Sandra Conaty Brace
Sandra Conaty Brace passed away on September 11, 2001 as a victim of an act of terrorism committed on the United States of America at the World Trade Center in New York City. A memorial service will be held on August 3, 2002 at 11 a.m., at the First Christian Church, 516 South 10th Avenue, Caldwell, Idaho. A private service will be held by family members prior tot he memorial service. Sandy was employed at Marsh & McLennan, an insurance company whose offices were located on the 94th Floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Sandy was born in Bemidji, Minn. on November 18, 1940 of parents who were of Norwegian descent. Sandy graduated from high school in Wichita, Kan. in 1960. Soon after she married her first husband, Hayes Conaty and they had two sons, Eric and David. They lived in Fort Dix, N.J., Tampa, Fla. and the state of Washington. Sandy and Hayes Conaty were divorced. In 1992 Sandy moved to New York City where she met David Brace, whom she later married. They were living in Staten Island, New York at the time of her death. Sandy was an ardent reader, loved cats, wrote poetry and stories. Sandy is survived by her husband, David E. Brace, her former husband, Hayes Conaty, of Ridge Manor, Fla., her two sons, Eric Conaty of Caldwell, Idaho, David Conaty of Seattle, Wash., and three grandchildren, Christopher Conaty, Daniel Conaty and Angela Conaty of Caldwell, Idaho. Sylvan Taylor
Sylvan Taylor, 88, of Boise, passed peacefully, after a lengthy illness, in the home of his caregiver on Tuesday, July 23, 2002. His funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, August 3, in the Kuna Chapel of the LDS Church, next to the park, Bishop Douglas Erickson, conducting. Flowers should be sent to the Kuna 3rd Ward of the LDS Church. Sylvan was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He loved, and always cared for his family. Little children never failed to put a smile upon his face. Even in his last and most difficult days. The family of Sylvan wishes to express heartfelt thanks for the care that he received while residing in the home of his caregiver, Yvonne Gray, and to Boise Memorial Hospice for their exceptional assistance to Sylvan and his family.
Aiden Madariaga
Aiden Madariaga, 78, of Jordan Valley, Ore., passed away at home with family by his side on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Jordan Valley Cemetery. Aiden was born June 10, 1924, in Jordan Valley, to Eulogio and Trinidad (Arriola) Madariaga. He grew up in Jordan Valley and graduated from Jordan Valley High School. Upon his graduation Aiden served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in World War II. During the war Aiden met Sabina Kazimiepa who was working in an Army hospital in Germany. Aiden and Sabina married Feb. 25, 1947, in Heidelberg, Germany. After the war they came back to Jordan Valley and operated the Chevron and motel. Sabina preceded Aiden in death in 1998. Aiden loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreations. As a lifetime resident of Jordan Valley he was very active in the community. Aiden is survived by a son, Johnny (and Katherine) Madariaga, two stepgrandchildren, Lori and Vance; three great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Aleck and Richard; and four sisters, Rosie, Mary, Felisa and Leonor. The family suggests that any memorials be made in memory of Aiden to either the Jordan Valley Ambulance or the Jordan Valley Lions Hall. Charlotte Elizabeth Runyan
Charlotte Elizabeth Runyan, 80, of Yakima, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002, at Yakima Providence Medical Center. Mrs. Runyan was born in Matheson, Colorado on October 29, 1921, to Howard and Rachael (Millanger) Ashcraft. She moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1929. She married Arthur Lewis Foster Runyan on October 3, 1940. She had been employed by Western Auto, Caldwell Elite Cake Baker, Parrott's Jewelry, was a distributor for Aloe Vera products, and retired from J.C. Penney's. While in Caldwell, she had been a member of Montana Ave. Baptist Church. She moved to Yakima Valley in 1996. She is lovingly survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dan Huff of Yakima, a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Sue Runyan of Caldwell, Idaho. A brother Arthur Ashcraft of Caldwell, Idaho. Two sisters, Mary Ryan of Tempe, Ariz., and Nadine Dunning of Durango, Colo. Grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, Jennifer, and Craig. One great grandson Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 31. 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho.
Edna "Marie" Barker
Edna "Marie" Barker, 64, of Boise, formerly of Santa Rosa, Calif., passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at her daughter's home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Cloverdale Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. Marie was born Jan. 5, 1938, in Lufkin, Texas. She grew up in Nash's Mill, Lake County, Calif. On Feb. 18, 1955, she married Joe Barker. Marie worked as a telephone operator until her marriage. After her marriage her career was caring for her husband and children. Marie touched many lives, she was a great friend and a wonderful mother, the best "Memah" and grandmother. She is survived by her former husband, Joe Barker of California; daughter, Katherine and her husband, James Marshall of Nampa and their children, Aprille Carter and James Marshall III; daughter, Susan and her husband, Kevin Sackett of Boise and their son, Jacobb Sackett; daughter, MaryAnn Barker of Boise and her son, Noah; son, Daniel and his wife, Charlene Barker of Fairbanks, Alaska, and their children, Christopher Barker and Jennifer Barker; grandsons, Richard Jr. and Jerimiah Barker; granddaughter, Christina Clark; and five great-grandchildren, Kelle, Brendan, Adriana, Alexander and Julianna. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Gladys Hail; son, Richard, Jan. 7, 2002; son, David Barker, Aug. 14, 1992; and infant daughter, Carolyn Barker, Aug. 19, 1960.
Edward Traywick Sr.
Edward Lee Traywick Sr., 65, of Caldwell, died of natural causes Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Deer Flat Free Methodist Church, 17703 Beet Road, Caldwell. Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under direction of the Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett. Ed was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Belmont, N.C., to William and Minnie Traywick. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on Jan. 12, 1954, and served his country honorably for more than 20 years, which included four combat tours in Vietnam, until he retired April 30, 1974, and settled down in Caldwell with his wife, Sharon, and son, Edward Jr. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he started his second career as a teacher. He taught at Caldwell High School until 1979, and transferred to Vallivue High School, where he retired from teaching in 1996. Ed enjoyed working outside with his animals, and took frequent trips to the mountains with his dogs. He took exceptional care of his dogs, and his friends often joked that when they died they would like to come back as one of Ed's dogs. His students stayed in contact with him throughout the years. It was not uncommon for Ed to be sitting on his front porch with former students that sought out his advice and counsel, which he dearly loved to give. Ed is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon; their son, Edward Jr.; as well as three grandchildren, Bryan, Alexander and Zachary; his sisters, Betty Eller, Gloria Polston, and Helen Holt; and his brothers, William Traywick and Daniel Agnew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Traywick. In lieu of flowers, it was Ed's wish that memorial contributions be made to Pet Haven Humane Society, 333 W. Orchard Ave., Nampa 83651.
George Edward Tracadas
George E. Tracadas, 74, of Boise, suffered a heart attack and died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel. Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. George was born Oct. 19, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Phillip G. and Loretta L. Tracadas. George was proud of his Greek heritage, his father having immigrated directly from Greece as a young man. His father, Philip Tracadas, volunteered to fight in World War I, and the family surname was "Americanized" from the original Greek spelling of Trakadas to Tracadas during his induction. George was reared in San Bernardino, Calif., and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1945. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy to be trained as a pilot. After World War II ended, he was released from service and returned home to attend Valley College in San Bernardino. Later, he graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1950 with a B.S. degree in civil engineering. He was employed by the state of California Highway Department in San Bernardino from 1950-1958, when he became a licensed professional engineer. He married Lucille Grubb Elliott on Sept. 2, 1957. He moved his family to Davis, Calif., in 1958 and was employed by the state of California Highway Department in Sacramento. In 1966, he relocated his family to Boise, where he worked for the Idaho Transportation Department as the chief utility engineer of Idaho. He enjoyed skiing, hunting, camping, and golfing. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lucille; his son, Duane P. and his wife, Jerilyn of Payette; son, Roger J. of Boise; two stepdaughters he raised as his own, Andra Dunkley of Park City, Utah, and Annelle (Elliott) Weller and husband, Gary of Rigby, Idaho; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Tracadas of Banning, Calif. George was deeply loved by his family and will be sorely missed by everyone. He was his wife's full-time caregiver and the most loving and selfless human being on the face of the Earth. Marjorie K. Bushnell
Marjorie K. Bushnell, 79, of Wilder, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at a Caldwell hospital of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Caldwell United Methodist Church, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Don R. Bessee
Don R. Bessee, 78, of Boise, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Valley View Retirement Community from natural causes with his family present. Don re-quested there be no funeral services; instead there will be a gathering to celebrate his life at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at his home, 8100 Thunder Mountain Drive, Boise. Don was born April 28, 1924, in St. Maries, Idaho, and was raised in Marshfield (Coos Bay), Ore., where he attended his first 10 years of education before entering Hill Military Academy in Portland, Ore., graduating in 1943. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army serving until 1946, after which he returned to Portland, Ore., to start his career in the insurance industry, retiring from United Pacific Insurance Co. as branch manager in 1985. Don was a member of Hillcrest Country Club for over 30 years, and was active throughout his life in both local and statewide insurance organizations, as well as serving a term as an associate member of the board for the Associated General Contractors organization. Don is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Bessee; also his son, Mike Bessee of Redmond, Ore.; his daughters, Robin Borchelt of Maple Valley, Wash., Tracy Mero of Clovis, Calif., and Melinda (Medo) Schlemmer of Seattle, Wash.; as well as seven grandchildren. Don asked that no flowers be sent, but rather contributions to the Idaho Junior Golf Association, 812 La Cassia Drive, Boise, ID 83705; or the charity of your choice.
Francis Herbert Brennan
Herb Brennan, 48, of Nampa, passed away suddenly at home as he went to be with his Lord, on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Herb was born April 1, 1954, in Bremerton, Wash., to Francis E. and Ida E. Brennan. He graduated in 1972 from Bremerton High School, and earned his A.A. degree in broadcast communication from Northwest Nazarene College in 1976. Herb married the love of his life, Merrill Morgan, on May 23, 1975, and they made their home in Nampa. The couple was blessed with two wonderful sons, Mark Francis in 1982, and Daniel Keith in 1985. Bethel Church of the Nazarene was their church home. Herb's broadcasting career began in 1972 at KCRH, NNC's radio station. His deep bass voice and smooth, articulate news delivery soon earned him positions at radio stations KCID - Caldwell, and KSPD - Boise. With the opening of KIVI Channel 6 TV, Herb's creative abilities were used on studio camera, in the dark room, film lab and took wing in the area of technical production and direction. In 1978, Herb left the TV industry and began his training in the electrical trade, turning out as a journeyman electrician in 1983 with IBEW Local 291. In 1985, Herb accepted the position of production director at KING Videocable in Twin Falls. With Herb's skills in electrical work, and production, he built the station's remote broadcast van. The Magic Valley community knew Herb well and depended on his talents in producing local programming, commercials and sporting events. His skills were used in many areas as the station contracted for remote location broadcast services. In 1993, the family relocated to Nampa and Herb began work in the electrical trade again. His electrical skills will live on in the many commercial and industrial buildings where he worked his trade. The new Ada County courthouse was the last construction site where he worked. Herb leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Meri, and sons, Mark and Daniel; his sister, Odessa Annand of Edmonds, Wash.; mother-in-law, Sylvia Morgan of Olympia, Wash.; and his "closer than a brother" best friend and college roommate, Jim Waterhouse and family of Vancouver, Wash. Herb was highly committed to his sons' education. He wanted to be there for both of them as they "walked the line" at Nampa High graduation and also from college. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for Mark and Daniel at Wells Fargo Bank in Nampa.
Joe Barrenechea
Joe Barrenechea, 89, of Boise, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002. He was born Aug. 8, 1913, in EA Vizcaya Spain, to George and Cristina Barrenechea. Joe arrived in the USA from Spain at the age of 18, where his job was herding sheep in the Mountain Home, Idaho, area. Later he worked in the mines in Coeur d'Alene, Mountain City, Nev., and California. While working in the mines he met and married Louisa Barinaga, his wife of 62 years. They moved to Boise in 1944, and he began a career as a contractor for insulation. Joe will always be remembered for his many hours spent at the Basque Center playing pinochle. He is survived by his wife, Louisa; his daughter, Louanna Cashion, son-in-law, Bill Cashion of Cleburne, Texas; as well as numerous cousins in the Idaho and Oregon area. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny; and his daughter, Cristina. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 S. Latah St., Boise. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home. The Barrenechea family wishes to thank all the help at Life's Doors Hospice for all their excellent care of Joe. Jennifer Irene Hurley
Jennifer Irene Hurley, 17, of Boise died early Sunday morning March 23, 2002 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born June 11, 1984 in Boise, Idaho, the daughter of Glynn and Terry. Jenny attended school at Boise Christian School, kindergarten through l0th grade. The highlight of her l0th grade was when her class took a 6 week trip around the United States for a history tour. She is survived by her father and mother; her sisters, Anna, Amanda and Sarah; brother, Joshua; nephew, Brandon; grandmother, Carlene; many uncles and aunts; 29 cousins; many friends and her very special friend, Kirk Seward. She attended church at Weslyan Holiness in Nampa. "Tigger, we can't tell you how much you are missed and loved." Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 28th at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave. Burial will be at Morris Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 7-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 27th at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
Lorraine Lenora Gomez
Lorraine Lenora Gomez, 57, of Boise died Monday, July 29, 2002 in a Boise hospital of natural causes. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave. Burial will follow at Meridian Cemetery. A viewing will be held today (Thursday), from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Lorraine Lenora Gomez was born on April 16, 1945 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She went to Santa Fe High School and beauty school in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but her main goal was to have a family. She married William Cordova on September 8, 1962. They had three children together, two daughters, and a son who preceded her in death. She poured her life into her children always giving unselfishly. She and her family lived in Santa Fe where she had her first child, Lenora. They later moved to Long Beach, California where she had her son Darrel and daughter, Charlene. They moved back to Santa Fe and in 1975 to Boise, Idaho where she lived the rest of her life. In 1987 she had her first grandchild, Camillia, who was the highlight of her life. She was instrumental throughout her granddaughters life, by helping raise her, and also home schooling her for four years. She adored her granddaughter and Cami will miss her. In 2001 she had her nest granddaughter Leah who also preceded her in death. Lorraine loved the Lord and trusted in his provision for her life. Life was not always kind to her but she always leaned on the Lord. So now we can celebrate with her, that she is well and in the hands of Savior and Lord, Jesus. For I know she has gone on to raise her granddaughter Leah. For that is where she felt most comfortable, raising those she loved, her daughters and grandchildren. "We love you Mom and grandma; were going to miss you." Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lenora Cordova Johnson and Tony L. Johnson of Meridian, her daughter, Charlene Cordova and her granddaughter Camillia Cordova of Roseberg, Oregon; and her sisters, Gloria Martinez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Helen Salazar of Buena Park, California, Lucille LaVato of Belen, New Mexico, Zelda Evans, of Mojave Desert, California, and Darlene Martinez of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, Teles Gomez and Vera Gomez; a brother, Teles Gomez Jr., her son, Darrel Cordova and her granddaughter, Leah Alyssa Johnson, and a brother-in-law who she loved, Duane Cordova. God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be. So He closed his arms around you and whispered, Come to Me. You didn't deserve what you went through, so He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. And when I saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, I could not wish you back to suffer that again. Author Unknown
