Erma Rardin
Graveside services will be held indoors at 10 a.m. Tuesday at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls.
Erma Irene (Carney) Rardin, 85, a 48-year resident of Post Falls, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene.
As she waited to join the Lord, her family sang hymns that she played and sang so often throughout the years. She was an avid self-taught pianist and vocalist who believed music was her calling in service to Christ. She was a lay minister, and many of her friends came from her Free Methodist, Wesleyan and Nazarene church families. Although her roots are in northern Minnesota, where she graduated from Motley High School, she loved the Northwest and returned to Post Falls in 1955 to raise her family with her husband, Joseph Rardin, Sr. Her son, Joseph Rardin, Jr.; her parents, Ida (Hills) and Brice Carney; her sisters, Helen Zentz, Myrtle Sanderson and Lila Drake; and a brother, Calvin Carney, preceded her in death. Besides her husband, her survivors include daughters Junea Rardin and Franida Maudsley; her grandchildren, Nicholas Rardin, Anya Rardin, Adana Harris and Corrina Wilson; her step-granddaughter, Angela Sharp; and her great-grandchildren Nathan Rardin, Justice Harris and Paige Harvey.

Edward H. Garvin

Graveside were at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls, followed by memorial services at Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church.
Edward "Ed" H. Garvin, 70, Post Falls, died Friday, July 25, 2003, in Coeur d'Alene.
He was born Aug. 30, 1932, in New Albany, Ind., to Jane and Herman Garvin. Ed served in the Navy. In June 1969, he married Stephanie M. Lewis in Los Gatos, Calif. They moved to Post Falls in 1981 from Sunnyvale, Calif.
Ed worked at Hewlett Packard for 30 years. He retired in 1989.
A former president of the local chapter of Gold Prospectors Association of America, Ed enjoyed gold panning, fishing and photography.
Survivors include his wife Stephanie at home; sons Richard, Roseville, Calif., Gary, Sacramento, Calif., Mark, Hayden; daughters Robin Garvin, Roseville, Calif., Tracey Scorpiniti, Galt, Calif.; brothers Cliff Garvin and Lowell Garvin, both of New Albany, Ind.; sister Margaret Field, Sellenberg, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donald and Robert.
Roy Roosevelt Patchen
November 7, 1904 ~ July 27, 2003
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 9900 W. 16th, Post Falls.
Roy Roosevelt Patchen, 98, Post Falls, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Coeur d'Alene, after a brief illness.
He was born in Coeur d'Alene on Nov. 7, 1904, to Theodore and Rebecca Elizabeth (Berthoff) Patchen. Roy had five other brothers and two sisters, all of whom preceded Roy in death.
Roy was a graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School and Moscow University with a degree in electrical engineering. While still in college, he married Eva Hampton of Genesee.
Roy's first job was in New York with the Edison Co. He later helped originate the See Bees in Norfolk, Va.
He was drafted into the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant J.G. and was stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco. After World War II, he was honorably discharged as Lieutenant Commander.
Roy and Eva had three children: James Roy, Carol Jean Patchen Unland and Ann Patchen Ballantyne, who were all born in New York.
Roy taught briefly in the Napa Junior College in Napa, Calif., before going overseas to Guam, where he was employed by the Navy, with which he continued to work for the rest of his career. Roy retired at age 67. He received many honors, including the Meritorious Award for his outstanding service.
Roy was preceded in death by Eva, his wife of 65 years, son Jim and two grandsons.
He is survived by his two daughters, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In 1992, Roy married Edwina Norris of Wallace. They have had 11 enjoyable years of marriage. Adding to his family are Edwina's daughter Kathy and son Russell, six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Margaret "Peggy" O. Gilliam
October 8, 1946 ~ July 25, 2003
Margaret "Peggy” O Gilliam, 56, was born on Oct. 8, 1946, to proud parents Al and Maurine “Marty” (Bellamy) Wheat. She went to school and graduated in Elko, Nev.
Peggy married her high school sweetheart, John Swainston, and later had her first child, Richard Deon, who was born Sept. 12, 1967. Peggy and John later divorced.
She then met and married Leroy Gilliam. They had their first son, Christopher Leroy, on April 12, 1972, in Richmond, W. Va. They lived for a few years in Springcreek, Nev., before moving to Post Falls in 1976. Shortly thereafter, they became proud parents of their first and only daughter, Ashlee Maurine on May 7, 1976.
Peggy resided in Post Falls for the rest of her natural life. Our mother passed away Friday, July 25, 2003, in her home of natural causes.
Everyone who knew Peggy knew how much suffering and pain she lived through throughout her life, and would also know that, through all this, she always had great spirits and always thought of everybody else first. She had the kindest, most generous heart of anybody we've ever known.
Peggy was a very loving grandmother of five grandchildren, Alex and Brandon (Ashlee), Deon and Bubba (Richard) and Lexis (Chris).
She is also survived by her little brother Larry Wheat and little sis, Susie "snister snoozie" Larson; and her mother, Maurine Wheat.
Peggy loved her family and the Lord very very much.
This picture of Peggy was taken when she was young and healthy, which is how she is now in heaven Ñ young, beautiful, healthy and so happy.
She is now with her beloved father and brother Bobby, probably fishing and laughing and looking over all of us as our guardian angels. She will be missed dearly by all.
We love you, Mom, Grandma and Daughter!
Memorial service will be officiated by Rob Wheeler at 11 a.m. Saturday at Life Way Chapel, 591 W. 15th Street, Post Falls.
Josh James Hansen
October 12, 1973 ~ July 29, 2003
Josh James Hansen, 29, passed July 29, 2003 in Post Falls , ID. He was born October 12, 1973 to Daniel And Loeanna (Rackley) Waldron in Arcadia, CA .
Josh was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor by doctors at Kootenai Medical Center on Jan. 28, 2002 .
Josh attended schools in Santa Barbara , Calif. , before coming to live in the Silver valley. Josh’s favorite teacher was Mr. Franks at the Pinehurst School . His favorite Special Olympics instructors were Mike Holden and Sue Hansen.
Josh attended S/L Start for several years. His favorite person was Ruth. Josh’s current agency was High/Road, where his favorite person was Craig Hirt at the time he passed away.
Josh enjoyed laughing at jokes, cross country skiing, swimming in Coeur d’Alene River , rafting, riding his ATV, stage plays, Star Wars and Star Trek movies.
Josh touched many lives. He was our hero. We will bless his memory with love each time we think of him.
Josh is survived by his mother Loeanna Hansen, stepfather Ernest Hansen; brother Roger Waldron; sister Centhia Larson; stepbrother Rik Hansen; and stepsister Viky Monforte.
He was preceded in death by his stepbrother Bradley Hansen.

William P. Nunn

William P. Nunn, 78, Coeur d'Alene, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lewiston.
He was born March 22, 1925, in Glade Springs, Va., to Ethel Cora (Dicke-rson) and Philip Moody Nunn. William served in the Air Force for 23 years as a supply sergeant. On May 13, 1949, he married Bell L. Estes in Mountain Home. They moved in 1986 to Coeur d'Alene from Sacramento, Calif.
William was a member of Post Falls American Legion and enjoyed golfing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Bell, at home; sons David Nunn, Coeur d'Alene, Steven Nunn, Salt Lake City, Phillip Nunn, Hayden; daughters Charlene Sugrue, Concord, Calif., Evelyn Nunn, Walnut Creek, Calif.; sister Joan Neighbors, Virginia; grandchildren Michelle, Diane, Michael, Trisha, Clarrissa, Dave Jr., Gena, Theresa, Joshua, Kristina, Aaron, Jessica and James; great-grandchildren David, Taylor, Michael, Kyle, William and Aaron, William, Emilio, Paul, Gabriel; and favorite dogs Taco and Candy.
William was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Nunn.

Ella June (Chappell) Pierce, 73, Plummer, passed Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the Tekoa Care Center in Tekoa, Wash.
Born March 30, 1930, in Tensed, to Jenny (Nelson) and Floyd Chappell, Ella moved in 1953 to Worley from Las Vegas. She was a drafts- man for the Clark County Assessor's office in Las Vegas. She moved to Plummer in 1992.
Ella is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Wilma and Elmer Whitman of Plummer; and cousins, nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard - Pierce and brother Frank Chappell.
Mark Sargent
July 20, 1957 ~ July 31, 2003
Mark F. Sargent, 46, Bremerton, Wash., died July 31, 2003, in Bremerton, while camping.
He was born July 20, 1957, in Anacortes, Wash., to Gail (Engebretson) and Richard Sargent. Mark was a carpenter and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He fulfilled his dream of moving back to the Washington coast.
Mark is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gail and Harry Whitman of Coeur d'Alene; daughters Sara Ann, Arizona, Sammi, Texas; two grandchildren; sisters Julie Frase, Spirit Lake, and Cory Reed, Rathdrum; brothers Rick and Mike, both of Yakima, Wash.; stepbrother Daniel Hammontree, Yakima; stepsisters Lisa Osborn, Lori Hazen, both of Spokane, and Traci Yenne, Seattle.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Richard.
Private family service will be held.
Barbara B. Suttner

Barbara B. Suttner, 72, Coeur d'Alene, passed July 31, 2003.
She was born March 24, 1921, in Beaver, Utah, to Mary Russell and Joseph Dewey Bakes. On July 19, 1943, Barbara married Thomas R. Suttner in Colorado Springs, Colo. They moved to Coeur d'Alene in October 1997. Barbara was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Suttner Meacham of Washington, D.C.; and granddaughters Sarah and Anne Meacham.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1999 and her parents.
Dean Knapp
Funeral Mass for Dean L. Knapp, 41, was Saturday August 9, 2003 at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene, burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
Mr. Knapp, who was born in San Diego, died Wednesday.
He was a lifetime resident of North Idaho and had served as a master control technician for KXLY radio for 15 years.
Mr. Knapp was attending North Idaho College while working toward a teaching degree.
He attended St. Pius Catholic Church and the House of Worship in Post Falls.
He enjoyed sports and camping.
Survivors include a daughter, Sara Knapp of Coeur d'Alene; his parents, Dale and Lillian Knapp of Coeur d'Alene; and two brothers, Darrell Knapp of Marysville, Wash., and Jeff Knapp of Coeur d'Alene.

Glenn Grafe
Service for Glenn A. Grafe, 62, will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel, with burial at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Mr. Grafe, who was born in Nebraska , died Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; three sons, John, Tom and David Grafe; and three grandchildren.
