OBITUARY: Ronald Eric Jones
53, Post Falls resident
Ronald Eric Jones, age 53, of Post Falls, Idaho, died Oct. 11 in Spokane, Wash. Ronald was born July 9, 1954, to Charles F. and Eunice Jean (Englehardt) Jones in Stockton, Calif. He has lived in Post Falls for three years and lived in Marysville, Wash., for 10 years before that.
Ronald was a carpenter. He was previously a dietician at Providence Hospital in Everett, Wash. He earned a bachelor of science degree in food and nutrition from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Wash. He was married to Mary Ann Dahmen.
Ronald was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, furniture building, fishing, his puppies and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, at the family home; his mother, Jean Jones, of Berthoud, Colo.; daughters and son-in-law, Dorae (John) Lande of Arlington, Wash., and Megan Jones of Post Falls; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam (Dave) Sexton and Monica (Bob) Minto, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie (Jennifer) Jones of Loveland, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended Dahmen family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Jones.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Oct. 17 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. A gathering at the family home took place after the service.
Laura A. Yuill

Funeral service were Friday June 13, 2003, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.
Laura A. Yuill, 86, Coeur d'Alene, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Kootenai Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 25, 1916, to Thera (Burnside) and Charles Rich in Winifred, Mont., and married George C. Yuill on Oct. 26, 1935 in Lewistown, Mont. They moved to North Idaho in the early 1940s. Laura was a homemaker.
She enjoyed needlework and cooking.
Laura is survived by her brothers Robert Rich of Winifred, Mont., and William Rich, Missoula, Mont.; sisters Emy Thompson, Belt, Mont., and Mary Gordon, Lewistown, Mont.; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Alfred Monette, Coeur d'Alene, Toni and Lorman Boawn, Post Falls, Betty and Dave Nibarger, Hayden, Tudy and Bob Burlingame, Coeur d'Alene; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George in 1987 and brother Dan.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.

Naida L. Sweeney
May 9, 1914 ~ June 9, 2003

Naida L. Sweeney, 89, Post Falls, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Kootenai Medical Center.
She was born May 9, 1914, to Tillie (Nelson) and Claude Salsbery in Stady, N.D., where she was raised. When she was 16, Naida moved to Seattle to live with her aunt and uncle, graduated high school in Seattle and went to work at Fort Lawton Military Post. In 1942, she married Capt. Harold Sweeney in Seattle. Later, Naida went to work for City Transfer Moving System for many years until retirement.
She enjoyed flowers.
Naida is survived by her sister Betty Dionne of Post Falls, brother Louis Salsbery, Ronan, Mont.; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Carolyn Herring.
Naida was preceded in death by her husband in 1947, parents Tillie and Claude Salsbery, brother Clair, sisters Dorothy Godfrey and Doris Price.
Phyllis A. Boursaw
March 28, 1937 ~ June 8, 2003
Funeral Mass was held Friday, June 13, 2003, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, ID. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
Phyllis A. Boursaw, 66, Coeur d'Alene, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at home.
She was born May 28, 1937, to Jeanettie (Saxton) and Thomas Good Mitchell in Sagola Township, Mich. On March 15, 1969, Phyllis married Lawrence Boursaw in Nena, Wis. She moved to North Idaho in 1979 and moved to Coeur d'Alene from Spirit Lake two years ago. Through the years, Phyllis moved back and forth from here to Michigan. She was a homemaker.
Phyllis was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her sons Carl Johnson and wife Bonnie, Duane Johnson, Donald Johnson and wife Kerry, all of Sagola, Mich.; daughters June Mantor, St. Paul, Minn., Theresa and husband Keith Brewer, Mead, Wash., Rose Boursaw, Coeur d'Alene; sister Donna Gross, Sagola, Mich.; brother Alvia Mitchell, Lovelock, Nev.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous other children she cared for and loved as her own.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband Donald Johnson, second husband Lawrence Boursaw, and seven brothers and sisters.
Roberta F. Weeks
July 21, 1915 ~ June 6, 2003
Funeral Mass Roberta F. (Wachsmuth) Weeks, 87, was Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
Mrs. Weeks, who was born in Kalispell, Mont., died Friday.
She grew up in Coeur d'Alene and graduated from high school at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy.
She then married Richard Weeks in 1937 and lived in Brewster, Wash., until returning to Coeur d'Alene in 1977.
Mrs. Weeks was a homemaker and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church; the Catholic Daughters of America, Coeur d'Alene chapter; the Altar Society; and bowling leagues in Brewster.
Her husband died earlier.
Survivors include four children, Richard Weeks of Spokane Valley, Dave Weeks of Coeur d'Alene and Tom and Janel Weeks, both of Spokane; a brother, Gib Wachsmuth of Coeur d'Alene; and eight grandchildren.
Evelyn Selden
April 21, 1922 ~ June 4, 2003
Graveside service were Friday June 6, 2003, at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
Evelyn R. Selden, 81, Post Falls, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Life Care Center of Coeur d'Alene.
She was born April 21, 1922, in Baker, Mont., to Gladys (Hutton) and Daniel Gunderson. On Jan. 3, 1942, Evelyn married Oscar Selden in Reno, Nev. They moved to North Idaho in 1945 after Oscar served in the Navy. Evelyn was a homemaker.
She was a 4-H leader for many years and member of TOPS. She enjoyed camping and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar, son and daughter-in-law Dan and Dianne Selden, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Bob Ovnicek, all of Post Falls; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and sister Irene Gavin.
Dorothy "Dottie" K. Austin
November 12, 1924 ~ June 3, 2003
Eastern Star services were Saturday June 7, 2003, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.
Dorothy (Dottie) K. Marshall Austin, 78, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Kootenai Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 12, 1924, the daughter of Bill and Etta Schroeder of Devon, Mont. Dottie graduated from Shelby High School in 1942 and moved to Spokane working at Geiger Field. In Jan. 1943, she married W.N. Davis in Coeur d'Alene. They were divorced in 1945.
In Dec. 1945, Dottie married George Vincent Marshall in Montana. They moved to California where they lived until they retired in 1978 and moved to Post Falls. Mr. Marshall preceded her in death in 1980.
In 1983, Dottie married Claude W. Austin at Twin Lakes Village. He preceded her in death in 1996. Dottie was also preceded in death by her stepsons Robert and John Marshall.
She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star Clover Chapter 33 and formerly of Rebekah. She enjoyed reading and needlework.
Dottie is survived by her daughter Rochelle A. Crawford of Post Falls; grandsons Richard E. Crawford, Cincinnati, and Stanley Vincent Laxton, California; stepdaughter Georgia and husband George Riehl, Yakima, Wash.; four step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and eight step-great-great-grandchildren.

Bud Murrell

Viewing was Thursday and Friday, and funeral service was Saturday, June 7, 2003, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls.
Bud Murrell, 87, Post Falls, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Kootenai Medical Center.
Bud was born March 22, 1916, in Morris, Okla., to Ida L. (Page) and Alfred D. Murrell. In 1947, he married Shirley C. Eppers in Albuquerque. They moved to Post Falls in 1950 from Snyder, Texas, where Bud worked as a rough neck on an oil rig. He owned a livestock company in Bonners Ferry for four years. Bud raised chickens, pheasants and peacocks. He loved fishing.
Bud is survived by his wife Shirley at home; daughters Ida Mae Richie, Sanger, Texas, Ruby Ann White, Mineola, Texas, Toni M. Berger, Spokane; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son David, two sisters and four brothers.
Marilyn Henry-Kean
August 7, 1924 ~ February 10, 2003
Marilyn Margaret (Smith) Henry-Kean, 78, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at her home.
She was born to Elmer James and Marjorie Maeva (Caswell) Smith on Aug. 7, 1924, in St. Maries, where Marilyn attended the local schools and graduated from St. Maries High School in 1942. The following June, she moved with her mother and siblings to Bremerton, Wash., where her father had taken a job at the Naval Ammunition Depot.
Marilyn worked in the Bremerton Navy Yard for a time until she was promoted from the shop to the administration office. On Aug. 29, 1944, she was married in the rectory of Our Lady, The Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton to Pharmacist's Mate Thomas Reid Henry. To this couple were born three children: Ronald Thomas Henry on Feb. 19, 1946; Christie Rae Henry on Sept. 27, 1940; and Marjorie Louise Henry, on March 12, 1951.
After Thomas Henry left the service, they lived in St. Maries, where Tom worked for the St. Maries Creamery. Later, they moved to Spokane, where Marilyn worked for the Washington State Court of Appeals for many years. She retired in 1986. She and Thomas divided their retirement years between Spokane and El Centro, Calif.
Thomas Henry died in 1990 from a heart attack at their home in Spokane. Daughter Christie died Jan. 7, 1973, and was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Marilyn married a second time to David Kean, a Canadian, on Jan. 12, 1993. David died in December 1993 in Canada. The following spring, Marilyn moved from Canada to Coeur d'Alene.
In December 1999, Marilyn suffered a stroke and has suffered from Aphasia since that time. She found it difficult to read, write, play bridge, golf and do the cross-stitch which she had loved.
Marilyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sherri Henry, of Spokane; daughter Marjorie (Henry) Kirkpatrick, Wenatchee, Wash.; three grandsons; two step-granddaughters; a granddaughter-in-law; two great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; sisters Noreen Haler, Grand Prairie, Texas, Sister Joan Smith, Cottonwood, and Marjorie Delaney, Orofino; brother Elmer James Smith Jr., North Bend, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, Marilyn was cremated. Memorial Mass was at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, where Thomas and Christie are buried. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene is in charge of the arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Idaho or St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Chester R. Reynolds
February 29, 1910 ~ April 6, 2003
Chester Rawleigh Reynolds, 93, Post Falls, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Coeur d'Alene Rehabilitation Center.
A lifetime resident of Post Falls, Chester was born Feb. 29, 1910, in Post Falls, to Martha (Giles) and Harvey H. Reynolds. On Dec. 4, 1932, he married Alice Millsaps in Post Falls. Chester was a millworker and retired from Kaiser Aluminum after 26 years.
He was a member of Pleasant View Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Chester is survived by his wife Alice at home; sons Gerald Reynolds, Morgan Hill, Calif., John Reynolds, Post Falls; brother Homer Reynolds, Post Falls; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Lee, Pascal, Edward and Andrew, sisters Elizabeth and Violet, and daughter Marlene in May 1997.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday April 17, 2003 at Pleasant View Church. Private burial has taken place at Pleasant View Cemetery. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Lee Hayes
October 11, 1942 ~ April 9, 2003
Dennis Lee Hayes, 60, Post Falls, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1942, to Mildred (MaCloud) and Herald Hayes in Los Angeles. Dennis was raised in Butte, Mont., and served in the Army. On June 12, 1974, he married Joyce L. Wright in Spring Valley, Calif. Dennis worked as a body and fender man and has been a Post Falls resident for the last 18 years.
A fan of country music, Dennis was an accomplished singer and guitar player.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, at home; son Chuck E. Chapman, Minnesota; daughters Deborah L. Hayes, El Cajon, Calif., Tammie L. Whitney, Guam, Virginia Y. Wood, Kansas, Andrea D. Hayes, El Cajon, Calif.; brothers Gary Hayes, Joe Hayes and Charlie Hayes, all of California; sister Marina Hayes, Texas; and stepmother Alice Hayes, Dillon, Mont.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Joy Iaacs.
Viewing hours were Tuesday April 15, 2003 at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, ID, before the Graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls. American Legion Post 143 will officiate at the service.
Ethel Karsten
November 1, 1909 ~ April 10, 2003
Ethel V. Karsten, 93, Santa Rosa, Calif., died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Santa Rosa.
She was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Spokane, to Petrine and Christian Jorgensen.
Ethel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Archibald and Patty MacLennan; sisters Clara Hieronymus and Evelyn Smith; granddaughters Jennifer Atwood (Rod) and Susan Merriman (Rod).
Ethel's husband Ernest Karsten preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held April 16 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene. Burial was at the Riverview Section of Forest Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene.
John G. Dorsey

John G. Dorsey, 51, Plummer, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 , at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene .
He was born July 27, 1951 , in Baltimore , to Frances Irene (Roberts) and Gilbert Lee Dorsey. For the past 11 years, John had lived in Plummer, coming from Spokane . He worked in security at the Coeur d’Alene Casino. Prior to that John was a correctional officer in Maryland . On Sept 16, 1998 , he married Bobbi J. Smith at Plummer Point Heyburn State Park .
John was a member of Plummer Bible Church .
He is survived by his wife Bobbi at home; sons John Dorsey, Baltimore, Demetrius Bell, John Dorsey, both of Plummer, daughters Sheeba, Sonia Dorsey, Baltimore, Delene Dorsey, Vancouver, Wash., Phalisitie Bell, Plummer, Ezralee Kelly, Spokane; sisters Frances Robinson, Barbara King, Charlotte Robertson, all of Baltimore; brothers Randolph Gee, Curtis Booker, Charles Booker, Terry Booker, Tony Booker, all of Baltimore; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Booker.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Plummer Bible Church .
