Floyd A. May
Nov. 30, 1931-Sept. 14, 2011
Star, Idaho - Floyd Allen May, 79, of Star, formerly of Ontario passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center — Meridian. A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 19 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the First Baptist Church, Ontario. Interment with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Ontario. Floyd was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Payette, Idaho, to John W. and Edna N. (Stout) May. He attended Payette Westside, Jr. High, and Sr. High School; graduating in 1950. Floyd then enrolled in Lewis and Clark College for a year before he enlisted in the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Boyd Destroyer. After he was honorably discharged in June 1955 he went to work for Vogt Transfer Co. as an accountant. Floyd married Patricia Y. Johnson Aug. 21, 1955, in Payette. Floyd went to work at Ore-Ida Foods Traffic Dept. in accounting. He went to work for N.A.C.A. Trucking as an accountant until his retirement in 2000. During this time he also played piano six nights a week at Cheyenne Social Club and O’Michaels until 2008. In 2006, Floyd and Pat moved to Star to be closer to family. At that time he began playing at retirement homes weekly in and around the area until 2010 when he became too ill to play. His playing brought comfort and happiness to all who heard his music; all the retirement homes still call asking him to come back. Floyd would still play occasionally, whether he felt well or not, for family members; playing last week for Pat’s birthday. He would never say no to playing for his health care providers when they came to visit. He delighted in playing everyone’s favorite songs. Floyd had written two songs especially for Pat, the love of his life. He was a member of the V.F.W. Ontario Post No. 5452, Professional Musician’s Assoc., Ontario First Baptist Church, and The Heights Church in Eagle.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Patricia Y. May, of Star; his children, Karen M. Norris (Ron), of Boise, Judy A. Browning (Rob), of Boise, and Steven A. May (Bobbi), of Eagle; one sister, Donabea Reed, of Haysville, Kan.; eight grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
His grandparents; parents, John and Edna May; daughter, Carleen Y. May; and two grandsons preceded him in death.

Roy William Eaton
July 16, 1914-June 19, 2011
Payette - Roy William Eaton died peacefully at home June 19, 2011, of congestive heart failure. He was under the care of Pathway Hospice.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., to Arthur H. and Imo Corda Eaton (Pundt) July 16, 1914, and graduated from Olathe Trade School. He married Lucille Velma Bland Oct. 12, 1940. They adopted their one child, Ronald William, in 1944.
He had a life-long interest in automobiles and all things mechanical; he started driving when he was twelve and paid 5 cents for his first license at the age of 14. He rode motorcycles and was at one point a semi-professional automobile race driver. He dated the events in his life by what car he was driving, owned, was working on, or was about to buy or sell. He was co-inventor of a patented machine used in the manufacture of disposable plastic doctors’ examining gloves.
Roy and Lucille moved to Payette in the early 1970s, where he continued to restore and rebuild old automobiles and engines. He was active in the old car community and was regarded locally, nationally, and even internationally as an authority on old automobiles and engines. He was generous with his knowledge and could identify the name, model, and year of the car from which some corroded, pasture-found auto part came. Strangers sent him grainy photos of obscure engines and autos for identification.
He had a large capacity for friendship and will be missed by his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother; sister and his wife of 63 years, whom he mourned every day of the remainder of his own life.
He is survived by his son and numerous nephews and nieces and their children.
A memorial service will be held for Roy Friday Aug. 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel at 840 Sixth Ave. South, Payette, Idaho.
His ashes will be interred next to his wife’s.
His son asks and strongly requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Roy’s name to Pathway Hospice or some other charity.

Yvonne Pfeifer
Oct. 3, 1936-Aug. 11, 2011
Fruitland - Yvonne Pfeifer, 74, of Fruitland, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at a care facility in Emmett.
A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday at the Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland.

Yvonne was born in Caldwell, Idaho, Oct. 3, 1936, to Rolly and Gladys Bates. She attended grade school in the one room Dixie Red Top School in Greenleaf, then sixth grade through 12th grade at Caldwell. During this time she worked at Crookums Seed Company and in the Albertsons Bakery.
Yvonne married Clarence Pfeifer Dec. 22, 1954, in Caldwell. While living here they had three of their children, Cindy 1955, Terry 1956, and Ed 1960.
In 1961, they moved to Fruitland. Here they added two more to their family, Eric 1965 and Kelli 1968. For a brief time she worked in the Payette/Fruitland Canneries and in a Fruitland school lunchroom. In 1965, Yvonne started working for the Fruitland School District as a school bus driver. She did this for 28 years, retiring in 2001. Also for 13 years during this time she was first a teacher’s aide for the SNAP Program in the Payette School District and then for Special Ed in the Fruitland Schools.
Yvonne helped start the Fruitland Boosters in 1970. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, working with “special needs” children, crafts, and painting.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Pfeifer, of Fruitland; children, Cindy Tuning (Bill), of New Plymouth, Terry Farrow (Jess), of Fruitland, Ed Pfeifer (Deb), of Marsing, Eric Pfeifer (Wendy), of New Plymouth, and Kelli Cordes (Wade), of Fruitland; 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Derrick, JD, Bruce, Cory, Tim, Cody, Casey, Jennifer, and Hannah and eight great- grandchildren, Kasey, Kayleigh, Austin, Trenton, Andrew, Emily, Kolton, and Bryce.
Her parents; sister, Carleen; brothers, Kyle and Stan; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Carol, and brothers-in-law, Tom and Milan preceded her in death.

Thomas E. Walker

Payette - Thomas E. Walker was born November 2, 1951 in Prior, Missouri, the seventh child of nine children born to John and Alice Walker. Tom’s family moved to Payette, Idaho when he was 9 months old and Tom then resided there the rest of his life. Tom graduated from Payette High School in 1970 and shortly after graduation began working for American Fine Foods. Tom held a variety of positions the next 40 years and at his death was working as a hyster driver. At about the same time that Tom began working he also joined the Idaho Army National Guard. Tom was very patriotic and honorably served his country retiring after 22 years. Tom was a dedicated employee but his greatest dedication and tribute in life was to his loving family and friends.
In 1973, Tom married Susie Fernandez, the love of his life. Tom and Susie knew each other since meeting in the 7th grade and it was love at first sight for Tom as at that time he vowed he would marry her someday. He and Chula (his loving nickname for her) celebrated 37 years of marriage. Their life together was made complete with the birth of their only son, Aaron on December 30, 1976.
Tom loved people. He made new friends easily and cherished old friends and won people over with his quick wit and terrific sense of humor. Laughter was a blessing to Tom and he readily shared it with all who knew him. Susie remembers her first encounter with him seeing him from afar clowning around with a group of his friends.
Tom loved to fish, hunt, play pool and watch a Yankee baseball game. It was during these times he shared his wonderful sense of humor with family and friends. He was fun to be around and always had a smile and a hug or a piece of good advice available for anyone in need. Tom was good with people and during his part time work bar tending at Patrick’s Pub he touched many lives in Payette. Tom treasured his family and though his family was large, he cherished all five of his brothers and three sisters. Each and everyone was very special to him. He had nicknames for all of his nieces and nephews and was always available to lend a helping hand, shoulder to cry on, or just an open mind to listen. But the one thing you always knew was don’t ask for advice unless you really wanted an honest answer from him. He was always gentle and kind with his opinions but very honest.
Tom is survived by his wife Susie, son Aaron and his wife Sasha, and unborn grandson and namesake, Landon Thomas, all of Payette. He is also survived by all eight of his siblings, Mary (Walter) Underwood of Lacey, Washington, Bill (Adaline) Walker, Middleton, Idaho,, Lillie (Bob) Pollard, Lynwood, Washington, Jim (Edie) Walker, Silverlake, Washington, John (Irina) Walker, Irrigon, Oregon, George (Linda) Walker, Meridian, Idaho, Martha (Bill) Lindenau, Boise, Idaho, and Steve (Sandy) Walker, Nampa, Idaho.
Tom’s parents John William Walker and Lucy Alice Walker preceded him in death.
Cremation and memorial services are under the direction of Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Payette.
A memorial service will be held to honor him on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church located on US 95 in Fruitland, Idaho.
Family and friends will gather at American Legion Hall in Payette following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers a donation to any Veteran’s service agency would greatly honor Tom and his family.

Jesse Gentry Walker

Weiser - Jesse Gentry Walker, 81, Weiser, peacefully passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at home.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Weiser, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the LDS church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Jess was born Aug. 18, 1928, to Robert Walker and Grace (Noyes) Walker in Fruitland. He grew up and attended school in Fruitland, Ontario and Weiser. After graduating from Weiser High School in 1946, he took a job with the Idaho First National Bank in Weiser. Once securely employed, Jess asked Roma Hansen, his high school sweetheart, to marry him. They wed on Jan. 17, 1948, in Weiser; they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 27, 1966. As a young couple, Jess and Roma settled in Weiser and started their family. Together, they had seven children. Jess was well known and respected in the community. He worked 41 years for IFNB; all of those years were in Weiser with the exception of two years in Wendell, Idaho. He will be remembered as a practical man. He was a member of several civic organizations, a member of the National Guard, and he served on the Weiser Memorial Hospital Board for many years. Jess has had many interests during his life. Fishing and hunting with friends and family and bridge club to keep his mind keen and continue his love of numbers. Athletics played a big part in his entertainment. He liked playing sports as a young man and continued that enjoyment by being an avid fan, watching his children and grandchildren. Jess spent 42 years on the Weiser football “chain gang.” Many summers were spent vacationing in McCall. It was a place for fun and relaxation with his family and for creating memories. After Roma’s death in 1995, Jess married Jay Benningfield on June 19, 1997.
His many family members and loved ones respect the good man that he was and are so grateful for the life he lived. The many friends and acquaintances Jess made over the years played a very special part in his life, and he was touched by the recent acts of kindness and thoughts over the past few months. Jess was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl; his wife, Roma; and grandson, Lucas Walker. He is survived by his wife, Jay; sister, Orabelle Bruneau, of Astoria, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Lenora Walker, of Ontario, and Marjorie Cooper, of Nampa, Idaho; brother-in-law, Dale Dorman, of Lakeview, Wash.; children, Bob (Lori), of Clovis, Calif., Monte (Sandy), of Moscow, Idaho, Kevin, of Weiser, Brad (Donna), of Longview, Wash., Steve (Mary Ann), of Weiser, Jan (Leroy) Loomis, of Weiser, and Rod (Dee Dee), of Weiser; step-sons, Kelly (Paula) Benningfield, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Steve (Irene) Benningfield, of Yuba City, Calif. As you would imagine, with his many children there are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and more on the way! He loved his family more than his words could say and was pleased with the legacy he has left behind.
