Glen Burdick

Yuma, Ariz. - Glen Burdick passed away Sept. 13, 2011, at home in Yuma with his wife in attendance, after a very long battle with cancer.
He was born April 25, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Ira and Faye Burdick. Glen grew up in Arkansas with his other seven siblings.
On July 4, 1950, he joined the Army. He served his country for two years in Korea and one year escorting an honoring deceased personnel.
He decided he wanted to be a logger so he left the military July 3, 1953. He logged and worked construction in Sweet Home, until 1967 when he married his one true love Leota (Lee) Williams.
They moved to Pasco, Wash., where he worked on the dams. In 1974, they moved back to Portland, Ore., area and he went to work for United Grocers as a truck mechanic until he retired in 1993.
One more move to Payette, Idaho, to enjoy the good life of fishing and hunting. Then a friend said come visit Yuma and play music with all fun musicians. We moved here in 2005 and he enjoyed playing the upright bass and singing.
He loved to garden, be Mr. Fix-It for his wife, belonged to S.W. Old Time Fiddlers. He had lots of hobbies over the years, but his favorite was the music.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Leota (Lee); granddaughters, Shannon Colley, Reilly Burdick; grandsons, Eric Elkins, David Burdick; sister, Dorine Sloan; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Burdick and his parents.
He loved the Lord and knew his final destination. He will be missed by many.
