Margaret Sarkady Hamilton

Payette - Margaret Sarkady Hamilton, 93, Payette, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at home. A Celebration of Life service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette with the Rev. Arlen Benson officiating. Services and arrangements were are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Margaret was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Oxford, N.J., the second of 13 children to Jozsef Sarkadi and Julia Fedoras. She was raised in Phillipsburg, N.J. While attending Nyack Bible College in Upstate New York, she met Nelson Hamilton, a fellow student. They married Jan. 2, 1938, in Johnson City, N.Y. Margaret and Nelson, while raising three sons, moved to Harper in 1949, to Honolulu in 1951, and then to Payette in 1960. She was a long-time active member of Payette Assembly of God Church.
Margaret is survived by six siblings, Ethel, Thomas, Zalton, Elsie, Magdalene and Dorothy; three sons, Robert, Stephan and Nelson; five grandchildren, John, Paul, Peter, Lucas and Chelsea; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Micah, Rebekah and Jacob.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and six siblings.
In accord with her wishes, no flowers please. Instead, those who wish to do so may make a contribution to the International Bible Society in her memory, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
Fred C. Baines
Sept. 8, 1934 - July 26, 2003
Kingman, Ariz. - Fred C. Baines, 68, Kingman, Ariz., died Saturday July 26, 2003, of natural causes, with his loving wife Louise by his side.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at the Shaffer-Jensen Funeral Home in Payette. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Friends may pay their respects Sunday evening at the Shaffer Jensen Funeral Home in Payette.
Fred was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Harrison Ark., to Joseph B. and Eunice Baines. He moved with his family to Idaho as a young child. Fred graduated from Fruitland High School, where he was a star basketball player. He attended Boise Junior College where he also played Basketball, and then served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957.
Fred married Darlene Grigg Aug. 22 1959, and together they raised four sons on their farm in Burley. Fred enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he passed these passions on to his sons. After Darlene's death in 1979, Fred married his long time friend, Louise, in 1981.
Fred is survived by his wife, Louise, Kingman, Ariz.; his mother, Eunice Baines Monroe, Payette; his sister, and brother-in-law, Joanne and Herb Nitz, Meridian, his brother, and sister-in law, Lonnie and Sharon Baines, Vancouver, Wash.; his son, and daughter-in-law, Steve and LaDonna Baines, Madison, Wis., his son, Ron Baines, Payette, his son, and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Karen Baines, Boise, his son, Alan Baines, Burley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Baines; two brothers, James (Bud) and Robert (Bob) Baines.
Eunice Baines Monroe
June 29, 1911 - Nov. 11, 2004
Payette - Eunice Baines Monroe, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in Boise. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel. Herman Pope and Ronnie Rasmussen will officiate. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at the Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, 112 N. 9th St., Payette.
Eunice was born June 29, 1911, near Harrison, Ark., the eldest child of Robert L. and Pearl Mae Jones. Her schooling was completed in Harrison.
Eunice was married to Joseph B. Baines in the spring of 1928. To this union were born five children, JoAnne, J. Eugene (Bud), Fred C., Robert C., and Lonnie F. Baines. Eunice and Joe came to Idaho in 1937, and Payette has been home to Eunice since. She spent most of her life as a housewife, but worked as a practical nurse for several years. Eunice was married to Claude Monroe Sept. 28, 1976. Her hobby was gardening, especially flowers.
Eunice is survived by her daughter, JoAnne (Herbert) Nitz, Meridian; two daughters-in-law, Louise Baines, Kingman, Ariz. and Sharon Baines, Vancouver, Wash.; her sister, Lois (Oscar) Davidson, Harrison, Ark.; her brother, Vaughn (Mildred) Jones, Harrison, Ark.; twelve grandchildren, Steven (Ladonna) Baines of Madison, Wisconsin, Ronald Baines, Payette, Bryan (Karen) Baines, Boise, Alan Baines, Burley, Jeanne (Gordon) McCullough, Eugene, Douglas Baines, Fruitland, Anita Baines, Portland, Tara (Jason) Wann, Vancouver, Wash., Erich (Patti) Nitz, Fruitland, Gregory (Kristine) Nitz, Kuna, Kathy Burns, Eagle, Fred (Carolyn) Nitz, Meridian; 20 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eunice was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; two brothers, Robert Jones and Alfred Jones; her four sons; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Baines.
The family wants to thanks XL Hospice and their staff for their care of Eunice and also for their helpful concern for her family.

Pete Skow
Nov. 9, 1949 - Dec. 25, 2004
Weiser - Pete Skow, 55, lifelong resident of Weiser, passed away suddenly at his home of natural causes Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Thomason Funeral Chapel, Weiser. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser.
Pete was born Nov. 9, 1949, the son of Morgan and Anna March Skow, in Weiser. He attended Sunnyside School, Pioneer School, Weiser Junior High and graduated Weiser High School in 1968. He went to Boise State University on a football scholarship. Pete was a member of the BSU football team when they won the Camellia Bowl in 1970. He finished college in 1971 and came home to the ranch.
Pete married Kathy Giever August 14, 1970, in Weiser. They have three children, Morgan, Travis and Laraine.
Some of his favorite activities included deep-sea fishing off the coast of Washington, high mountain lake fishing above McCall and traveling. Pete enjoyed watching all of his children's activities. The last few years of his life , the fall and winter were spent traveling to all of Laraine's Idaho State University basketball games. Pete liked to drive around the ranch during the evening hours, that his family had homesteaded as it was a great source of pride to him.
Survivors include his wife Kathy of 34 years, Weiser; children, Morgan, Weiser; Travis, Denver; and Laraine (Jake) Barron of Pocatello; two grandsons, Toren and Kameron Skow and two granddaughters, Grace and Reagan Skow, two brothers, Kenny (Ranae) Skow, and Calvin (Della) and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Weiser High School girls basketball program for a special fund in his name.
Martin A. Flagg
Aug. 19, 1966 - Nov. 24, 2004
Payette - Martin A. Flagg, 38, Payette, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, in Boise. There will be no services at this time. A memorial service will be later. Cremation is under the direction of Mountain View Aclesa, Boise.
He was born Aug. 19, 1966, in Missoula, Mont., to James Flagg and Ardeen Taylor. He lived in Weiser and Payette most of his life.
He was a kind and loving person, always giving a helping hand to anyone whom he could help.
Martin is survived by his mother, Ardeen Taylor, Payette; father, James (Sharon) Flagg, Lewiston; brother, Kenneth (Veronica) Flagg, Nampa; sisters, Shawntell Flagg, Lewiston, Teresa (Craig) Clark, Weiser, Tara (Billy) Rhoton, Boise; and a special aunt, Dixie Lessner, Ontario; numerous nieces; nephews, cousins; aunts and uncles.
Martin was preceded in death by step-father, Bruce L. Taylor; sister, JoAnne Brechbiel; grandparents, Al and Maxine (Flagg) Howard, John and Ruby Moran; grandpa Flagg; aunt, Betty and uncle, Ernie Schwartz.
Merle Jay Palmer
July 2, 1920 - July 27, 2003
Fruitland - Merle Jay Palmer, 83, Fruitland, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Idaho Falls, of heart complications. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fruitland. Burial will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.
Merle resided in Fruitland, with his beloved wife of almost six years, LuEva Trefethen. LuEva and Merle enjoyed each other's company, gardening together, serving in the Boise temple and working as nursery leaders in the Spanish branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they have a posterity that includes 14 children, 60 grandchildren, and 61 great-grandchildren.
Merle was the twelfth of thirteen children born to Wesley and Lillian Ann Bushman July 2, 1920, in Taylor Ariz. He has two surviving sisters, Lois Allen and Ula Julian, both of whom reside in Mesa, Ariz.
From 1941 to 1943 Merle served as a missionary in the East Central States for the church. In 1946 he married Melvina Sloan and together they raised eight children.
Merle was a dairy farmer winning many awards. He was the Ayrshire grand champion three years in a row at the Payette county fair. At different times in his life he also serviced swimming pools, sold real estate, and sold dairy supplies. He has worked and lived in Taylor, Mesa, and Chino Valley Ariz. as well as Flowell and Provo Utah. He loved the people of Fruitland, and felt they treated him and his family well.
Merle and Melvina served two missions for the Church going to the Texas, San Antonio and the Florida Mission. They also served in the Boise, Temple.
Merle was a dedicated husband, father, and servant of the Lord who strove to be a good example and who never gave up in the face of adversity.
Merle is survived by his wife, Lueva Palmer, Fruitland; his children, Merlene Lillywhite, Aloha, Debra Hertzsch, Springille, Utah, Michael J. Palmer, Idaho Falls, Allan W. Palmer, Helper, Utah, Mark D. Palmer, Fruitland, Christopher R. Palmer, Fort Worth, Texas, Wayne G. Palmer, Idaho Falls, and Patrice Cossey, Orem, Utah.
Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Melvina Sloan Palmer; his siblings, Preston Palmer, Lettie Bates, Marie Home, Sarah Collinwood, Vera Murphy, Newell Palmer and Lehi Palmer.
We will all miss, but know that he was happy to move on.
