Andree Phyllis Baroni, 57, passed away, Sunday, January 16, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho. At Andree’s request no services will be held.
Andree was born on May 14, 1947 in Martinez, California to Raymond and Nancy Chapot. She was raised and attended schools in Martinez. She went on to San Jose State College and in 1970 earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
Andree made Sandpoint, Idaho her home in 1973, where she and her husband Richard Baroni raised their son Matthew, age 27. For the last 13 years she worked in the Deli at Yokes Grocery.
For exercise and pleasure, Andree spent countless hours hiking the cross country trails at Schweitzer Mountain Resort and Many of the trails in the Selkirk Mountains.
Andree is survived by her son Matthew Baroni of Roanoke, Virginia; former husband Richard Baroni of Sandpoint; brothers Eric Chapot of Tracy, California; Joseph (Lynne) Chapot of Forest Ranch, California; and Jess (Alison) Chapot of Martinez, California; sisters Suzanne (Paul Mariano) Chapot of Martinez, California; Corrine (Jim) Lashley of Salinas, California; and Chelste (Mike) Giacosa of Sonora, California.

John Frederick Semple, 58, passed away, Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Viewing for friends and family will be held from 5 – 8 pm, Monday, February 21, 2005 at the Lakeview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Lakeview Funeral Home with Charley Packard officiating. Full Military Honors will be presented by VFW Post #2453. Burial will follow at the Semple home on Rapid Lightening Creek.
John was born November 11, 1946 in Redwing, Minnesota to Virgil and Margaret Semple. He grew up and attended schools in California. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968, and served as a tank gunner in Germany during Vietnam.
John worked as a sanitation foreman at VandeKamp Bakery in Los Angeles for 15 years. In 1978 he moved to Sandpoint and began painting houses. He married Barbara Seiber on November 11, 2000 in Sandpoint. John was forced to retire in August 2003 due to health reasons.
John belonged to a 12 step recovery program for alcohol addiction. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, walking his dogs in the woods, and his beard.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Semple of Sandpoint; parents Virgil and Margaret Semple of Priest River; brother Jerry (Bev) Semple of Sandpoint; sister Janet (Karl) Dacy of Valencia, California; grandmother Melvina Semple of Wisconsin as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jim Semple on July 3, 2004.

Lola May Stein, 75, resident of Elmira, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sandpoint with Bishop Jeffrey Howell conducting. Visitations will be held one hour prior to the service in the Relief Society Room.
Lola was born on August 16, 1929 in Lodi, California to Austin and Hazel Smith. She grew up and attended schools Stockton, CA. She married Joseph Cortese on October 8, 1949 in Stockton. The couple moved to Boston where they started a family and later moved back to Stockton. Lola drove all kinds of busses in California, including a school bus, city transit and special needs bus. In 1976, Lola and Joseph divorced.
Lola married Lynford Stein on November 19, 1984 at his property in Elmira. She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, gardening, raising petunias, growing trees, and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is survived by her husband, Lynford Stein of Elmira, Idaho; two sons, Doug (Rita) Cortese of Wenatchee, Wash., and Marc Cortese of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Doreen (Ron) Dutcher of Ponderay, Idaho; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Mickey, Albert, Robert, Earl, Richard, Charlie and Donny; and two sisters Mary, and Nila.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joseph; a brother, Russell Smith; and an infant daughter, Mary Ann Cortese.

Pauline Lenore “Paula” Tinsley, 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 24, 2005 at The Bridge Assisted Living in Sandpoint.
Paula was born July 10, 1924 in Fruita, Colorado to Theodore and Nellie Reed. She grew up and attended schools in Fruita. She attended the University of Colorado where she studied accounting. Paula married Ishmael Worth Tinsley on July 22, 1942 in Clifton, Colorado. They were later divorced in 1968.
Paula then lived in Denver for a short period of time and later in Orange County, CA for six years. She moved to Havelock, N.C. in the early 80’s to be closer to her sister. She completed her accounting degree and worked as an accountant for the City of Havelock. After her retirement in 1990 she moved to Arcata, CA until November 2002 when she moved to Sandpoint, Idaho to be closer to family. She has been residing at The Bridge Assisted Living where she made many friends and was very happy.
She is survived by her sons Duane (Linda) Tinsley of Thomtom, Colorado; Michael (Linda) Tinsley of Careywood; five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. sister Helen (Homer) Gleckner of Sun City, California; brother Raymond (Lillian) Reed of Moreno Valley, California; and brother in law Gerald Speaker of Rifle, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters Cathleen Ann and Janita Sue Tinsley, and one sister Berniece Reed Speaker.

Alice M. Tucker, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 19, 2005 at the Evergreen Funeral Home in Everett, Washington. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Moravia Cemetery
near Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Alice was born June 18, 1926 in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, a quaint Cape Cod town, her parents were Harry and Mable Drew. Growing up among lighthouses, she herself was a beacon of light. She grew up going to Fenway Park watching the Boston Braves and later the Red Sox. She later became a huge Seattle Mariners fan especially Edgar Martinez.
Alice married Bruce Tucker in 1958 in Felmouth, MA. She faithfully followed him throughout his Air Force career. In 1963, they were stationed in Tacoma, WA and later settled in Granite Falls, WA. Staying true to her baseball roots, Alice was instrumental in starting Little League in Granite Falls. She also coached her daughter Laura’s high school softball team. She retired from the Everett School District in 1989, as a secretary and teachers aid. She moved to Sandpoint, ID February 2004 to be closer to her daughter.
Alice loved spending time at the Granite Falls Senior Center, and was a member of the VFW and Eagles. She had very strong family ties and was a spectacular, mother and grandmother. She was a great listener, and had a very calming presence. Alice had a great love for bingo and baseball. If a baseball game or sports event wasn’t on television she’d be watching Perry Mason, Law and Order, CSI, or anything involving a good mystery. She always expressed great pride and value in being an American citizen, but wasn’t into politics. She always extended her home and heart to those in need, including her canine companions.
She is survived by her three sons Rocky (Dee) Doane of Dennis, Massachusetts; Bruce (Kathy) Tucker of Baker City, Oregon; Wade (Denise) Tucker of Granite Falls, Washington; daughter Laura and husband Dr. George DeLand of Sandpoint; 12 grandchildren Lisa, Tina, Christin, Marty, and Tracy of Dennis, Massachusetts; Krista and Danielle McNeal and Leslie Tucker Sandpoint; Grant Tucker of Baker City, Oregon; Skyler, Gantz, and Cheyanne Tucker of Granite Falls, Washington and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Bruce Tucker, son Bobby Doane, and grandson Nathan Tucker.

Margaret Ruth Akers, 82, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 7, 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho surrounded by her son Jim, daughters-in-law Kate and Nancy, and Jasmine the cat.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint with the Rev. Dr. Nancy Copeland-Payton officiating.
Margaret was born June 2, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa to Maurice James and Pearl (Caldwell) Swarm. She grew up and attended schools in Des Moines, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1940. During World War II, Margaret lived on the east coast with her first husband while he served in the United States Navy.
She married John Akers in 1948 in Des Moines where the couple made their home. Margaret put herself through night school and was later recruited by Bankers Life Insurance Company (now Principal Life). She worked hard and was one of the first successful women life insurance agents. She later retired in 1987, and in 1991 moved to Sandpoint, Idaho.
Margaret was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, loved to sing in church choirs, and loved her pets. She baked the best lemon meringue pies anyone ever tasted, and baked thousands of chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Jim (Nancy Girth) Akers of Sagle; daughter in law Katie Akers of Sandpoint; grandsons John (Liza) Akers of Moscow; Virgil Akers serving with the 116th Battalion in Iraq, and Virgil’s wife Heather living in Coeur d’Alene; Kelly Akers of Seattle and Joseph Akers, currently serving at Lockland Air Force Base. She is also survived by three great grandchildren Quientin, Cameo, and Alicia Akers cousins Walter Caldwell of Keokuk, Iowa; and Donnas Swarm Logsdon of Perry, Iowa.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and husband John Akers in 1997.
