Garnet Hunter
WEST YELLOWSTONE — Garnet Hunter, 29, died July 9, 2010, of a brain aneurysm at South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
He was born Nov. 17, 1980, in Sun Valley, Idaho to R. Kip Hunter of West Yellowstone, Mont., and Martha Ewart Armstrong of South Lake Tahoe.
He loved the outdoors, snowboarding, skateboarding, music and art. He owned a window washing business and had been a private DJ for dance clubs. He was an entrepreneur by heart and was always thinking of new business opportunities.
He is survived by his fiancé, Keilgh Smith; parents; stepfather, Mark Armstrong; stepbrother, John Jay (Melissa) Armstrong; grandparents, Ralph and Shirlee Hunter of Swan Valley, Idaho; and uncles Barry, Scott and Dan Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Martha Ewart; and uncle Jack Ewart.
He had changed his name to Garnet Hunter-Armstrong. Garnet was a compassionate person and a beautiful spirit.
A memorial was held for him in Swan Valley, Idaho, Sunday, July 25. A memorial will be held for him at Fir Ridge in West Yellowstone at a later date to be determined.

Chester B. Chennault
WEST YELLOWSTONE — Chester B. Chennault, 101, died on June 28, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was born Oct. 1, 1908 in Spring Town, Texas. He spent 101 years, 270 days on this earth enjoying his family and friends.
Chester had the best of both worlds. He spent his summers in West Yellowstone, Mont., and his winters in Ft. Worth, Texas.
He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Chester was a mason in the Masonic Lodge.
Chester was a Lt. Commander and Navy pilot in World War II. He also taught aeronautics at the University of Georgia during the war. After the war he was a flight instructor, homebuilder, and motel owner and operator. He built one of the first motels in West Yellowstone to have indoor plumbing (Pinecrest Lodge).
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed reading stories of the wild west, which he was part of as he joined the United States Cavalry at the young age of 17.
He always enjoyed having a good time and an element of danger made it even better.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Oscar and Eva Chennault; his brother, Hurley Chennault; and his two wives, Margaret Bell Chennault and LaVenyle Chennault.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. William J. Wagner (June), Mrs. Jerry Alexander (Jane); his granddaughter, Kelli B. Crom; and his nephew, Max Chennault.
He was buried in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Chester will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Casey Joe Rinehart
PARKER — Casey Joe Rinehart, Parker, died early Sunday morning, October 31, 2010 in an automobile accident. He was born on April 2, 1979 in Boone, Iowa to Kevin and Collette Nebel Rinehart.
Casey attended school at Parker Elementary and South Fremont High School. After graduation he worked in many areas of agriculture and construction but mostly enjoyed his skills in roofing. He had worked at Artco as a press operator and with Gold’s North Fork Roofing in St. Anthony. He had recently moved to Utah to be near his brother, sister, and nephews and continue his construction trade.
Casey loved the outdoors, camping, four wheeling and most of all fishing. He was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and never missed taking his sons and nephews to the Fremont County Search and Rescue Demolition Derby. His nephews loved him for the tease he was and could always count on him for a wresting match.
Casey most loved being a dad to Kaden and Jesse. He considered his two boys his proudest accomplishments. Casey loved his family. He was a loyal friend to a close circle of people who knew they could count on him. Many will miss his smile, his laugh, and his sense of humor. Most recently he had the opportunity to volunteer his construction services for the Extreme Home Makeover in Pocatello. He was so honored and proud to be a part of helping make someone else’s life better by doing what he could to help.
He is survived by his sons, Jesse Ryan Rinehart of Jerome and Kaden Michael Rinehart of Idaho Falls, his parents, Kevin and Collette Rinehart of Island Park, brother, Cody Rinehart of Utah, sister, Kaylee Rinehart Jensen of Utah, and grandparents Evva Nebel of Burton and Bill Rinehart of Parker. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joe Nebel and Joyce Rinehart , Uncle Mike Rinehart and Aunt LaRane Briggs .
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Casey’s name to the Fremont Country Search and Rescue.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 4 at at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony. The family will receive friends Thursday evening prior to the memorial service, from 6 until 6:45 p.m.
Teddy Maynard Wight
Teddy Maynard Wight, 86, of Pocatello and Island Park, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at his home while surrounded by family and friends.
Teddy was born March 27, 1924 to Theodore Wight and May Best Wight in Moore, Montana. Teddy spent his childhood in Moore.
Teddy was a member of the Marines at the end of World War II and served his country in the South Pacific and Pocatello. He came home with the Marines at the end of World War II to Pocatello and met his wife. Teddy and Martha Jean Rice married in Pocatello. After marriage he stayed in Pocatello. Together they had two children, Scott and Roxanne.
Teddy worked at Garrett Freightlines, where he retired after 35 years. He was a lifelong member of the teamsters. He also was a member of the Elk’s. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, being in the outdoors and spending time in his Shotgun cabin in Island Park.
Teddy is survived by his son, Scott Wight of Pocatello; daughter, Roxanne Wight of Magna, Utah; brothers, Gene and Doug Wight of Montana; sisters, Joy Hudson of Pt. Orchard, Oregon, Grace Hellar of Judith Gap, Montana, Marge Clark of Baker City, Oregon and Shirley Allar of Eatenville, Washington; seven grandchildren, Trevor Wight, Corey Wight, Matthew Wight, MaKenzi Wight, Brett Spiker, Brian Spiker and Brad Spiker; and ten great grandchildren.
Teddy is preceded in death by his wife, Martha; and his parents.
Military Rites were offered by the Pocatello American Legion. Memorial services will be held in Island Park at a later date. Family is under the care of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
Melissa Dene Gallegos, 37
Melissa Dene Gallegos, 37, the daughter of Raymond and Karen Smith of Blackfoot, died peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2009 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Melissa was born May 24, 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Darla Dene Jensen and Gordon Walter Snow. She moved to Blackfoot when she was 9 months old to live with her aunt and uncle, Raymond and Karen Smith, who raised her to adulthood.
Melissa attended school in Blackfoot, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1989. She made friends easily and was a loyal and loving friend to many.
Melissa married Michael Gallegos in 1987. They were later divorced but have remained good friends.
Melissa worked for many years as a waitress at Martha’s Café in Blackfoot and later at Oakridge Convenience Store. She lived for a short period of time in Pocatello and Montpelier but later returned to live in Blackfoot. Melissa was a good worker and always gave full measure to her employers.
Melissa’s crowning glory was her three sons, Tason, Adrian and Logan. She loved them fiercely and they were her life.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Raymond & Karen Smith of Blackfoot; her father, Gordon Snow of LaVerkin, UT; her children, Tason Gallegos (21) of Salt Lake City, UT, Adrian Jimenez (18) and Logan Smith (12), both of Blackfoot; her brothers, Wade Smith of Lake City, FL, Bryant Smith of Gypsum, CO; sisters Susan (Layne) Anderson and Stacy Smith, both of Blackfoot; brothers, Gordon Snow and Frank Woolsey, both of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Jerry Diat and sister, Holly Diat; brothers Darren, Eric and Jon Hardman, all of Springville, UT and sister, Leslie Nielsen of Spanish Fork, UT. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her entire family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Darla, an infant daughter, Angela Karen Jimenez, and her grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the funeral home and again for again for one hour prior to service.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
Betty Lee Anthony, 82
Betty Lee Anthony, 82, of Firth, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the home of her son, Bruce, in Firth. She was born February 2, 1928 at Mills, Utah to Hans Marion and Charlotte Howard Hanson. As a child she moved around a bit, living in Mills, Nephi, Mona and Star, Utah, then Rexburg, Firth and Blackfoot, Idaho.
On May 29, 1948 she married Vernon M. Anthony in Blackfoot, Idaho. They made their home in Kimball, where they have resided since their marriage and were blessed by three great children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple on December 5, 1979.
Vernon preceded her in death on January 25, 2006.
Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she has served as a Primary Teacher, in the Young Women’s, cooking specialist, and with her husband at the Family History Center in Blackfoot.
Betty helped build and grow Anthony Auto Parts from it’s inception and was a devoted mother and homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers, she was a great seamstress and an excellent cook.
She always liked trying new recipes.
Betty is survived by her children: Bruce Vern (Janice) Anthony, of Firth and Mary Jane (Tony) Brand, of Twin Falls, Idaho; four sisters, Nelda (Jerry) Richard, of Idaho Falls, LuWanna Baxter, of Elisnore, California, Charlotte Ann (Steve) Frederickson, of Shelley, Joan (Gary) Vanderwood, of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren: Derrick (Emily) Peterson, Kellie (Drew) Park, Camber (David) Lewis, Melody Anthony, Janae (Travis) Evans and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, one daughter Cherie, her parents and one brother, Marion Junior Hanson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Kimball Ward LDS Church with Bishop Boyd Petersen conducting. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 30,2011 at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery.
