Harold Buchanan
OTTUMWA - Harold David Buchanan, 87, formerly of Ottumwa and now of Lake Tapawingo, died June 8, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs, Mo.
He was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Farson to William and Maggie Hawthorne Buchanan.
Surviving are his wife, Mary "Bernice" of Lake Tapawingo; a daughter, Linda L. Skaff of Kansas City; and two grandsons.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at First Baptist Church in Ottumwa, the Rev. Henry Lippert officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery
after the memorial service.
No visitation is planned
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ottumwa.
Shrine of Memories Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Alta Adams
EXLINE - Alta Adams, 87, of Exline died June 25, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
She was born Dec. 28, 1914, near Dean to Andrew and Ida Forsythe Oliver. She married Nathan Adams May 14, 1951. He died in May 1976.
Surviving are three sisters, Alice Horn, Ada Bailey and Emma Cole, all of Centerville.
The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Thomas Lange Funeral Home, the Rev. Jim Gubser officiating. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery
near Exline.
Visitation will be all day today, Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Zoar Women's Society and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
Lyle Visser
BUSSEY -- Lyle W. Visser, 73, of Bussey died May 30, 2002, at VA Medical Center, Iowa City.
He was born March 23, 1929, in Bussey to Walter and Helen Loma Visser. He married Bonnie Yates. He married Rose Rumbaugh in 1971.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Carol Reed of Bussey and Pam Comstock and Lyaine Claver of Lovilia; stepchildren Mary Garr of Bussey, Jim Wood of Sandyville, Doris McCombs of Hamilton and Grace Bonnett of Bussey; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters Norma and Dorothy of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Bussey United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dr. Samuel Sabramanian officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery , Bussey.
Pallbearers will be David Carlson, Bill Ellis, Jeff French, Butch Heaberlin, Milo McCombs and Billy Wood. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Swanson.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church, Hamilton.

Mae Watson
OSKALOOSA -- Mae Hanna Watson, 102, of State Center, formerly of Oskaloosa, died May 31, 2002, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1899, in Marshalltown to John W. and Edith Bramer Skinner. She married Robert L. Watson Dec. 28, 1927, in Marshalltown. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1969.
She was a 1918 graduate of Marshalltown High School and a 1922 graduate of Nurses Training at Abbott Hospital in Oskaloosa. She studied anesthesiology in Chicago, and worked as a nurse in Oskaloosa, Marshalltown, State Center and the Chicago area. She moved to Maywood, Ill. , after her marriage and she worked as a nurse anesthetist. She retired in Oskaloosa in 1968, and in 1998, went to State Center Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Leo Skinner.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. today (Monday) at Riverside Chapel at Riverside Cemetery
in Marshalltown, with the Rev. Rich King officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation Sunday in Garland-VanArkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa.
Ralph Ward
BATAVIA -- Ralph A. Ward, 78, of Orange, Calif., formerly of Batavia, died May 28, 2002, in Orange, Calif.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Agency to Earl and Ethel Redman Ward. He married Evelyn Miller Jan. 29, 1947, in Chicago.
He was a welder for the Garden Grove Unified School District for 30 years, retiring in 1987.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Rhonda Hughes of Villa Park, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a brother, George Ward of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Earl Ward.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Batavia Cemetery
with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating.
Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. today (Monday) in Kremer Funeral Home, Batavia, and again Tuesday, in the funeral home, one hour prior to service time.
Robert Sapp
ELDON -- Robert L. Sapp, 80, of Eldon died March 25, 2002, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Eldon to Oscar and Anna Allman Sapp. He married Lucille Carter Aug. 20, 1944, in Eldon.
Surviving are his wife; two brothers, Jack of Hedrick and Jerry of Eldon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Eldon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Judy Deweber officiating. Interment will be in the Eldon Cemetery . Military rites will be conducted by the O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 American Legion of Ottumwa.
Open visitation will begin at noon today in Kremer Funeral Home, Eldon. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. with family visitation immediately following until 8:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ron, Stephen and Paul Sapp, Ron and David Carter, Bryan Marker, Deron Durflinger and Mike Conway.
Honorary pallbearers will be James "Gov" Conrad, Oscar Bruns, Jack Snakenberg, Conley Slutts, Don Pool, Ross Wells and Glen Hughes.
Memorials may be directed to the Eldon United Methodist Church or the Rock Island Depot restoration committee in Eldon.

OTTUMWA - Dickie D. Proctor, 53, of 13655 60th St., died 2:20 p.m. June 2, 2002, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Audrey Meyers
OTTUMWA -- Audrey J. Meyers, 54, of Marietta, Ga., died May 29, 2002.
She was born Aug. 29, 1947, to Dr. Robert and Nancy Meyers in Richmond, Va.
She moved to Ottumwa in 1953 and graduated from Ottumwa High School. She attended college in Colorado and Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. She taught school for 20 years, several of them in Ottumwa.
Surviving are her daughter, Midi Ana Bilik-Franklin of Marietta, Ga.; a son, Phillip Bilik of Marietta, Ga.; her mother, Nancy Meyers of Ottumwa; two brothers, Robert Meyers Jr. of Redmond, Ore., and Richard Meyers of Seneca, Ore.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father.
The body was cremated.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sue Babovec officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Happy Trails Pet Therapy, P.O. Box 76961, Roswell, Ga. 30076.
Barbara Meyer
OTTUMWA -- Barbara J. Meyer, 82, of 5176 Skyline Drive, Syracuse, N.Y., formerly of Ottumwa, died May 31, 2002, at her home of cancer.
She was born in Oak Park, Ill. She married Daniel R. Meyer.
She graduated from Wheaton College, Norton, Mass., in 1941. She was a part-time executive assistant for a manufacturing plant for 11 years, retiring in 1985. She volunteered and served as officer of hospital auxiliaries in Ottumwa; Barron, Wis.; and Glen Ellyn, Ill. She was a member of King's Daughters and Sons Promise Circle since 1997.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Carol M. Smith of Onondaga Hill; a son, Daniel R. Meyer Jr. of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private.
