Betty Glasglow
CENTERVILLE -- Betty Glasgow, 76, of Centerville, died Sept. 25, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville,
She was born March 31, 1926 at Centerville to Frank White and Eva Brown White. She married James Harvey Glasgow in S.D. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters Nancy Diekman of Sandy, Utah, and Elizabeth Clements of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sons James Glasgow of Furport, Wash. and Gary Glasgow of Spokane, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister Ruby Sumpter of Moulton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a son Leslie.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Eaton Cemetery.
Visitation was 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the Dale Church and may be left or mailed to Thomas Lange Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
Charles Gilliland
SIGOURNEY -- Charles C. Gilliland, 91, of Sigourney, died Sept. 25, 2002, at the Sigourney Care Center.
He was born July 17, 1911 near Sigourney to James W. and Leona Allen Gilliland. He married Mary Louise Myers March 19, 1933 in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death June 20, 1996.
He attended school in Lancaster and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1930 and attended the Iowa Business School, Ottumwa. He had been a farmer; worked for Keokuk Co.; and the Dept. of Revenue, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Webb Lodge No. 182 A.F. and A.M., Sigourney and the Lancaster Christian Church.
He is survived by a son Richard Gilliland of Nellyford, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lancaster Christian Church with Rev. Dave Matteson officiating. Burial will be at Pennington Cemetery , near Sigourney.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Charles Fash
OSKALOOSA -- Dr. Charles L. Fash, 51, of Oskaloosa, died April 5, 2003, at his home.
He was born June 3, 1951, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of Louis and Stelsa Mayle Fash.
He graduated from Amphi Theater High School in Tucson, Ariz., with the class of 1969. Following graduation, he attended the University of Arizona from 1969-1971; he then transferred to Vennard College in University Park where he received his B.A. in Bible in 1974. He then moved to Phoenix Ariz. and attended Arizona State where he received his B.A. and his master's in education in 1976. He was the pastor of the Grace Evangelical Methodist Church in Phoenix from 1974-1978, while taking classes. He received his EdD in education from Northern Arizona University in 1993. In 1978, he started Faith Life Fellowship and Academy in Phoenix Ariz., where he worked until 1999, when he took the positions of academic dean and head of the Education Department at Vennard College in University Park. He held that position until March 2003. He was also currently the pastor for the What Cheer Baptist Church in What Cheer. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa. He loved his family and also enjoyed playing basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Fash of Oskaloosa; three sons, Joshua Fash, Jonathan Fash and Jordan Fash, all of Oskaloosa; three daughters, Jodi Bell, Jenni Fash and Julianna Fash, all of Oskaloosa; and one sister, Betty Phillips of Pella.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Jack Vernon Connor officiating. Burial will be in the University Park Cemetery
in University Park.
Visitation will begin today after 5 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, and the family will be present on Tuesday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Vennard College.
Ruth Estey
OTTUMWA -- Ruth May Estey, 82, of 145 S. Iowa Ave., died at 10:10 p.m. Dec. 6, 2002, at her home.
She was born June 30, 1920, to Harry and Nina Morrison Waters at Derry, N.H.
She grew up in Derry, N.H. where she attended Pinkerton Academy. She had worked in a shoe factory for several years. She was a charter member of Lighthouse Assembly of God, Peoria, Ariz. She moved to Ottumwa in August 1995 and recently transferred her membership to First Pentecostal Assembly of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Buckles of Ottumwa; two sons, Donald Estey of Ottumwa and Brian Estey of Florence, Kan.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Leonard 0. Thomas and Lyndon E. Estey; two daughters, Eileen Thomas and Brenda Estey; and a son, Kenneth Thomas.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Pentecostal Assembly of God with the Rev. George Edgerly officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. today (Monday) at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Fred Thomas, Gary Smith, Jeff Hasley, Keith Hill, Pat Shaw and Justin Kaufman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and David Estey and Bob Weaver.

Carl Ellenberger
BLOOMFIELD -- Carl W. Ellenberger, 89, of Des Moines, formerly of Bloomfield died Jan. 30, 2003, at Kavanagh House on 56th, Des Moines.
He was born March 3, 1913 at Davis County. He married Kathryn Sept. 7, 1942 at Lancaster, Mo.
He had been a marketing manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield retiring in 1978. He served in the United States Navy. He was a member and elder of Highland Park Christian Church and member of Valley View Village Mens Club.
He is survived by his wife; son James Ellenberger of Perry; daughter Harriet Ellenberger of St. John, New Brunswick; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Valley View Village, Des Moines. Burial of cremated remains will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bloomfield Odd Fellows Cemetery.
No visitation is planned.
Memorials may be made to Highland Park Christian Church, Valley View Village and Hospice of Central Iowa.

Alexander "Alex" Davis
DOUDS -- Alexander L. "Alex" Davis, 32, of rural Douds died at 1:43 a.m. Dec. 8, 2002, at University Hospital, Iowa City from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on Van Buren County Route J-40 west of Bonaparte.
He was born Dec. 12, 1969, in Keosauqua to Arthur and Fay Phillips Davis.
He graduated from Van Buren Community High School in 1988, attended Indian Hills Community College and graduated from Harley-Davidson Technical Institute, Phoenix, Ariz., in 1999. He was a part-time motorcycle mechanic, had worked at Douds Stone Inc., and was presently employed as a loader operator at Dexter Foundry, Fairfield. He was Van Buren County Co-coordinator for ABATE of Iowa, an instructor in the "Share the Road" program of ABATE and president of M-16 motorcycle group.
Surviving are his parents of rural Douds; two sisters, Kelley Davis of Humeston and Katie Davis of Douds; and two brothers, Andy and Phillip Davis, both of Douds.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the Rev. John Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 3 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Memorials to the family for donation to ABATE educational programs and other youth organizations may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 15226 Iowa Oak Grove Ave., Douds 52551.
James Darner
FREMONT -- James Lowell Darner, 83, of Des Moines, formerly of Fremont, died Jan. 30, 2003, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.
He was born Feb. 17, 1919 at Fremont to Fred Darner and Edith Birdelle Darner. He married Jean L. Rockwell. She preceded him in death.
He had been a self employed construction estimator. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He had resided at Des Moines since 1939. He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Highland Park Business Club, and North Central Community Organization.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise Curry of Des Moines and Karla Oeth of Ogden; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and sister Helen Estes of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines . Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery , West Des Moines.
Visitation will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to In Trust Hospice, Des Moines.
Weltha Caughell
FAIRFIELD -- Weltha J. Caughell, 97, formerly of Packwood, died April 17, 2003, at Nelson Nursing Home, Fairfield.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Packwood Cemetery
with Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating.
There will be no visitation per her wishes.
Memorials may be made to the Packwood Christian Church.
