MARY E. (BETTY) BOOTHROYD
BRITT - Mary E. (Betty) Boothroyd, 78, of Britt, passed away Friday (Jan. 21, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, with Father Marvin Bries officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Britt.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ewing Funeral Home, Britt, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. parish wake service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.
Mary, the daughter of Frederick H. and Mary (Mc Namara) Paranteau, was born May 15, 1921, in Dudley, Mass. In 1942 she graduated from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, Mass. She accepted a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force Corp of Nurses and was stationed in Gulfport at Gulfport Air Field, Miss., where she met and married Edwin L. Boothroyd on July 21, 1944. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Britt.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin; two sons, Edwin R. and his wife, Mary Lou, of Britt and James and his wife, Maria, of Mason City; three grandsons, Todd and his wife, Kara, of Clive, Tony and his wife, Mina, of West Des Moines and Toby of Britt; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia and her husband, Edwin Devlin; and one nephew and his wife, all of Dudley, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister and her twin brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, with the Rev. Wayne Ellingson officiating. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery.

CHARLES CITY - John F. Monroe, Sr., 82, a resident of 1907 Owen Street, Charles City, died Friday (Jan. 21, 2000) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with the Rev. Ted Clark of First Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Charles City with military honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

CEDAR RAPIDS - Paul H. Coty, 90, a former Mason City resident, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000) at the Willow Gardens Care Center in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. Mason City, with the Rev. Paul Coty II officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

THEODORE LEE 'TED' YOUNG
MASON CITY - Theodore Lee "Ted" Young, 72, of 18 S. Willow Green Court, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) in Houston, Texas.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with a 6 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary and a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Mason City Exchange Club.
Ted was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Algona, the son of Victor and Hester (Jasperson) Young. He attended school in Mason City and Clear Lake and then continued his education at the Washington University of St. Louis, Mo.
Ted served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the service he moved back to Clear Lake. He married Julia Hofer on March 31, 1951, in Clear Lake.
Ted worked for Standard Oil for over fourteen years in sales. He bought the Miller distributorship and started Young Distributors and later River City Realty retiring in 1978.
Ted enjoyed sailing, traveling to Florida and spending time with his granddaughter in Texas. He was a very devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He was very involved with the Mason City Exchange Club and enjoyed helping with the fireworks.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Mason City, Mason City Knights of Columbus 1006 and the Mason City Exchange Club.
Ted is survived by his wife, Julia Young, of Mason City; one daughter, Nancy Jackson and her husband, William, of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Hofer Jackson of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Jacque Young Ecoff of Leesburg, Florida; and three nieces, Terry Arons of Cedar Rapids, Vickie Kelly of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Kathy Palmer of Tallahassee, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Young in 1997; and his brother, Robert Young.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Salem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Sara Beth Akre and the Rev. Roger Dykstra officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery , Lake Mills, with military rites by the Lake Mills Otto/Chose Posts #235.
