Thomas Miles
Thomas Lewis Miles, 60, of Blue Grass, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Genesis West, Davenport.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian Center, Davenport, with visitation one hour before. Private burial is at a later date in Montpelier, Iowa, cemetery .
He was born July 15, 1945.
Surviving are wife, Eleanor, Montpelier; son, Thomas Miles, Alabama; daughter, Daffney Drazzell, Georgia; seven stepchildren, including Max Pittman, Davenport, Jason and Maurice Strong, Blue Grass; 32 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings.
Carolyn Neal
Funeral services for Carolyn S. Neal, 63, of LeClaire, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Gospel Church, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
Carolyn died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf. A memorial fund has been established.
Carolyn Kelley was born Sept. 3, 1942, in White Oak, Ark., daughter of Gertrude and Kenneth Roberts Kelley. She married
Delmar Neal March 1, 1959, in Coal Valley.
She had worked as a nurse's aide at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital and at Riverview Health Care. Carolyn loved playing music and singing and enjoyed quilting and sewing.
Survivors include daughters and spouses, Velma and Steve Kopatich, Rapids City, Lolita and Roger Dell, Davenport, Loretta and Orton Hoxie, Davenport, Rhonda Neal and Joe Trujillo, LeClaire, and Melissa and Jay Hougas, Durant; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her father, Kenneth Kelley, Coal Valley; sisters, Melba Crampton, Milan, and Brenda DeShane, Moline; a brother, Gary Kelley, East Moline; and special friends, Richard Bowling and Marie and Al Colflesh.
She was preceded in death by her husband; mother; and infant son, Billy Joe Kelley.
Charlotte Taylor
Charlotte Elaine Taylor, infant daughter of Lori Brown and Calvin Taylor, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Genesis East, Davenport.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery , Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.

Linda C. Twist, 56, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Genesis West, Davenport.

James Hansen
James Wayne Hansen, 73, of Rock Island, formerly of Milan, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at his home.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, where Milan American Legion Post 569/200 and VFW Post 1303 will conduct military honors. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.
James was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Moline, son of Ralph E. and Hazel Anderson Hansen. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Hansen married
Bonna Robbins June 14, 1952, at Camp Cook, Calif.
James worked as a carpenter for International Harvester Farmall Works and Augustana College for several years. Mr. Hansen was the past mayor of Milan, and he served 12 years as a Milan trustee. James played a key role in the building of the Milan Civic Center.
He was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed camping and fishing.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Bonna; son, Kitrick Hansen, Andalusia; daughters, Kari (Ronald) Beswick, Rock Island, and Elizabeth Gerber, Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Stacy (Timothy) Rodriguez, Rock Island, Sara (Derek) Dempsey, Davenport, David Gerber, Houston, Seth Hansen, Davenport, and Chase Hansen, Davenport; two great-granddaughters, Ariel Rodriguez, Rock Island, and Elizabeth Rodriguez, Muscatine, Iowa; stepgrandchildren, Matthew (Kristin) Beswick, Vermont, Genny Beswick, Phoenix, Ariz.; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kaeden and Britton; brother, Jerry (Dorothy) Hansen, Mason, Ohio. Mr. Hansen was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Pathway Hospice for the wonderful care that Mr. Hansen received during his illness. His daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, their spouses, and his great-grandchildren wish to express their gratitude to him for a life full of love, laughs and happiness.

Carl Eugene Pippenger, 64, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Private interment will be in Carbon Cliff cemetery . Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.
Carl was born July 21, 1941, in Rushville, Ill., son of Glen and Eleanor Engels Pippenger.
Survivors (and spouses) include a sister, Diana (Charles) Leptien, Rock Island; and brothers, Donald Pippenger, Sullivan, Ill., Richard (Judy) Pippenger, Harlem, Ga., and Patrick Pippenger, Moline. His parents and brothers, James and Elbert, preceded him in death.
Gary Meier
Gary E. Meier, 59, of Moline, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Parkview Terrace Health Care Center, East Moline.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Graveside services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Gray Mound cemetery , Coatsburg, Ill.
Gary was born July 12, 1946, in Quincy, Ill., son of Harold and Rose Haley Meier. He married
Marcia Hayes in 1967 in Green Rock, Ill. He graduated from Moline High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal for 28 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, and enjoyed golf and camping.
Gary is survived by his wife, Marcia; his father, Harold Meier, Moline; two children and their spouses, Gary Allan and Paula Meier, Coal Valley, and Penny and Eric Nelson, Geneseo; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Shelby, Colby and Logan Meier, and Chantel, Mike and Shannon Nelson; and a brother, Joe Allan Meier, Moline.

Jeannette VanIseghem
Jeannette Youngvorst VanIseghem, 96, of Moline, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at the Ruth's Hospice in Milwaukee, Wis.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at The Salvation Army, 4129 W. Villard Ave., Milwaukee, Wis., with Elder Joshua Kennedy presiding. Memorials may be made to the Moline Salvation Army.
She was born in Paterson, N.J., on July 16, 1909, to George Garrett Youngvorst and Christina VanWyke.
Jeannette worked for the Moline Iron Works, where she served as a union steward. Following her retirement from Moline Iron Works, she worked at Moline Public Hospital as a maid. She joined the Salvation Army in 1943, where she served as a Sunday school leader and a leader of many worship activities. Her daughter was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 1953. Jeannette retired to Milwaukee, where she lived with her nephew and continued ministering and conducting Bible studies until she became tired and ill because of to her age.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Donald Merle Nelson and Nancy Kay Nelson Schaeffer, Michigan; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Donald Nelson, Joseph Nicholas Nelson and Lacey Kay Schaeffer; two nephews, Charles "Chuck" A. Kennedy Jr., Greenwood, Ind., and James "Jim" Luke Kennedy, Milwaukee; a niece, Phyllis C. Kennedy Self, Richmond, Va.; four great-nieces and two great-nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; and her daughter, Katherine "Kay" VanIseghem Nelson.

Richard R. Kuster, 67, of Kewanee, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Cremation rites were accorded and graveside services and inurnment will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. Rux, Kewanee, is handling arrangements.
He was born Dec. 11, 1938, to Ray and Darlene Stead Kuster.
Survivors include his sons, Stephen (wife, Clara), Kenneth (wife, Jeri), both Kewanee; daughters, April (fiance, Paul Clark Jr.), Laura, both Kewanee; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; very special friend, Mary Ellen Doyle, Kewanee; special cousins, Roberta Stone, Diamond, Mo., Beverly Beauprez, Kewanee; special friends, Sam Henson, Mission, Texas, and Myron Laub, Kewanee.
Susan Lesniewski
Susan "Susie" Lesniewski, 55, of Prophetstown, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at her home.
Services are noon Friday at Prophetstown United Methodist. Visitation is 10 a.m. to services at church. Cremation will follow, and private inurnment is in Riverside cemetery , Prophetstown, at a later date. Gibson & Son, Prophetstown, is handling arrangements.
She was born Nov. 8, 1950, to William and Betty Bollman III. She married
Brad Lesniewski Oct. 31, 1980.
Survivors are husband; daughters (and spouses), Brook (Dwayne) Dawson, Savage, Minn., Britt (Joseph Grimaldi) Lesniewski, Centreville, Md.; grandchildren, Jonah and Chloe Dawson; brothers, William Bollman IV, Mitch Bollman, both Prophetstown; mother, Betty Bollman, Prophetstown. Her father preceded her in death in 2000.
Jim Miller
Jim Miller, 72, of California, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at the Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Los Altos, Calif., at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. Donations may be made to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 585 N. Mary Ave, Sunnyvale, Calif. 94085.
Jim was born in Larimore, N.D., to Elvin James Miller and Jennie Yarde Miller on Aug. 20, 1933. He graduated from Sherrard High School in 1951, where he was vice president of his class in his junior and senior years and was active in football, track and basketball. But it was basketball where he excelled, and, in his senior year, he and his team won the regional championship under the coaching of John Reaks. He received a basketball scholarship to the University of New Mexico, where he studied engineering.
With the encouragement of his Granddad Yarde and his basketball coach, John Reaks, he joined the service and was accepted into flight training at Pensacola, Fla., as a jet pilot. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954. He was assigned to a fighter squadron at the El Toro Marine Base in Southern California. On New Year's Eve, shortly after arriving in California, he was introduced to his future wife, Marge. They were married
the following year and lived in Laguna Beach, where he spent another year with his squadron before taking his honorary discharge in 1958.
The family settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where Jim pursued a career in commercial construction, retiring in 1995.
Jim will be remembered for his strength of character, honesty, integrity, compassion, great sense of humor, and devotion to his family and friends. The depth of loss his family feels is balanced by understanding the value of his presence and the many people who have loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Murnan Miller; and daughters, Karen Karay, Taos, N.M., and Barbara Shewfelt, Palo Alto; grandchildren, Derek Shewfelt, Ryland Karay and SierraDawn Kirkpatrick Karay Crow; his sister and brother-in-law, June and Dan Goben, Viola; brothers and sister-in-law, Gordon Miller, East Moline, Terry and Pat Miller, Scottsdale, Ariz.; his aunt, Kathryn Brown, Aledo; and his uncle and aunt, Tad and Marilyn Yarde, Monmouth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Jennie Miller; a brother, Charles; sister-in-law, Janice; nephew, Todd Miller; and his first granddaughter, Erin Star Kirkpatrick.

Tim died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, while on vacation.
He was born Nov. 7, 1944, to Robert and Rosemary Motto.
Survivors are siblings and their spouses, Vincent and Connie Motto, Blue Grass, Robert and Patricia Motto, Mary and Mike Stroehle, Gerry Motto, all Bettendorf; one nephew, seven nieces and three great-nieces.
