Barbara Livingston
Barbara Ann Livingston, 62, of East Moline, formerly of Carthage, Mo., died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her home.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage.
Barbara was born on April 11, 1942, in Moline, the daughter of Leo Paul and Mary Alice Strobbe DeGraeve. She married
John Joseph Myers on July 16, 1960, in East Moline. She later married
Allen Baker Livingston on March 28, 1969, in Dixon, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2003.
She dearly loved traveling and working with her husband, Allen, and they co-owned A&B Trucking, working with Reliable Carriers for 13 years until retiring in 1999.
Barbara was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural East Moline. She loved her faithful companion, Sitka.
Survivors (and spouses) include her daughters, Terri Lynn (Timothy) Murga, Rock Island, Tami Lynn Slama, Tipton, Iowa; sons, Mark Allen Meyers, Ozawkie, Kan., Eric Allen Livingston, and Erron Larkin Livingston, both of Davenport; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Harvi Ann) DeGraeve, Phoenix, Ariz., and Donald (Elvia) Jaggers, Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Estella Miller
Estella 'Stella' Miller, 82, of East Moline, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center, East Moline.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Christ the King Catholic Church.
Estella Verslype was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Silvis, the daughter of Leon and Zulma Van Steenkiste Verslype. She married
Lester Miller Feb. 18, 1938, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He died June 2, 2000.
Mrs. Miller retired from the former East Moline State Hospital. She was an active volunteer and she enjoyed playing cards. But most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lorraine Miller, East Moline; grandchildren, Melinda and Melissa Miller, East Moline, David and Kim Parry, Sugar Grove, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan and Logan Parry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and William Dunlop, Ft. Meyers, Fla., Alice Elizabeth and Gene Poling, Moline, Elsie Lyphout, East Moline, Margaret and George Collins, East Moline; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Lucille Miller, Olive Branch, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Annie Miller, East Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Charlotte `Charlie` Young
Charlotte 'Charlie' Young, 86, formerly of East Moline and Cordova, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the West Wing Care Center, DeWitt, Iowa.
There will be no services. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charlotte Ann Waggett was born March 24, 1918, in LaSalle, Ill., a daughter of Thomas and Adeline Hirsh Waggett. On April 18, 1940, Charlotte was united in marriage to Oswald Edward Young. Mr. Young preceded her in death in 1987.
'Charlie, ' as she was best known, was a part-time post-mistress at the Cordova Post Office for many years. She also had served as a volunteer member of the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Allan Hanson, Hampton, Ill., and Mary and Ron Scott, Silvis; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jane Young, Tom's River, N.J.; grandchildren, Amy Harris, Scott Hanson, Jenifer Hanson, Kathy Nino, Marcia Nino, Becky Schnack, Bobbi Jo Myetich, Christine Hoffman, and Catherine Weintraum. In addition to her husband, Charlie was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Shaun Tanner; and sister, Norma Nebenzhal.
Gerald Montreuil
Gerald 'Jerry' Montreuil, 67, Silvis, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation one hour prior to services. Further arrangements are pending. Among survivors is his wife, Debra.
Kay DeDobbelaere
Kay H. DeDobbelaere, 81, of Milan died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her daughter's home in Reynolds, Ill.
Services are 4 p.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Milan, with visitation 3 p.m. to services. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Kay was born May 29, 1923, in Bristol, England, to Frank and Mary Ann Garrett. She married
Arthur DeDobbelaere on Nov. 17, 1945, in Bristol. He preceded her in death June 1, 1969, in Rock Island.
Kay served in the Women's Land Army of England. She worked as a school grounds monitor at Denkmann School in Rock Island. She also worked at Lutheran Hospital, where she retired in 1988.
Kay enjoyed doing ceramics and her yard and flowers, but mostly being with her family and friends.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella Fuller, Reynolds, Barb and Ken Willis, Alpha, and Paula and Andy Voss, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sue DeDobbelaere, Taylor Ridge; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Ward and Christine Brock, England; brothers, Brian Garrett, England, and Ken and Ray Garrett, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

Eugene Blaser
Eugene J. 'Gene' Blaser, 74, of Fort Myers, Fla., died June 2, 2004.
Graveside services, with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force, will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Florida National cemetery , Bushnell. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Monday at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. In his memory memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Lee County, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
He was born in Rock Island, a son of the late Henry R. and Mary Vanetta Blaser.
Gene was a 27 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea and Vietnam as a crew chief, he was awarded many ribbons and medals including the Bronze Star. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. He moved from Orlando in 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joanne; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Melissa Darby, Ohio; his stepdaughter and her husband, Beverly and Ralph Huschle, Englewood, Fla.; his grandchildren, Ryan Darby and Andrea Beaudry; his nephew, Jeff Blaser; and his niece, Julie Agan. He was preceded by his brothers, Keith and Virgil.
Norman Merrill
Norman L. Merrill, 49, of Colona died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Burial is in Dayton cemetery , Colona. Visitation was Friday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Memorials may be made to Stormie Sunshine Barnes Education Fund and may be sent or delivered to any Blackhawk State Bank location.
He was born Sept. 10. 1954, in Moline, the son of Joseph E. and Irene DeVore Merrill. He married
Cathi Stoddard April 13, 1974, in Coatsburg, Ill.
He was a mechanic currently employed at Watermans Transmission Service in Carbon Cliff for the past 11 years. Prior to that, he worked at Horns Auto Salvage, Colona. He also was a union electrician and worked at the former Rock Island Lines Railroad.
He enjoyed bow hunting and Harley Davidsons. He collected Mustang memorabilia.
Survivors include his life companion, Rhonda Grogg, Colona; sons, Michael and Bo Guy Merrill, Colona; daughters, Maria (Jeremy) Merrill, Davenport, and Stormie Sunshine Barnes, Colona; granddaughters, Paige Stohl and Destiny Cribbs; grandson, Derek Cribbs; sister, Joan (Jerry) Kinkead, East Moline; brothers, Jack (Barb) Merrill, Carbon Cliff, James (Lois) Merrill, Orion, Bill (Rita) Merrill, Cleveland, and Bob (Barb) Merrill, Colona; aunt, Gilberta Ashdown, Sarasota, Fla.; uncle, Gilbert Merrill, Waco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip; and brother, Joseph.

Ernest L. Parker, 71, of Geneseo died Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Hammond-Henry Hospital Skilled Care Unit, Geneseo.

Dorothy Cawiezell
Dorothy M. Cawiezell, 86, Davenport, died June 3, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at Runge, Davenport, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery .
She was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Harry and Alvina Thoeming. She married
Earl Cawiezell. He died March 3, 1998.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Morgan, Davenport; son, Norman Cawiezell, Davenport; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Don Cawiezell, Muscatine.
John Chaney
John Lewis Chaney, 83, of Stanton, Ky., formerly of Davenport, died June 4, 2004, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today. Burial is in Stanton cemetery .
John, a native of Stanton, is the husband of Darlene Patch Chaney. He was a veteran of World War II. He was an employee at John Deere Co., Moline, from 1950-1984.
John McCluskey
John Walter 'Jack' McCluskey, 80, Davenport, died June 3, 2004, at Genesis East, Davenport.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic, Davenport. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Jack was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Chicago, to Walter J. and Agnes C. Harmon McCluskey. He married
Mary Margaret Kratt Dec. 27, 1947, in Davenport. She died on Oct. 31, 1990.
Surviving are his daughters, Ann McCluskey, Jennifer McCluskey; sons, Patrick, Michael, David, and James McCluskey; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth McCluskey; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Betty Kratt, and Michael Kratt.
Carol Shimp
Carol S. Shimp, 62, Bettendorf, died June 3, 2004, at Genesis, West Campus, Davenport.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Weerts, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.
She was born May 20, 1942, in Grand Island, Neb., to Edna Stroh and W. Jess Reinecke. She married
Allan Shimp Jan. 21, 1967, in Davenport.
Surviving are her husband, Allan; daughter, Leah Shimp, Arlington, Va.; son, Eric Shimp, Burke, Va.; two grandchildren; sister, Nancy Frankel, Bettendorf; and her mother, Davenport.
Edward Winski
Edward S. Winski, 86, Davenport, died June 4, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center.

He was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Kewanee, to Stanley and Agnes Kniat Winski. He married
Mildred Fowler March 5, 1952, in Rock Island. She died in 1999.

Elizabeth Broyles
Elizabeth Broyles, 90, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Clinton, Iowa, and Moline, died Dec. 23, 2003.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Lemke Funeral home, South Chapel, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton. Inurnment will be in Clinton Lawn cemetery .
She was born June 7, 1913, in Moline. She married
Charles Broyles in 1951, in Davenport.
Elizabeth lived in Clinton and after the death of her husband in 1969, she moved to Moline. She had lived in Tampa for many years, with her daughter Joyce Edelberg.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth Stewart, California, Mo., and Joyce Edelberg, Tampa; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jenny Davenport, Moline. She was preceded in death by three siblings, two grandchildren, a great-great-grandson.
