Dorothy Olson
Dorothy H. Olson, 83, of Davenport, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Denzil E. Sapp
Denzil Eugene Sapp, 72, Walcott, formerly of Galesburg, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at his home after an extended illness. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Sapp will be cremated. There are no services. Arrangements are by Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

He was born June 15, 1931, in Canton, Ill., to Kenneth and Viola File Sapp. He married Barbara Peterson in 1958, in Cambridge.

He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was owner/operator of Sapp's Upholstering, Galesburg.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Barbara; daughters, Beverly (James) Kenney, Wataga, Ill., Susan (William) Stuckel, Montpelier, Iowa; grandchildren, Hilary Haynes, Galesburg, Clint Hennenfent Jr., Galesburg, Matthew Sapp, Davenport, Daniel Kenney, Wataga; and a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Haynes, Galesburg.

Harland Stamp
Harland Stamp, 74, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton. Burial is in Fulton Township cemetery with graveside military honors. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes.

He was born Oct. 14, 1929, a son of LeRoy H. and Mildred Bruse Stamp. He married Dorothy G. Kooi Jan. 1, 1953, in Fulton.

Survivors are his wife; daughters, Lynn Donnelly, Clinton, Lorene Snyder, Manchester, Iowa; seven grandsons; and a brother, Harris Stamp, Kansas City, Kan.

Johnnie Watkins
Johnnie L. Watkins, 52, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Fejervary Health Care Center, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Lorraine Haywood
Lorraine Haywood, 84, of Rock Island, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, with an Order of Eastern Star service starting at 7 p.m. According to her wishes, her body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mrs. Haywood was born Feb. 28, 1920, in New Albany, Miss., to Willie and Eldora (Nesbit) Swain. She married Jewel Haywood March 1, 1958, in Muscatine, Iowa. He preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1993.

Mrs. Haywood was employed at the Ammunition Plant, Burlington, Iowa, from 1950 to 1954. She worked for the State of Illinois for many years as a foster mother and was a licensed babysitter. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Rock Island, and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was past worthy matron of ADAH Chapter 10. She loved the news, crossword puzzles and always spoke her mind.

She is survived by her daughter (and husband), Vikki (Willis) Mays, Davenport; five grandchildren, Donterious (Abbey Johnson), Whitney, Travaris, Tori and Ariel; great-granddaughter, Gabrella Lorraine Haywood; and special friends, Rosemary Burrell and Virgil Mayberry. Lindsey Mays, Dorian Turner and Lizabeth Garcia survive as her adopted grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.

Jacqueline Nunn
Jacqueline Nunn, 55, of Rock Island, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Orr's Mortuary, Rock Island.

Among survivors is her husband, Leonard.

Alfred Day
Alfred W. Day, 89, of Moline, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

The celebration of his life will be private. Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline, is assisting the family.

Alfred was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Independence, Iowa, son of Alfred F. and Hulda J. Day. He married Esther Anderson Sept. 21, 1942, in Independence.

Alfred worked at the Rock Island Arsenal sketching and writing repair manuals for gun assemblies during World War II. He then was employed as a machinist at International Harvester, East Moline, for 30 years until his retirement in 1976.

He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Moline. His hobbies were O-gauge model railroading and oil painting and drawing. He also enjoyed studying ancient history and listening to classical music.

He is survived by two daughters, a son-in-law and two grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by Esther, his wife of 57 years, and two sisters.

He and his family greatly appreciated the kind care and friendships of staff and volunteers at Heartland Health Care Center.

Jemima Boone
Jemima P. Boone, 95, of Moline, formerly of East Moline, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Dorene Jones
Dorene C. Jones, 89, of Peoria, Ill., died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Sharon Health Care Center, Peoria.

Arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.

Roger Frederick
Roger Frederick, 67, of Morrison, died June 6, 2004, at home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran, Morrison, preceded by family prayers at 10:15 a.m. Burial is in Bethel cemetery , Milledgeville, Ill. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bosma-Renkes, Morrison.

He was born in Milledgeville. He married Shirley Ryan in 1960. She died in 2000.

Survivors are children, Mary McDermott, Clinton, Iowa, Bryan, Waukegan, Ill., Thomas, LaVerne, Okla., and Theodore, Lamar, Mo.; his mother, Milledgeville; seven grandchildren; and a brother.

Donnie Jones
Donnie Jones, 64, of New Boston, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Arrangements are pending at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo.

Maxine Mitchell
Maxine B. Mitchell, 81, of Aledo, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, where further arrangements are pending.

Jacob Flynn
Jacob David Flynn, infant son of Darrell and Lezly (Hakes) Flynn of Davenport, died at birth Friday, June 4, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Dylan; his grandparents, David Hakes, Robin Kingsley and Marjorie Flynn, all of Davenport; his great-grandparents, Frances Hakes and Robert and Shirley Cover, all of Davenport; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, including Melissa Gorham, Vancouver, Wash., Nikole Long-End, LeGrande, Ore., and Ryan Long, Davenport.

Jane Martin
Jane Martin, 68, of Davenport, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at her home.

Services are 6 p.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial of cremains will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 p.m. to services.

She was born Jan. 20, 1936, in Asbury Park, N.J. She graduated from Hartidge School, Plainfield, N.J. She married R. Kent Martin in Plainfield in 1956. He died in 1970.

Survivors are daughter, Kimberlee Paulsen, Davenport; sons, Richard, Davenport, and Peter, Long Grove, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Mary Paaske
Mary Paaske, 91, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Kay DeDobbelaere
Kay H. DeDobbelaere, 81, of Milan, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her daughter's home in Reynolds, Ill.

Services are 4 p.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Milan, with visitation 3 p.m. to services. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Kay was born May 29, 1923, in Bristol, England, to Frank and Mary Ann Garrett. She married Arthur DeDobbelaere Nov. 17, 1945, in Bristol. He preceded her in death June 1, 1969, in Rock Island.

Kay served in the Women's Land Army of England. She worked as a school grounds monitor at Denkmann School in Rock Island. She also worked at Lutheran Hospital, Moline, where she retired in 1988.

Kay enjoyed doing ceramics and her yard and flowers, but mostly being with her family and friends.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella Fuller, Reynolds, Barb and Ken Willis, Alpha, and Paula and Andy Voss, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sue DeDobbelaere, Taylor Ridge; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Ward and Christine Brock, England; brothers, Brian Garrett, England, and Ken and Ray Garrett, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and three brothers.

'A sincere thank you for all your prayers and to Sara Banick, Chaplin Connie Leader and Evelyn Lower, of VNHA, for the excellent care and compassion you showed our Mum.'

Betty Depaepe
Services for Betty Lou Depaepe, 69, of Rock Island, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan.

Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Memorial Christian Church, American Cancer Society or to the Visiting Nurse and Homemaker Association, Rock Island.

Mrs. Depaepe departed this life Friday, June 4, 2004, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

The former Betty Lou Hawkins was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Scurry, Texas, a daughter of Chock and Allene Dickerson Hawkins. She married Joseph Henry Depaepe Jan. 31, 1954, in Dallas, Texas. He died July 20, 2002.

Betty was a homemaker and caregiver to her entire family for all of her adult life. She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island, the Christian Women's Fellowship of the church and the Rock Island Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary. Her family was her life's devotion.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph M. and Debbie Depaepe, Rock Island; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tony Padavich, Rock Island, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Adrienne Novitske and her husband, Dan, Jacqlyn White and her husband, Chris, Andrew and Sarah Padavich; great-grandchild, Dallas Jo Novitske; her mother, Allene Culpepper, Hurst, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carolyn Hawkins, McKinney, Texas, A.D. and Adela Hawkins, Modesto, Calif., Larry Joe Hawkins, Hurst; sister, Paula Albright, Hurst; and several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, John Hawkins.

Lorraine Haywood
Lorraine Haywood, 84, of Rock Island, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Delores Titus
Delores 'Dee' Titus, 68, of Rock Island, died June 2, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Larson, Rock Island. Burial is in Chippiannock, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Dee was born March 29, 1936, in Rock Island, to Virgil 'Bud' and Mary Hibst Anderson. She married Richard Titus Dec. 4, 1954, in Rock Island.
