Services for Cynthia D. Harris, 21, Rock Island, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Larson's Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery , Davenport. The wake will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Larson's.
Cynthia died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
She was born on June 17, 1982, in Rock Island, the daughter of Larry and Annie Amerson Harris. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 2001, where she was a well-liked student and received a student-recognition award. She enjoyed playing powder-puff football and other sports. Most of all, she enjoyed being a big sister to her siblings.
She also spent a lot of time at the Christian Friendliness Center, Rock Island. She had planned on becoming a nurse before her sickness took the best of her.
In addition to her parents, Cynthia is survived by her brother, Larry Harris Jr., and sisters, Percella Harris, Tershera Harris and Patricia Harris, all of Rock Island; paternal grandmother, Ola Mae Farmer, Kennet, Mo.; stepgrandmother, Ethel Amerson, Rock Island; nine aunts; nine uncles; and a host of cousins, teachers, and friends.
Michael Jaimes-Salmeron
Michael Jaimes-Salmeron, 17 days, son of Enrrique Jaimes and Hermenegilda Salmeron, Moline, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Services are noon Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery , East Moline.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born Sept. 8, 2003, in Silvis.
Surviving are his parents and his brothers, George Enrrique and Elmer, both at home.
James Boggs Sr.
James L. Boggs Sr., 63, of East Moline died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Parkview Terrace, East Moline, after an extended illness.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Further arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
William Ferguson
Funeral services for William Stewart Ferguson, 90, of Silvis will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Moline Gospel Temple or Living Hope Community Church.
William was born May 18, 1913, in Vienna, Ill., to William Roscoe and Bessie Sutliff Ferguson. He married
Lucille Francis Horn on June 29, 1940.
From high school, William worked at the Rock Island Arsenal. For 10 years, William was employed at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He was called back to the Rock Island Arsenal, where he worked in the Army Weapons Command as a project manager. He worked in Human Factoring Engineering and the production of newer weapons for the Army, to the final phase of compiling the data in books. He always found his work at the Army Weapons Command exciting. He retired on Dec. 31, 1976.
William was a member of Moline Gospel Temple for 40 years and was the head usher for 35 years. He also was a substitute Sunday-school teacher at his church. Although he loved golf, his grandchildren were his priority.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Lucille; son, Dr. Tom (Ronda) Ferguson, Lake Stevens, Wash.; son-in-law, Mike Berthoud, Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren, Andrew (Megan) Ferguson, Arlington, Wash., Joshua Ferguson, Los Angeles, Calif., Amy (Yoost) DeJong, Livermore, Calif., Matthew Ferguson, Lake Stevens, Todd (Ellie) Berthoud, Westminister, Colo., Stephanie Berthoud, Loveland, and Mike Berthoud Jr., Loveland; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Meriman, Anna, Ill., and Helen Drexter, Orlando, Fla. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Berthoud, brother, Thomas, and sister, June.
Lola Cooper
Lola B. Cooper, 96, of Aledo died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo cemetery .
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary will conduct services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be left to the auxiliary or the Mercer County Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Knox County, Mo., a daughter of William and Carrie Hudnut Burk. She attended Colony schools in Missouri and married
Harold Rayburn Cooper Feb. 25, 1928, in Monticello, Mo. He died Sept. 14, 1998.
Lola was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm.
She was a member of the VFW auxiliary, the former United Presbyterian Church, Aledo, and its Unbroken Circle, and the former Burgess Presbyterian Church.
Lola enjoyed playing cards and took pleasure in cooking for her family, gardening, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Patty and Dick McPheron, Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorothy and Glen Bennett, Aledo; a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Dorothy Cooper, Aledo; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Frank, Aledo; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Burk, Dallas City, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, two brothers and one sister.

William James Gash, 86, Kewanee, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.
Private graveside services and burial will be in Wethersfield cemetery , Kewanee. Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
He was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Annawan, the son of James and Ada Storey Gash. He married
Maxine Wells June 1, 1939, in Davenport.
He graduated from Annawan High School in 1935. He had been a farmer in the Kewanee area.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and a daughter, Vickie Walling.
Elsie Mildt
Elsie Mildt, 98, Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, formerly of Davenport, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the home.

She was born Jan. 3, 1905. She married
Herbert H. Mildt March 15, 1927. He died in 1987.

Lawrence Ufkin
Lawrence R. Ufkin, 85, Rock Falls, Ill., died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Ill.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at McDonald, Rock Falls. Burial is in Odd Fellows cemetery .
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at McDonald. A memorial has been established in his memory to Prophets River View Good Samaritan Center.
He was born May 8, 1918, the son of Robert L. and Ethel M. Miner Ufkin. He married
Beulah Goss Dec. 7, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa.
He had served as a Rock Falls alderman and was a past volunteer with the Rock Falls Fire Department.
Survivors (and spouses) are his wife; son, Jim (Pat) Ufkin, rural Prophetstown; daughter, Anna (Mike) Wesner, Morton, Ill.; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Phyllis `Toy' Cruchelow
Private services for Phyllis 'Toy' Cruchelow, 78, Davenport, are Monday at Davenport Memorial Park Mausoleum, with burial to follow.

She passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.
Phyllis was born on March 30, 1925. She was united in marriage to Louis Cruchelow on May 3, 1942.
Survivors are her husband; children, Robert Cruchelow, Carol Allen, James Cruchelow and Rebecca Lammers; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Bernita Slavens, and brother, Robert Ham.
Dorothy Gartmaier

She was born Aug. 15, 1908. She married
Louis Gartmaier in Davenport on June 23, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Those left to honor her memory include nieces, Mary Glenn, Naperville, Ill., and Jan Glenn, West Des Moines, Iowa; three great-nieces, and three great-nephews.
