Frank Lysell
Frank W. Lysell, 91, of East Moline died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.
He was born Aug. 10, 1911, in Mjalby, Sweden, to Gustau and Nanny Lysell. He married
Gladys Johnson Dec. 7, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Frank worked for John Deere Harvester for 30 years
He was a member of UAW Local 79, the Moline Vikings Club, and the Moline Activity Center. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, gardening, and baking bread.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Gladys; son, Walter (Carole) Lysell, Moline; grandchildren, Regina Lysell, Lexington, Ky., and Lynette (Jerry) Kennedy, Rock Island; great-grandchild, Kyle Kennedy, Rock Island; and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and a sister.
Anne Mattila
Anne M. Mattila, 95, of Plainfield, Ill., formerly of Milan, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Lakewood Living Center, Plainfield.
Private services are at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 309 Joliet Road, Plainfield. Interment is private.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials go to Lakewood Living Center, 1112 N. Eastern Ave., Plainfield, IL 60544.
She was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Tower, Minn. She was formerly of the Chicago area and was employed by W.T. Grant there. She also lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
She was a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan.
Survivors (and spouses) are her children, John (Frances) Mattila, Naperville, Ill., Charles (Gloria) Mattila, Manteca, Calif., Dorothy (John) Orban, Huntley, Ill., and Carol (Ray) Taradejna, Plainfield; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eino.
Dorothy Clementz
Dorothy V. Clementz, 97, of Annawan died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Kewanee Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Annawan chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial is in Annawan cemetery .
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The former Dorothy V. Becker was born Jan. 24, 1906, in Loraine Township, Henry County, Ill., to Gustave and Anna Saupe Becker. She married
Charles W. Clementz Feb. 4, 1928, in rural Prophetstown. He died in March 1975.
Survivors are her sons, Donald, Manlius, and Arlyn, Mentor, Ohio; daughters, Shirley Vanantwerp, Atkinson, and Donna Vandemark, Macomb; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Eilers, Geneseo, and a twin sister, Doris Miller, Prophetstown.
Julie Morgan Hotchkiss
Julie Morgan Hotchkiss, 77, passed away at Williamsburg (Va.) Community Hospital Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, following a two-month illness.
Services are pending at Nelson's Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held at Burton Parish Episcopal Church, Williamsburg.
Julie grew up in Galva, the daughter of Meryl and Fannie Morgan. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign, and became Rock Island County youth assistant, leading 4-H and Rural Youth groups.
She married
Charles Tyler Hotchkiss Dec. 21, 1947, and went on to become a lecturer and writer.
Survivors include her husband, Ty Hotchkiss; nieces, Barbara Runyon and Beverly Haney, both of Aledo; and a cousin, Ann Sheley, Rock Island.
Orville Jansma
Orville D. Jansma, 62, Port Byron, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Hillsdale United Methodist Church. Burial is in Round Grove cemetery , Morrison.
Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes, Morrison, and 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the church.
Surviving are his wife, Denise; sons, Dennis, Newton, Iowa, Dan, Low Moor, Iowa, and Darrien, Bettendorf; three grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Jensen, Decatur, Ill.; and brothers, Philip, Gene amd Ken, all of Morrison, and Calvin, Ashland, Ore.
Bessie Kipp
Services for Bessie M. Kipp, 83, Port Byron, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Port Byron, where she was a member. The Rev. Richard Housman will officiate. Burial is in Peace Lutheran cemetery , Port Byron.

Mrs. Kipp died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
She was born April 21, 1919, in Port Byron, daughter of Orville and Ila Adams Hofstetter. She married
Raymond Kipp April 24, 1937, in Hampton.
She was procurator at the Rock Island Arsenal for 16 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of TOPS and enjoyed walking and playing cards. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and had lived in the Quad-Cities all of her life.
Survivors (and spouses) are sons, Robert J. (Deborah) Kipp, Hampton, Gerald R. (Pamela) Kipp, Hampton, and Richard L. (Eileen) Kipp, Burlington, Iowa; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Clara Ford, Indianapolis, Ind., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and three brothers.
Sophia Oudekerk
Sophia Oudekerk, 83, of Morrison died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes, Morrison. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday.
She was born June 21, 1919, in Grundy Center, Iowa, to Herman and Frieda Thorn Harringa. She married
Emil Oudekerk in 1941. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are daughters, Ruth Meyer, Morrison, and Mary Huggins, Fenton; sons, David, Harvey, Leroy, Larry and Gary, all of Morrison; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three siblings.
Clyde Walter
Clyde Walter, 85, of Geneseo was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City.
A celebration of Clyde's life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo, where he was a devoted and active member. The Geneseo VFW will accord military honors following the services at the church. Private inurnment will be Monday in North cemetery , Geneseo.
A gathering of friends will be 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Richmond Hill Barn Theater, Geneseo Historical Society, or Black Hawk Community Players, Kewanee. Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson/Geneseo, is handling arrangements.
Clyde was born on March 21, 1918, in rural Geneseo, the son of Clarence and Emma Giebel Walter. He was educated in Geneseo, where he was a 1935 graduate of Geneseo High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a combat engineer in England and Europe. As part of the Army's Special Services, he was in charge of the guesthouse for visiting USO performers at Camp Davis.
Clyde owned and operated the Walter's Men's Clothing store in downtown Geneseo for 40 years.
He helped bring about the Richmond Hill Players along with Richmond Hill Park, and the Geneseo Historical Society Building. He also directed plays for many years with the Black Hawk East Community Players in Kewanee and at Quad City Music Guild.
In 1968, Clyde initiated plans for the Johnson 1910 Farm on U.S. 6 between Geneseo and Atkinson. For 25 years he gave tours to numerous organizations and school groups.
He served on many committees for the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce, and helped with the Pathfinders group of Grace Church.
Survivors include two nephews and several great-nieces and -nephews. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
William Wyant
William Theodore Wyant, 77, of Linneus, Mo., passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville, Mo.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. today at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home, Milan, Mo., where further arrangements are pending.
Cindy Podaril
Cindy Lou Podaril, 44, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Thursday, Feb, 6, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Burial is in Columbus City cemetery . Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Cindy was born July 26, 1958, in Muscatine, Iowa, to James L. and Betty L. Yoder Podaril.
She had been a nurse at Genesis Medical Center since 1981.
She enjoyed sports-car pylon racing in her 1972 Corvette and spending time with family and friends.
Cindy is survived by her mother, Betty Podaril; brother, Jerry Podaril, and his wife, Pam, Ainsworth, Iowa; special friend, Barry Packer, Blue Grass; uncle, Bill Podaril, and his wife, Zola, Columbus Junction; and aunt, Ila Hartsock, Winfield, Iowa.

Services for Mildred Irene Daniels, 91, of Rock Island, formerly of Griggsville, Ill., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Griggsville. Burial will be in Gray cemetery , New Salem, Ill.

Mrs. Daniels died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Mildred Dickerman was born Nov. 10, 1911, in Byerton, Ill., the daughter of Tony and Flossie May Lakin Dickerman. She married
Charles Truman Daniels May 16, 1934, in Pittsfield, Ill. He died Sept. 14, 1977.
She had worked as a waitress for the Cardinal Restaurant, Pittsfield, Ill. She had worked 27 years for the former Griggsville Community School. After retirement, she volunteered for AARP serving meals.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Sharon Daniels, Rock Island; grandchildren, Karma Cook and Johnathan Daniels; and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Natalie, Kristine, Kathrine, Matthew and Mara.
Arthur Dunsmoor
Arthur 'Art' Alless Dunsmoor, 75, of 1501 N. Oracle, Tucson, Ariz., died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Veterans Hospital, Tucson, after an extended illness.
Cremation was accorded, and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at VFW Post 549, Tucson.
Mr. Dunsmoor was born June 12, 1927, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of George and Ruth Dunsmoor. He married
Imogene Peekenschneider in September 1949, in Walcott, Iowa.
Mr. Dunsmoor was reared and educated in the Oskaloosa area.
He was a Navy veteran and served in World War II. He worked at Servus Rubber for several years and at the Oaks, Milan. After moving to Arizona in 1969, he worked at the Holiday Inn and as a security guard before retiring in 1979.
Mr. Dunsmoor was a volunteer at the veterans hospital. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and above all, spending time with his family.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Imogene 'Emy;' son, David (Nadine), and daughters, Laura (Ted) Edwards, Rosemary Murphy, Karen (David) Day and Norella (Jeff) Etheridge, all of Tucson; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Iden, Chariton, Iowa, and Larry, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents.
