Vera V. Jenkins, 79, of Springville, died Monday, June 23, 2003, in Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon following a long illness. Services at 11 AM Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Rev. John Albertson and Rev. Susan Reihman will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the church after 10 AM on Friday.
Survivors include three daughters, Dixie Dahl, Roxy Savage and husband, Lyle of Cedar Rapids, and Rhonda Dunn and husband Mike of Ankeny, a sister Mildred Beck of Bellevue, Iowa, three grandchildren, Joey Meineke and husband R. J., Cory Dunn and wife Shelly, and Charlie Dunn and wife Emily, and five great-grandchildren, Ellie and Thomas Meineke, and Hannah, Madison, and Drew Dunn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne who died May 13, 2003, and a sister Marilyn Kemp.
Vera was born January 9, 1924 in Jackson County, Iowa to John and Leona Ohlmeyer Kemp. She married Wayne L. Jenkins on October 11, 1942 in Spragueville, Iowa. Vera was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion and the Paralta Embroidery Club.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis National Society, Iowa Chapter, Attn Joan Wieder, 1300 50th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa 50266, the American Cancer Society, 4080 First Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, Ia, 52402, or to Faith Lutheran Church, 155 Boyson Rd, Marion, 52302, in Vera's name

James A. Ferguson, 81, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, in the Hot Springs Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the chapel after noon on Thursday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Darlene (Hanks), a son James A. Ferguson Jr. and wife Bonita of Marshall, Arkansas, two daughters, Judi Green and husband Jim of St. Louis, Mo, and Virginia Pirino and husband John of Hillsboro, Missouri, two stepsons Michael Hanks and wife Michelle of Solon, Iowa, and Mark Hanks of Cedar Rapids, two stepdaughters, Terry Primrose and husband Dennis of Cedar Rapids, and Christine Moon and husband Michael of Belle Plaine, Iowa, one brother George L. Ferguson and wife Silvia of Lakeland, Florida, fifteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends in Australia and the USA.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Olga Ferguson, and one sister Annie Jo Lyman.
Born February 6, 1922 at Booneville, Arkansas to Calvin A. and Mary Sue (Lusby) Ferguson, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 33 years, was a member of 18th Hole Men's Golf Association, United Transportation Union, former member of Merry Mixers and the American Legion.
A memorial fund has been established.

William E. Swim

William E. Swim, 97, of Linn Manor Care Center in Marion formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at the care center on Friday, May 30, 2003 after a brief illness. Memorial services at 2 PM on Wed. at St. Pauls United Methodist Church Chapel. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Inurnment at St. Pauls United Methodist Church Columbarium. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Brousard and her husband, Bill of Cedar Rapids, Joan Weaver and her husband, Steve of Portland, Maine and a son, Bill and his wife, Margo of Iowa City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dave Brousard and his wife, Kelly, Jim Brousard, Kris Koeppen and her husband, Jim, all of Cedar Rapids, Carolyn Martel and husband, Scott, Susan Gay and husband, Brian all of Portland, Maine, Mike Swim of Iowa City, and Heather Magee of Los Angeles; five great granddaughters, Anna and Kerry Brousard, Marissa and Julia Martel and Sydney Koeppen.
Bill was born on Oct. 30, 1905 in White City, Iowa, the son of William and Margaret Saunders Swim. He was a graduate of William Penn College and Drake University. He married Margaret E, Burns on June 1, 1937 in Des Moines. She died in 2000. Bill began his teaching career in 1934 at Colo, Iowa. He entered the Cedar Rapids School System as a teacher in 1948. Bill served at Tyler and Polk Schools as principal between 1950 and 1971. He also served as an elementary school principal for the Marion District. He was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, the National and Iowa Sate Educational Associations, and was a member of the Penn College Athletic Hall of Fame. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Bill's legacy is found in his family, friends and the vast number of individuals he influenced throughout his life long teaching and coaching career.

Jack L. Draker, 74, of 735 Winterberry Place NE, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in his home surrounded by his family, following a long illness. Services at 10:30 AM Thursday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Father Donald Klein of St. Pius X Catholic Church will officiate. Entombment with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday with a Vigil service beginning at 6:30 PM.
Survivors include his wife Dolly, a son David Draker and wife Julie, three daughters Janet Widener, and Jackie Bailey and husband Mike, all of Cedar Rapids, and Jolene Kacere of Des Moines, a brother Charles Draker and wife Betty of Cedar Rapids, a sister Phyllis Kirsch and husband Bob of Charles City, Iowa, eight grandchildren, Max Hubbard and wife Janet, Brooke and Allison Kacere, Cassidy and Rylee Draker, and Austin and Michaela Bailey all of Cedar Rapids, and Abby Reid and husband Ryan of Robins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Charlene Still, Marilyn MacDonald, and Marie O'Grady, and a son in law Charles Widener.
Jack was born February 12, 1929 in Hills, Iowa to Charles and Evelyn Dietsch Draker. He married Dolly R. Rinker on July 30, 1955 in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force and was a fighter pilot during the Korean War. For 25 years he was the corporate pilot for Martin Marietta and later retired from Rockwell Security Services. He was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He loved duck hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Marshall Trophy Shooters and the Marion American Legion Post No 298.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at St. Pius X Catholic Church or to Hospice of Mercy.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No 298.

Eleanor M. Ball

Eleanor M. Ball, 85, of Woodbury, Minnesota, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 27, 2003, in the Woodbury Assisted Living Facility in Woodbury, Minnesota following a brief illness. Memorial services at 11 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Dr. Herbert Isenberg of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Inurnment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may register at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Saturday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter Barbara Sinclair and husband John of Colchester, Vermont, her son Robert Ball and wife JoAnn of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, her grandchildren, J. P. Sinclair and wife Kelly, Michael Sinclair, and Tony Ball, and her great-grandchildren Brianna and Garrett Sinclair. Also survived by two sister in laws, Pat and Betty Van Fossen, and a brother-in-law Robert Current. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy K. Ball, her parents, three brothers Everett, John, and Loren Van Fossen, and a sister Alma Current.
Eleanor was born August 12, 1917 in Lisbon the daughter of Archie and Elizabeth Watson Van Fossen. She graduated from Lisbon High School. She married Leroy Ball on May 4, 1941 in Lisbon. He died June 30, 1987. She was also a graduate of Kirkwood Community College and worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at St. Luke's Hospital retiring in 1982. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa, 1642 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402, or to Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son Chad Haughenbury and wife Casey stationed with the US Airforce in Fairbanks, Alaska, a daughter Amy Sanborn and husband Symon of Cedar Rapids, a sister Karen White and husband David of Cedar Rapids, a brother Richard Kleineck of Oxford Junction, Iowa, two grandchildren, Forrest Sanborn and Autumn Mary Haughenbury, and a new grandchild to be born in January of 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marilyn was born May 22, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa to Robert and Mary Peckosh Kleineck. She graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1964, and from Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids in 1965. She was a receptionist at Rockwell-Collins for 17 years retiring in 2001.
A memorial fund has been established.

Donald F. Greenwood, Sr., 75, 3818 N. Willowbend Rd NE died Sunday June 8, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial is Private. The Rev. Richard Osing will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Helen are three sons, Donald Greenwood Jr. and wife Sharon of Olathe, KS, David Greenwood and wife Michele of Bettendorf, and Daniel Greenwood of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Diana Kurtz and Husband Tom Jr. of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Robert Greenwood and wife Louise of Middletown, OH; and six grandchildren, Dan, Katie, Lindsey, Brett, Brad, and Natalie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Don was born December 30, 1927 in Lafayette, Indiana the beloved son of Walter and Marie Janes Greenwood. He married Helen L. Barrett on March 8, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. Don was a Sales Representative for Johns Manville Corp until 1963, and with Certain'teed Corp until his retirement in 1993. He attended Purdue University, was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Elmcrest Country Club, and Delta Upsilon Fraternity.
Don loved to golf and fish.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Kennedy Booster Club or to a charity of donor's choice.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn, two daughters Terry Gorman and husband David of Robins, and Connie Cooling and husband Kenneth of Solon, Iowa, a son Donald Milburn Jr. and wife Penny of El Mirage, Arizona, four brothers Curtis Milburn and wife Linda of Taylorville, Illinois, William Milburn and with Shanna of Phoenix, Arizona, Joe Robert Milburn and wife Carol of Chicago, Illinois, and Frank Milburn and wife Kim of Springfield, Illinois , 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Patrick, Rachael, Riley, Jacob, Samantha, Savannah, Jeff, and Robby, 2 step children, 7 step grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marlene and his parents Frank and Thelma Milburn.
Donald was born October 3, 1938 in Springfield, Illinois to Frank and Thelma Milburn. He graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield, in 1956. He married Marlene Howard on March 15, 1957, in Springfield, Illinois. She passed away on April 19, 1997, after 40 years of marriage. He married Carolyn King on August 9, 1997 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Donald worked in the Veterinarian Medical Industry from 1959 until his death.
Donald was the cornerstone of his family. His devotion to his wives, children, and grandchildren was unquestionable. All who knew him loved him. He was a special soul and will be missed more than words can say.
A memorial fund has been established for the National Kidney Foundation.
