Doris Ann (Carper) Grimm, 67, of Keystone, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, in University Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness. Services at 11 AM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Pastor Tim Endecott will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 10 AM on Thursday.
Survivors include five sons Jacob Carper and wife Stacy and Joseph Carper and wife Yvonne all of Keystone, Russell Carper and wife Darcy of Jefferson, Oregon, Gerald Jerome and wife Sylvia of Walker, and Tom Jerome of Lisbon, a sister Sue Asher and husband Henry of Whittier, two brothers Wayne Endecott and wife Cleta of Central City, and Keith Endecott and wife Fern of Kuna, Idaho, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an older sister.
Doris was born November 15, 1934 in Miami county, Kansas to Melville and Viola Ward Endecott. She married Don Jerome. They Divorced. She then married Warren H. Carper on October 2, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died October 31, 1979. She then married Norman Grimm in Cedar Rapids. They divorced. Doris was a security officer for Burns Security. She was a member of the National Rifle Association and the 7th Day Church of God in Cedar Rapids where she played the organ and other instruments.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the National Rifle Association in her name.

Margaret Louise Pointer

Margaret Louise Pointer, 83, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wed. May 15, 2002 at the home of her sister, in Ottumwa after a short illness. Services at 1 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Glen High will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the Chapel after Noon on Friday.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah McNeal of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Betty Warner of Ottumwa. Also survived by two grandchildren, Jamie Butler and Jodi Anson, two great grandchildren, Dakota and Tanner Anson, nieces and nephews, David DeLano and his wife, Eva, Randy and Jackie DeLano, Steve Graham and his wife, Jan, Betty Lou Palmer and her husband, Jack and many friends. She was preceded in death by a niece, Cindy Graham.
Louise was born on April 15, 1919 in Kansas City, MO. the daughter of Thomas and Marie Teeter Burnaugh. She married Eugene A. Pointer on May 1, 1950 in Moline, ILL. He died in 1971. Louise worked at Souvenir Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and a member of the Deborah Circle there. A memorial fund ahs been established in Louise's name.

Glen W. Schodde

Glen W. Schodde, 93, of Tucson, AZ. formerly of Cedar Rapids and El Paso, TX., died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, AZ. after a short illness. Graveside services will be at 1 PM on Friday May 24 at Oak Hill cemetery . There will be no visitation. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, a daughter, Karen Woods and her husband, Punch of Tucson, AZ., two sons, Stephen Schodde and his wife, Ann of Des Moines, David Schodde of Minneapolis, MN, and a step son, Jim Deets and family of Cedar Rapids. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Glen was born on April 16, 1909 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Albert and Libbie Aborn Schodde. He married Katherine Clements in Cedar Rapids, she died in 1973. He then married Mae Gibson on Aug. 12, 1973 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1999. He then married Mildred Johnson on May 20, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. Glen attended Coe College and graduated from the Illinois Institute of technology in Chicago, Ill. He was a fire safety engineer at Baumann and Gordon in Minneapolis, MN. for many years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Blue Goose Insurance Association, Delta Tau Delta and Crescent Masonic Lodge No. 25. A memorial fund has been established in Glen's name.

Lynn Renee Robertson Hull, 49, of 1410 E Ave N.E. died Wednesday May 15, 2002 in her home following a long illness. Memorial services 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel Of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . The Rev. Blair Frank from Trinity Methodist Church will officiate. Cedar Memorial is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband Ronald Hull, a brother, Keith Robertson of Des Moines, her aunt, Meda Lawson of Ft Dodge, and mother-in-law, Florence Hull of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Miriam Robertson and Father-in-law Merlin Hull.
Lynn was born April 10, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Glenn Robertson and Miriam Lindaman Robertson. She married Ronald Hull on April 23, 1994 at Trinity Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Kirkwood Community College and received a B.A. degree from Coe College. She was employed by the Gazette Communications in advertising since 1992. Renee enjoyed making quilts and giving the to people.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.

Patricia M. Matel

Patricia 'Pat' M. Matel 5829 Timber Creek Rd. NE died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at her home after a long illness. Services at 11 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Neil Manternach will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday where there will be a vigil service at 5 PM. Friends may also call at the Chapel after 10 AM on Monday.
Survivors include her husband, James, three sons, Frank and his wife, Cathy of Wausau, Wis., Paul of Iowa City, Mark of Cedar Rapids, a daughter, Jacquelyn Ellison of Washington, IA., her mother, Martha Sadowski of Milwaukee, Wis., four sisters, Betty Rusin of FL., Martha Murray of NC., Dorothy Sanders, Barbara Sadowski and a brother, Frank Sadowski all of Milwaukee, Wis. Also survived by three grandchildren, Samantha Ellison, Holly and Matthew Matel. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and James Sadowski.
Pat was born on March 15, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wis. She married James F. Matel on Oct. 11, 1958 in Plattsburg, NY. Pat was a homemaker and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer; participating in many of the lady leagues. She enjoyed her grandchildren and wintering with her husband in Texas. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Pat's name.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, April 27, 2002, in Cedar Christian Church with Rev. Gary Sneller officiating. Visitation and fellowship from 3PM to 4:30 PM Saturday in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Inurnment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter Millicent 'Mimi' Welty and husband Roger of Cedar Rapids, a sister Virginia Ferneau and husband Dick of Marshalltown, a brother-in-law Junior 'Chuck' Mulcahy of State Center, Iowa, two grandchildren, Debby Krivanek and husband David of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff Welty and wife Kathy of Monroe, North Carolina, four great-grandchildren, Stasia and Sonya Krivanek and Ryan and Brandon Welty, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Agnes Specht, husband, and a sister Charlotte Mulcahy.
Evelyn was born December 1, 1917, in Howard County Iowa to Alva and Grace Boyle Specht. She married Kenneth N. Eige on September 6, 1937 in Elkader, Iowa. He died September 1, 1979. Evelyn was an office manager for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company before retiring. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Malta Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Albia Peremsky Group of Kings Daughters, Shrine Auxiliary, and a 50 year member of Cedar Christian Church.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Christian Church.

James H. Rutten

James H. Rutten, 54, of 345 Freeseway Dr. in Robins, died Sat. May 18, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Services at 10 AM on Wed. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Rev. Neil Manternach will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, where there will be a vigil service at 7 PM. There will also be a visitation at the Church after 9 AM on Wed.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, two daughters, Michelle Rutten and her fiancée, Mike Johnson, Colleen Theisen and husband, Nicholas all of Cedar Rapids, his father, Henry, of Crary, ND., two brothers, Leo of Harvey ND., Dan of Fargo, ND., and a sister, Edith Lueke of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Jim was born on May 6, 1948 in Devils Lake, ND., the son of Henry and Dorothy Garske Rutten. He married Peggy D. Stenseth on Dec. 28, 1972 in Crary, ND. Jim was an electrical engineer at Rockwell-Collins for 24 years. He served in the Navy and retired as a chief petty officer. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Cedar Rapids Amateur Astronomers and the Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoyed camping with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jim's name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.

Marlis Dorothy Binger

Marlis Dorothy Binger, 62, of 3430 27th Ave, Marion, formerly of Rapid City, South Dakota, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in her home following a long illness. Memorial services at 1 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may register at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Friday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons Douglas K. Binger of Cedar Rapids, Richard A. Binger and wife Carmen of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and Jeffery S. Binger and fianc‚ Troylynn of Marion, her sister Shirley Joanne Dahn and husband Eugene of Rapid City, South Dakota, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend Joanne. She was preceded in death by her Parents.
Marlis was born October 15, 1939 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Eugene Edward and Martha C. Hansen Lethcoe.
Marlis was an escrow agent for Skogman Realty for several years. She was an avid book reader and a very charitable person. She loved the Black Hills and was a former member of the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church in Rapid City where she had taught Sunday school.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association, or to the Lung Association.
