Eloise Johnson Mayo Cameron
Mrs. Eloise Johnson Mayo Cameron, age 63 of Hampton, Georgia died February 20, 2008. Eloise was born
in Lovejoy to the late Ernest Milton and Reba Elizabeth Patterson Johnson. She worked for Bennett Inter-national Group for over 25 years. Eloise was a member of the Red Hat Society and walked for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She was a devoted Elvis fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cameron and a daughter, Karen Denise McEver.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Roger) Grider of Hampton; granddaughters, Haley Rene Grider and Kimberlee Danielle McEver; sisters, Shirley J. Goen of Milner, Brenda J. (Lee) Lawver of Covington; former son-in-law, Terry McEver of McDon-ough; one nephew, several nieces and cousins.
Services were held February 24 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of Eloise Cameron. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Ragsdale
Kenneth Ragsdale, age 86, of McDonough died February 20, 2008. He was born
October 19, 1921, in Hiram to the late Dr. George W. Ragsdale and Effie Howard Ragsdale.
He served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre in the 78th Combat Engineer Battalion. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 37, YAARAB Shriners, and American Legion Post 55. He retired from the Federal Government with 42 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed reading, golf, and playing gin rummy. He was a member of the Bob Chick Sunday School Class and a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, of 59 years; sons, Richard and daughter-in-law Kay, Howard, and Jeff; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held February 22 at the the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Dr. Charles Thomas and Rev. Michael Burt officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 101 Macon Street, McDonough, Georgia 30253. William (Bill) Correll
William (Bill) Correll, age 69, of McDonough, Georgia, former resident of Staten Island, New York, died February 22, 2008. He was born
in Brooklyn, New York to the late Benjamin and Margaret McCoy Correll. Mr. Correll was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and Academy. He was a master carpenter and had been involved with carpentry and construction since the age of 14. He served with the 86th Batallion and worked with the Army Corps of Engineers. He helped to rebuild Governors Island and the bulkhead to protect the harbor.
Mr. Correll is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Correll of McDonough; children, Eddie and Donna Correll of McDonough, Patricia and Shawn Dunphy of East Brunswick, New Jersey; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Shawn Patrick, Billy, Jesse, Katelynn and Krista; siblings, Eileen Barry and Mary Snodgrass. both of Morganville, New Jersey, and Benjamin Correll of McDonough.
Services were held on February 26 at Peoples Baptist Church and Academy with Dr. David McCoy officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Russell Lee Bridges
Mr. Russell Lee Bridges, age 96 of McDonough, Georgia died February 23, 2008. He was born
in Cobb County to the late Leroy and Louise Ralf Bridges. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and retired from the United States Postal Service. After retiring, he became a farmer. He was a member of the McDonough First Baptist Church, the VFW, and was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth Bridges of McDonough; children, Kitty (Bob) Johnson of Gainesville, Carol Bridges of Attleboro, Massachusetts; Tom (Pat) Bridges of Meridian, Mississi-ppi, Kay (John) Leighty of Stockbridge, Steve and Anne Bridges of Florence, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, Ralph Bridges of Valdosta, Georgia; one niece and one nephew.
Services were held February 25 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Dr. Truett Gannon officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Mr. Bridges. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Rory Pardee O'Rork
Rory Pardee O'Rork, age 40, of McDonough, Georgia died Monday, February 11, 2008. He was born
in Sandusky, Ohio to the late James Pardee and Lalla Virginia Payne O'Rork. Mr. O’Rork was a member of Oak Park Church in Jonesboro. He was delivered from a life of drugs and alcohol and then became a certified instructor for “Alcohol, Chemical Treatment series.” He previously attended Calvary Apostolic Church in Elyria, Ohio. He was a Navy Veteran, 3rd Class Petty Officer, and was an aviation ordinance technician. He was active for three years, in the reserve for three years, and a Desert Storm Veteran. He was in the Minor Baseball League in Huron, Ohio. He previously worked for Tuffy Auto Center in Elyria, Ohio. He was an automotive technician for Chrysler Landmark Dodge in Morrow and enjoyed racing and restoring muscle cars, especially his 1969 Chevelle (SS) Supersport. He also enjoyed bowling, camping, woodworking, and swimming.
Mr. O'Rork is survived by his wife, Aimee Jo (Bubb) O'Rork; daughter, Christiana Renee O'Rork, both of McDonough; brothers, Harold (Bo) Horne of Denver, Colorado, Dennis O’Rork of Sandusky, Ohio; sisters, Carolyn Sue Russell and Debbie Collinsworth, both of Huron, Ohio, Patty Weaver of Sandusky, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James O’Rork of Sandusky, Ohio.
Services were held Friday, February 15 at Oak Park Church with Pastor David Scott, Rev. David Watt, Rev. Alan Westmoreland, and Rev. Tim Jensen officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Arthur W. Vickrey
Mr. Arthur W. Vickrey, age 60, of McDonough, Georgia passed away February 13, 2008. Mr. Vickrey was born
in Pensacola, Florida, the son of the late Ebbie Lee Jordan and Arthur W. Vickrey, Sr. Mr. Vickrey was a dedicated teacher with the Clayton County School System. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family, friends and teaching.
Survivors are his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Vickrey of McDonough; son and girlfriend, Billy Vickrey and Tania Oxenburg of McDonough; grandson, Alex Vickrey of Fayetteville.
Services for Mr. Vickrey were held February 17 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Dan McKay officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Yvonne Moore
Yvonne Moore, age 59, of Hampton, Georgia died Thursday, February 14, 2008. She was born
at Edward Air Force Base, California to the late Arbith Darzell Erquitt and Clara Louise Duncan.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Larry Moore of Hampton; daughters, Phyllis (Darrell) Johnson of McDonough; Mechelle (Ken) Thom-ason of Fayetteville; grandchildren; David and Elizabeth Johnson, Will and Hannah Thomason; brothers, Dewayne Erquitt of LaGrange, Bob Steers of Sharpsburg, Gerald Steers of Stockbridge; sisters, Bonnie Bledsoe of Jackson and Caren New of Hampton.
Services were held February 16 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Mike Burge and Pastor Sam LaLaian officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park.
