Marcus R. DeLoach, 70

Marcus R. DeLoach, 70, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Long County native had lived in Long County and Glennville all of his life. He owned Sandhill Garage and Wrecker Service and was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Vera DeLoach, and a brother, Wendell DeLoach.
He is survived by his wife Iris P. DeLoach of Glennville; children, Marcus (Red) DeLoach Jr. (Tammy), Allen DeLoach (Leanne), Kenneth DeLoach, Debbie Kicklighter (Ricky), Darlene Anderson (Chris), Tammy DeLoach, all of Glennville and Randall DeLoach (Lisa) of Milledgeville; brothers, Ralph DeLoach (Harriet) of Glennville and Franklin DeLoach (Catherine) of Tucker; sister, Pauline Walker (Clayton) of Glennville; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 14 at Little Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie DeLoach, James I. (Duck) DeLoach, Arnold Swindell, Harry Middleton, Ronald Todd and Thomas Rowe.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Leona Dyches Dixon, 75

Mrs. Leona Dyches Dixon, 75, of Claxton died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Bulloch County native had lived most of her life in Evans County and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Bobby Dixon.
She is survived by three daughters, Gail Richardson of Claxton, Sara Geiger and Janice Banks both of Macon; two brothers, Eddie Dyches and Robert Dyches of Swainsboro; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were conducted Thursday at Green Fork cemetery near Millen with Pastor James Spence officiating.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter was in charge of the arrangements.

Thurman Paul “T.P.” Jarriel, 79

Thurman Paul “T.P.” Jarriel, 79, passed away late Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Toombs County native had lived in Tattnall County most of his life. He was a Merchant Marine and also a US Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a retired Electrolux Sales Person and also retired as a Captain from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Mr. Jarriel was a past master of Rising Sun Lodge #32, a member of the Joe’s Kountry Kettle Liars Table and the Reidsville Grand Rascals. He was preceded in death by his sister, Johnnie Will Todd and his parents, George Jarriel and Laura Ozean Lanier.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joann Kea Jarriel of Collins; a daughter and son - in - law, Sharon and Jeff Blocker of Daytona, FL; two sons and daughters - in - law, Don and Kay Jarriel of Glennville and Glenn and Theresa Jarriel of Reidsville; a sister and brother - in - law, Sue and Dean Miller of Reidsville; a brother and his wife, Billy and Mary Ann Kea of Enterprise, AL; eight grandchildren, nine great - grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Todd, Wayne Todd, Eddie Todd, Steve Todd, Neil Thompson, and Steven Newsome. Honorary pallbearers were Georgia Department of Corrections, Joe’s Kountry Kettle Liars Table, and Reidsville Grand Rascals.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Reidsville Baptist Church with Rev, Sterling Bargeron, and Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City cemetery with Masonic and Military Rites.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vicki Mikell Kicklighter, 49

Vicki Mikell Kicklighter, 49, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007. The Chatham County native had lived in Glennville for the past 17 years. She attended public school in Savannah and loved arts and crafts. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Kicklighter.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Kicklighter of Glennville; brother and sister - in - law, Randy and Carolyn Mikell of Pooler; aunt, Elise Clifton; uncle, Donnie Peacock; nieces and nephews, Rachel, Jamie, Amber, Brandy, Tonya, Terry, Rick and Joey.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pat Bailey, Eddie Taggert, David Poppell, David Rozier, Brandon Waters and Kenny Brannen.

Eddie Paul O’Neal, 66

Eddie Paul O’Neal, 66, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Kendred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, FL. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all his life. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Stewart with 30 years of service and was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Eliza and Jeff Blanton of Jesup, Tammy and Joe Gomez of Glennville, Denise O’Neal of Hinesville, William “Hoss” and Charlotte O’Neal of Glennville and Donnie and Rachel O’Neal of Hinesville; stepchildren, Lisa Soloman, William “Bubba” Soloman, Raymond Soloman and Danny Hughes, all of Glennville; brothers and sisters - in - law, Troy and Janice O’Neal of Hinesville and Billy and Marsha O’Neal of Glennville; 22 grandchildren; 21 great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 9, 2007, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Miller and Reverend Jimmy Lord officiating. Burial followed at Pigot Branch Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Reddish, Gene Reddish, Quinton Rush, Steve Rush, Ernest Stanfield and Eddie Privett.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville was in charge of the arrangements.

John “Winton” Driggers, 86

John “Winton” Driggers, 86, went home to be with his heavenly father and beloved wife on October 29, 2007. He was born in Liberty County and lived most of his life in Savannah, where he retired from Savannah Electric and Power Company after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Third Armored Division and participating in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a charter member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, having served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Chairman of the Deacon board.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Kicklighter Driggers.
He is survived by a son and daughter - in - law, Don and Linda Driggers of Savannah; daughter and son - in - law, Jan and Royce Joiner of Savannah; sister, Mrs. Marlin Unger of Savannah; foster sisters, Mrs. A.L. Anthony of Savannah and Mrs. Earl McCoy of Martinez; foster brother, Ennis Purcell of Savannah; two grandsons, two granddaughters, three great - grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Burke officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Damon Driggers, Eddie Driggers, Aaron Joiner, Henry Strickland, Wayne Anthony and Royce Joiner.
Remembrances may be sent to First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 15935, Savannah, GA 31416.

Cora Lee Battle Grant, 71

Cora Lee Battle Grant entered into eternal rest October 31, 2007, in Reidsville, GA. She was born in Montgomery County, GA, on February 13, 1936.
She is survived by ten daughters: Bernstine McLemore of Fayetteville, GA, Jeannie Brown of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sarah McLemore of Johnson Corner, GA, Alice Battle, Barbara Battle, Minnie Pearl Guest, Toratia Battle and Chanta Battle, all of Reidsville, GA, Ericka McLemore Wright of Norcross, GA, and Constance Battle of Hawaii; two sons, Cardell Battle and Jonathan Johnson, both of Reidsville, GA; two sisters, Lois Kelly and Dora Lee McLemore, both of Vidalia, GA; godson, darien K. Kelly; dear friend, Delia Harden; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Oakey Grove United Methodist Church in Johnson Corner, GA, with Rev. Cleo Connaway and Rev. Artis Carswell presiding. Burial was in Oakey Grove Cemetery.
Vidalia Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

J. C. Green, 81

Mr. J. C. Green, 81, passed away Thursday morning, November 1, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Collins all of his life. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army. He was retired from Georgia Pacific and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Mr. Green enjoyed spending time on his farm and tending to his ponds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Lillie Mae Morgan Green, a grandson, Justin Sikes; great - grandchildren, Jim Jarrell Jr. and Daisy Jarrell.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Green of Collins; two daughters and son - in - law, Linda Jarrell of Collins and Lanora and Dean Cranford of Reidsville; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Jean and Fred Meeks of Cobbtown, and Josephine and Henry Walling of Granitville, SC; four brothers and sisters - in - law, Talmadge and Margaret Green of Cobbtown, Rev. Benny and Jean Green, Wade and Ann Green, and Eddie and Cheryl Green, all of Fort Mill, NC; ten grandchildren, Jennifer and Dennis Gerrald of Nevils, Jim and Charlotte Jarrell, and Michael and Spring Jarrell, all of Collins, Jay Cranford of Reidsville, Melissa and Tony Vinson of Lyons, and Michael Cranford of Glennville; six great - grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Jarrell, Michael Jarrell, Jay Cranford, Dennis Gerrald, Michael Cranford and Carroll Sapp.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 3, 2007, at the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, with Rev. Benny Green officiating, Interment followed in the Old Anderson Church Cemetery.

Jerome Jarriel, 69

Jerome Jarriel, 69, died Monday, November 5, 2007, at East Georgia Regional Hospital. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident was a farmer, truck driver and for the past seven years a poultry farmer. Jerome was a Navy veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Jarriel and a grandson, Joey Jarriel.
He is survived by his former wife, Meletta Ansley Boyette of Collins; two sons, Gregory Paul Jarriel (Carla) of Collins and William Jarriel (Cindy) of Glennville; a brother, Jason Jarriel of Collins; a sister, Lorena Callaway of Collins; five grandchildren, Justin Paul Jarriel of Reidsville, Lea McKenzie Jarriel, Ashley Russo and Tom Merritt all of Collins and Jessie Jarriel of Missouri; and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Reverend Steve Kimbrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Jarriel, John Jarriel, Kenny Jarriel, Pete Jarriel, Jimmy Odom and Louie Jarriel.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
