Sarah Frances Kirkland Gulledge

Mrs. Sarah Frances Kirkland Gulledge, age 87, of Mc-Donough, Georgia died February 29, 2008. Mrs. Gulledge was born in Gadsden, Alabama, the daughter of the late Jessie Adams and John Kirkland. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who enjoyed her family, friends, serving in her church, sewing, being a southern cook and had a favorite hobby of collecting pigs. Mrs. Gulledge was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Anderson Gulledge and a sister, Naomi Smith.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Rodney Wise of McDonough; step sons, Jerry Gulledge of Loganville and Joe Gulledge of Decatur; two grandchildren, Vicki Bud-den of McDonough and Melvin Wise of Redford, Michigan; six great grandchildren, Tana, Amber, Jonathan, Emily, Jacob and Ethan; five great-great grandchildren, Brandon, Reb-ecca, Hunter, Lexi, and Caden; sister, Clara Tolbert of Gadsden, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Gulledge were held March 4 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Sorrow and Rev. Grady Loyless officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Russell Lee

Mr. Lloyd Russell Lee, age 78, of McDonough, Georgia died February 29, 2008. Mr. Lee was born in Fayette County, the son of the late Tom James Lee and Nellie Jane Barge Lee. He was a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family and friends, living and working on his farm with his tractors and cows. He was a member of Riverdale Presbyterian Church. Mr. Lee retired from the City of Riverdale with 18 plus years of service. He was a self employed contractor and developer. He moved and restored an apartment complex from the airport to Riverdale. He drove a trolley for the Atlanta Transit System, he and his wife originally owned and operated Riverdale Florist and passed it down to family. He served his country in the US Army from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

Survivors are his loving wife, Mary Ann Lee who he married on June 19, 1950 and was married for 57 plus years; children, Tommy Lee, Tammy and John Heathcock, Tim Lee and Toy and Ginny Lee all of McDonough; grandchildren, Anne Marie Heathcock, Chris Lee, Chad Lee and Justin Lee; sister, Ruth Mize of Riverdale; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held March 2 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.

Bobbie Gayle Benton Roby

Mrs. Bobbie Gayle Benton Roby, age 73, of McDonough, Georgia died on March 1, 2008. Mrs. Roby was born in Fayette County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Cora Dailey and Floyd Benton. Mrs. Roby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family and friends. She was a member of College Park First Baptist Church. Mrs. Roby was an avid bowler, she enjoyed Bunco and reading. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Sue Roby.

Survivors are her husband, Robert E. Roby Sr. of Locust Grove; children, Robert E. Roby, Jr. (Peggy) of Jonesboro, Michael E. Roby, Sr. (Terrie) of McDonough, Larry E. Roby (Jody) of Navarre, Florida, Steven E. Roby (Sheila) of Dallas, Georgia, Debbie S. Gregory (Seth) of McDonough; 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sisters, Kath-erine DuBoise of Fayette, Alabama and Carolyn White of North Port, Alabama; brothers, Charles Benton and Carlton Benton of Fayette, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.

Services were held March 4 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Dr. Lannie Lowe officiating. Interment Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Mil-ledgeville. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie Belle James Baxter

Mrs. Bonnie Belle James Baxter, age 84, of Stockbridge, Georgia died March 2, 2008. Mrs. Baxter was born in Clearwater, Florida, the daughter of the late Hallie Virginia Strawn and Carl Hasting James. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Statesville, North Carolina, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 214 of Statesville and she volunteered with Statesville Hospital. She enjoyed needlepoint, crafts, cooking and traveling. Mrs. Baxter was preceded in death by several siblings.

Survivors are her husband, Herman Baxter of Stockbridge; children, Tim C. Baxter (Trina) of Hampton, and Patricia King (Chris) of McDonough; grandchildren, Tiffany Baxter, Tassie Baxter and Jesse King; brother, Robert James of Alachua, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Baxter were held March 5 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Dorriety officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Mae Blandford

Shirley Mae Blandford, 71, beloved wife, mother and “Grandma” died February 11, 2008. She was predeceased by a son, Craig Blandford.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Bruce K. Blandford of Morrow; her children; Alan Blandford, and his wife Anita of Morrow, Jan Blandford of Locust Grove, Joy Blandford and fiancé, Steven Palmer of Hinesburg, Vermont; grandchildren; Eric Blandford and Madison Blandford, both of Locust Grove, and her grand-dog Emma, of Hinesburg, Vermont.

Services were held in the Chapel at Community Bible Church on February 16. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: www.LungCancerResearchFoundation.org/donate. Cremation Society of the South in charge of arrangements.

John Charles McMurry

Mr. John Charles “Mac” McMurry, age 77 of McDonough, Georgia died February 18, 2008. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Edward Wilder and Janie Maynor McMurry. He served his country in the United States Navy and was retired from Gulf Oil Company. He was a member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church. Mac was an artist who travelled throughout the U.S. and won several awards for his work. He was a collector who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Lee McMurry of McDonough; children, Mike (Shelley) McMurry of McDonough, Marte (Harvey) McMurry of Sebastian, Florida; grandchildren, Zack (Brandy) McMurry, Lindsey McMurry, Nathaniel Wasserman, and Naga Devi Wasserman; one great grandson, Ozburn McMurry; sister, Pat Ward of Bakersville, California; brother, Bill (Marnie) McMurry of Atlanta; several nephews.

Services were held February 20 at the McDonough First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dana Everhart officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the McDonough First United Methodist Church, 151 Macon Street, McDonough, Georgia 30253 or Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, Georgia 30253 in memory of Mr. McMurry. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Jacquelynn Inez Ireland

Jacquelynn Inez Ireland, age 71, of Conyers, Georgia died February 19, 2008. She was born in Fulton County, to the late Robert and Inez Harrison. She retired from JC Penney after 30 years of service. She enjoyed crafts and knitting hats for mission trips. She had knitted more than 5,600 hats in all. Mrs. Ireland was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ireland.

She is survived by her sister, Carolynn Allen of McDonough and niece, Julie Mayes of Conyers.

Services were held February 22 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Allen Mayes officiating. Interment College Park Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
