CLARK - James Thomas Clark, 80, of Morgan City, La. died on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000.
Clark was a resident of Kingsland and had retired from Union Carbide in 1987. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II in the Pacific region.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruby Cooner Clark of Morgan City, La.; one son, James Gerald Clark (Jimmy and Lora) of Kingsland; one daughter, Barbara Clark of Patterson, La.; three grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 2 at Ibert's Chapel in Patterson, La.

SMITH - Trudie Tyre Smith, 95, died on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000 in Baptist Village, following a long illness.
Smith was a native of Appling County. She and her husband had lived in Holly Hill, Fla. a number of years before moving to Pierce County in the mid - 1980s.
Smith was a homemaker. She was said to be a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waycross. She and her late husband, Pastor O.C. Smith, had served a number of churches in south Georgia before their retirement several years ago.
Smith was a daughter of the late Hansel and Sarah Jane Griffis Tyre. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor O.C. Smith; two sons, Colvin Smith and Rudolph Smith; two daughters, Eugenia Bethea and Audrey Shedd; and several other relatives.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Exum of Blackshear; 16 grandchildren; 25 great - grandchildren; 11 great - great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from the Lake Chapel Progressive Primitive Baptist Church near Patterson, with Pastor Den Weniger officiating. Interment will be in the Lake Chapel Cemetery.
Smith will remain at the funeral home and will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Pearson - Treadwell Funeral Home of Blackshear is in charge of arrangements.

GREEN - Ulysses Green Sr., 69, of Fernandina Beach, Fla. died on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Green was born on May 22, 1931 in White Oak to the late Milton and Carrie Randolph Green. He attended the public schools of Camden County.
At an early age, Green joined Clinch Chapel United Methodist Church in the Tarboro community of White Oak. He later moved to Fernandina Beach and became a member of Macedonia AME Church in Fernandina Beach.
He retired from Rayonier Pulp Mill in 1993 after 41 years. He was a part - time policeman for the County of Nassau for over seven years.
Survivors include his sons, Ulysses "Joe Black" Green Jr. of Fernandina Beach, Milton (Barbara) Green of Islamabad, Pakistan and Dulie Green of St. Marys; two daughters, Elizabeth Green of Atlanta and Shikima Green of Fernandina Beach; one brother, Pastor J.C. Green of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Aldora (Willie) Miller of Fernandina Beach, Marie (Jerome) Hawkins of Jacksonville, Lessie (James) Harrison of Chester, Pa. and Ruth (J.W.) Hamilton of White Oak; one step - sister, Rosa L. Willis of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a nephew, Edmond (Skipper) Green of Jacksonville; two nieces, Charlene Green and Cheryl Green of Jacksonville; and two sisters - in - law, Elsie Green of Fernandina Beach and Doris Green of White Oak.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Clinch Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 165 Owens Ferry Rd. in White Oak, officiated by Pastor James D. Smith. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery in White Oak.
Active pallbearers were Calvin Small, William Small, Amos Gibbs, Hampy Ancrum, Simon Walker and Robert Walker.
Myers Funeral Home of Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.

LAUDERBAUGH - Tammy Sutherland Lauderbaugh, 26, of St. Marys died on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000 at her residence.
Lauderbaugh was a native of Charleston, S.C. She had resided in Camden County for the past 12 years, and had been employed with the Guest House Inn.
She was a member of the Coastal Baptist Church in St. Marys.
Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Lauderbaugh of Groton, Conn.; father, Mike Sutherland of St. Marys; mother, Jo Ann Sutherland of St. Marys; paternal grandmothers, Lois V. Smith of Avon Park, Fla. and Mary G. Bedgood of Swainsboro; two sons, Andrew Tyler of Starke, Fla. and Kevin Lauderbaugh of Groton, Conn.; four daughters, Kayla S. Huff of Illinois, Fallan Tyler of Starke, Fla. and Stephanie and Serenity Lauderbaugh, both of Groton, Conn.; one sister, Janet Floyd of Williamsburg, Va.; and one brother, Kenneth Hiers of St. Marys.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys from noon until service time at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Pastors Sam Crosby and Edward Dixon will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Howard Sr., Sonny Trapnell, Tony Thomas, John Fields, Todd McClure, Michael Dominiak, Tom Brown, Dale Melton and Kelly Brewer.
Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

PRUDOT - Lt. John Thomas Prudot, 58, of Fernandina Beach, Fla. died on Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, while on a visit to his daughter's home in South Carolina.
Prudot was a native of St. Louis, Mo. He was the son of the late Thomas and Nellie Russo Prudot.
Prudot served his country in the United States Navy for 22 years, including service during the Vietnam War, retiring in 1982. While in the navy, he was a scuba and underwater training instructor, and trained to be a Navy Seal.
After his military service, he was employed as a technical writer for Northrup - Grumman Aviation for 16 years.
Prudot had resided in Nassau County since 1992, after relocating from Merritt Island, Fla. He attended the Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Mazza Prudot of Fernandina Beach; five daughters, Sonya Marie (Steven) Rose of Gales Ferry, Conn., Pamela Nicole Dyke of Merritt Island, Fla., Christine Mae Barkley of Orlando, Fla., Gina Mazza (Dr. William) Sawyer of Saluda, S.C. and Lisa Marie Mazza of St. Marys; two sons, John Russo Prudot of Orlando, Fla. and Gregory Clay (Kelli) Mazza of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; two sisters, Jeanette Prudot of New Port Richey, Fla. and Judy Wood of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, James (Maureen) Prudot of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bruce Jones officiating. Interment followed in Bosque Bello cemetery with full military honors by the United States Navy.
Pallbearers were John Prudot, Sgt. First Class Joe Quesnell, John Quesnell, James Prudot, Dennis Prudot, Senior Chief Michael Thomas, Senior Chief Keith Post and Carlton Walden.
The family received friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oxley - Heard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Navy Relief Society or the Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 601 Centre St., Fernandina Beach, Fla. 32034.

LAWRENCE - Melvin "Coony" Lawrence Jr., 63, of Kingsland died on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at Camden Medical Center in St. Marys, after a brief illness.
Lawrence was born on Oct. 8, 1937 in Camden County to Melvin Lawrence Sr. and Juanita Riddle Lawrence.
He attended the local schools of Camden County. Lawrence was retired as an employee of the City of Kingsland.
Survivors include a special friend, Theodoshia Glover of Kingsland; two daughters, Verlene King and Arlene Brewer, both of Kingsland; one son, Mack E. (Sheila) Lawrence of Kingsland; six grandchildren, Shakia Lawrence and Sharmeel Woods, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Fredrick Myers Jr. of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Micesha Woods, LaTonya Brewer and Roderick Brewer Jr., all of Kingsland; one great - grandson, Dominique Hargrave Jr.; one sister, Pearlena (Solomon) Sinkfield; four aunts, Lucille Whitaker, Ethel M. Fields, Lois Roberts and Lizzie Taylor, all of Kingsland; one niece, Rekina (Kenneth) Mason of Newport News, Va.; one nephew, Keith (Forbetta) Hardney of Kingsland; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. at Carnegie United Methodist Church in the Kinlaw community of Woodbine, with Pastor Henry Joyner Jr. officiating.
Interment was at Evergreen cemetery on Old Still Road in the Kinlaw community of Woodbine.
Active pallbearers were family friends.
Myers Funeral Home of Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.

THOMPSON - William Douglas Thompson, 52, of St. Marys died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at his residence.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he had resided in St. Marys for the past 12 years. He was retired from the United States Navy with 20 years of service and was employed by J.A. Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Thompson; two daughters, Michelle Thompson of Statesboro and Jayme Thompson of St. Marys; his mother, Carol Johns Thompson of Lake City, Fla.; two brothers, James Thompson of Victorsville, Calif., and Edward Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Carole McWhorter of Loganville; and several nieces and nephews.
Allison Memorial Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 in the chapel at Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay with Chaplain Rory Hermann officiating.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Southeast Georgia, 333 S. Ashley St, Kingsland, Ga., 31548.

MAXWELL - Dawn Compton Maxwell, 42, of Woodbine died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at her residence.
She was born on June 26, 1958 in Fitzgerald to Joseph H. and Audis Danley Compton. Maxwell lived in Woodbine for the past six years.
Maxwell graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1976. She later received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Georgia Southwestern in Americus and her media specialist degree from the University of Georgia in Athens. She taught in Fitzgerald and Augusta and was former librarian at Camden Middle School.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
Maxwell is survived by her husband, David K. Maxwell of Woodbine; two daughters, Amanda Dawn Maxwell and Hannah Joy Maxwell, both of Woodbine; her parents, Joe and Audis Compton of Fitzgerald; two sisters, Cyndy C. Wade of Kingston, Tenn., and Beth C. Jerkins of Americus; father - and mother - in - law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Maxwell of Summerville, S.C.; four nieces and four nephews.
A visitation was held on the evening of Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at Paulk Funeral Home, with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery in Fitzgerald.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Noah's Ark Preschool Program at the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1805, Kingsland, Ga., 31558.

PRICE - Michelle Noel Price, 31, of Kingsland, died Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., she had been a resident of Camden County for the past six years. She had been employed with Kmart stores and was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Marys.
Survivors include her husband, Joel Price of Kingsland; two sons, Joel Price II and Christopher Price, both of Kingsland; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Noel, her brother, Stephen Noel, and her sister, Sharon Marie Criss, all of Oneonta, Ala.
Allison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Graveside services will be held at the South Blountsville cemetery in Blountsville, Ala.

Alex Chaney, former chief deputy for the Camden County Sheriff's Office and a 50 - year veteran of local law enforcement, died Saturday, April 7 at the age of 95.
He was a resident of St. Marys Convalescent Center at the time of his death.
Born in 1905 in White Oak, Chaney served under three different sheriffs and also worked for the Kingsland and Woodbine police departments. He officially retired from the Camden County Sheriff's Office in December 1972 after working there for 21 years.
Chaney, whose father was once sheriff of Camden County, served as chief deputy under Willie Smith, father of incumbent Sheriff Bill Smith.
Chaney will be remembered as a fair and hard - working law enforcement officer.
"Alex Chaney has an unparalleled record of service to the people of Camden County, " said Sheriff Bill Smith. "He served in the days when officers had to be a lot more independent and resourceful, but he was able to handle it all from bootleggers to stolen cars and everything in between."
A visitation was held Monday at Shepherd Funeral Home in Folkston. Burial was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Colesburg - Tompkins cemetery in Colesburg.
