Alice B. Dadley

Alice Balding Dadley, 87, died Oct. 5 at Candler Hospital.

The Danville, N.Y., native lived in Melbourne, Fla., for 16 years before moving to Savannah more than three years ago. She was a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross in Melbourne, a homemaker and the widow of Albert Eugene Dadley.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia D. and Stephen J. Wilk of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert Edward and Kathryn Dadley of Annandale, Va.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ancil E. Davis Jr.

BLACKSHEAR -- Ancil E. "Buddy" Davis Jr., 68, died Oct. 3 at his home in Ennis, Mont., of an apparent heart attack.

He was born in Pierce County and maintained a home in Blackshear and in Ennis for many years. He was a 1950 graduate of Blackshear High School and an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict.

He was a retired farmer and enjoyed many years association with Lakeview and Okefenokee golf clubs and Still Lake Fishing Club. He was known as a public relations ambassador for Montana and was a singer and made several records. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blackshear.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Molly Oden Davis of Blackshear; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Gail and Ted Kendrick of Brunswick and Liz and Will Jacques of Waycross; a sister, Aloha Young of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Davis and Ruby Kendrick and Louise and Ancil Jacques; and other relatives.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. today at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home, Blackshear.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. today at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home.

REMEMBRANCES: First United Methodist Church of Blackshear Building Fund; or Madison Valley Hospital, Ennis, MT 59729.

Victoria M. Felt

Victoria Morningstar Felt, 85, died Oct. 3 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

She was born in Savannah, attended Chatham County public schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of Second Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and served on the deaconess board and in the choir. She was an original member of the Crusaders and Wiley Family Circle.

SURVIVORS: three sisters, Theodesia Scott of San Diego, Evelyn Wright and Louise Hall, both of Savannah; two grandchildren, Vicki Tubbs of Savannah and Bruce Thurmond of Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary M. Johns

HINESVILLE -- Mary Mildred Johns, 76, died Oct. 3 at Midway Health Care Center.

She was born in Grant County, Okla., and moved to Liberty County in 1993 from Blackwell, Okla. She was a 1940 graduate of Deer Creek High School and retired from Graves Pharmacy after more than 25 years. She was a homemaker and the widow of U. Wayne Johns. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Jerry W. Johns of Ponca City, Okla., and Tommy H. Johns of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Johnette Martin of Wichita, Kans., and Luncinda Rooker of Loveland, Colo.; a brother, John Benningfield of Wagoner, Okla.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Roberts and Sons Funeral Home in Blackwell.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Friday in Blackwell cemetery in Oklahoma.

Ernest D. McKissick

Ernest Donald McKissick, 67, died Oct. 5 at Candler Hospital.

He was a native of Florence, S.C., and a longtime resident of Savannah. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church and a retired air traffic controller.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Edyth McKissick of Savannah; two sons, Bryan and Todd McKissick, both of Atlanta; a daughter, Donna Brantley of Ellabell; his mother, Rosalee McKissick of Florence; two brothers, James and David McKissick, both of Florence; a sister, Joyce McKissick of Florence; and four grandchildren.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 3 p.m. Thursday at St. George's Episcopal Church.

William C. Meredith

ST. SIMONS ISLAND -- William Christian Meredith, infant son of Sarah Elizabeth Butler and Christopher Ridgeway Meredith, died Oct. 4 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.

OTHER SURVIVORS: his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Judy Butler of St. Simons Island; his paternal grandparents, Aubert Lewis Meredith and Carolyn Meredith Morgan, both of St. Simons Island; and his maternal great-grandparents, J.B. and Betty Butler of Shawnee, Okla.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10 a.m. Thursday in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.

Dimitri P. Nicholas

Dimitri Paul Nicholas, 85, formerly of Savannah, died Sept. 29 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Montreal native was a graduate of New York University Washington Square College and NYU Law School. From 1940-1942, he was manager of Diehl Motor, Division of Singer Sewing Machines in New Jersey. From 1942-1945, he was with Superior Underwear Co. in Piqua, Ohio. From 1958-1964, he was an attorney with Gaier, Nicholas and Pratt in Piqua, and from 1964-199 was owner of Orr Felt Co. in Piqua. He also previously owned American Eagle Airlines in Virginia and was a major shareholder in Colonial Marine Industries in Savannah.

He founded the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development and the Developmental Disabilities School, both in Piqua. He was a member of the bar associations of Miami County, Ohio, and of the state of Ohio and of the American Bar Association.

He also was a member of the United Fund, Boy Scouts of America, Historic Savannah Foundation, Savannah Ballet Guild, Savannah Science Museum, Telfair Academy of Arts & Science, Ohio Education Foundation, Ohio Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Piqua Country Club, and the Paper Technology Foundation of Western Michigan University. He was a life member of the BPOE in Piqua and a trustee for Edison State Community College, Piqua, from 1973-1979, Miami Citizens National Bank, Piqua, from 1981-1986, and Miami County YMCA from 1982-1988.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Donna Hayhurst; a son, Dimitri M. Nicholas of Piqua; four daughters, Colombe Rosenburg and Greta Nicholas, both of New York, Nicole Greenwald of California and Camille Kassatly of Florida; and six grandchildren.

A private family service will be held Oct. 9 in Beechwood cemetery in Lockington, Ohio.

VIDALIA -- Lillian Dowd Odom, 76, died Oct. 4 at home.

The lifelong resident of Toombs County was a homemaker and a member of Rock Springs Holiness Baptist Church in Uvalda.

SURVIVORS: four sisters, Dorothy Copeland and Opal Harden of Uvalda, Louise Craft of Lyons and Lyvonne Odom of Vidalia; three brothers, Joe Willard Dowd of Hinesville and Eugene and Henry Dowd of Uvalda; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 3 p.m. today at Rock Springs Holiness Baptist Church, burial in South Thompson Baptist Cemetery.

Ronald E. Overstreet

HAZLEHURST -- Ronald Edward Overstreet, 65, died Oct. 4 at Meadows Memorial Hospital in Vidalia.

He was a native of Appling County and a member of Bible Baptist Church. He was employed by Amoco Fabrics of Hazlehurst as a mechanic.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Sandra Storey Overstreet of Hazlehurst; three daughters, Ann Branch and Rena' Evans, both of Baxley, and Joann Gay of Dublin; two stepsons, Dean White of Lumber City and Auston White of Hazlehurst; two sisters, Norma Jean Green and Merle Shipes, both of Baxley; a brother, Robert Lee Overstreet of Baxley; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: will begin at 4 p.m. today at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Thursday at Bible Baptist Church, burial in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.

George B. Ponsell

BRUNSWICK -- George Berrin Ponsell, 84, died Oct. 4 at Sunbridge Nursing Home.

The Riceboro native was a resident of Glynn County most of his life. He was a member of Glyndale Baptist Church and Boilermaker Local No. 26 of Savannah.

SURVIVORS: three daughters, Judy Purvis, Daisy Arnett and Ruby Webb, all of Brunswick; a son, Carl Boyd of Brunswick; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Thursday at Glyndale Baptist Church, burial in Palmetto Cemetery.

REMEMBRANCES: Glyndale Baptist Church Building Fund.
