BRUNSWICK -- Mrs. Elizabeth Norman McDevitt, 92, died May 27 at Brian Center Inn on St. Simons Island.

She was a native of Philadelphia, a resident of Glynn County for 15 years and a former resident of Chicago. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, John and Maureen McDevitt of Brunswick; a brother, Charles Francis Norman of Clarksboro, N.J.; three grandchildren, Scott, Chris and Meredith McDevitt; and nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Brunswick.

Interment was in Holy Cross cemetery in Philadelphia.

Thomas H. Moore

SWAINSBORO -- Thomas Handy Moore, 58, died June 3.

He was a native of Stillmore and a member of Greater St. James Baptist Church in Swainsboro.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Bertha Mae Moore of Swainsboro; five daughters, Christine Quarterman and Barbara A. Moore, both of Swainsboro, Bonnie Judd of Macon, Sheila Scott of Savannah and Angela Scott of Newark, N.J.; eight sons, Gregory Moore of LaGrange, Todd Moore, Johnny Dixon, Nathaniel Moore and the Rev. Stanley Moore, all of Swainsboro, Alvin Owens of Memphis, Tenn., Eugene Moore of North Carolina and Donald Owens of Augusta; and a sister, Maggie McGruder of Jacksonville, Fla..

SERVICE: 3 p.m. today at Greater St. James Baptist Church in Swainsboro, burial in Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Rollin A. Raymond Jr.

RIVER BEND, N.C. -- Rollin A. "Bud" Raymond Jr., 75, formerly of Hilton Head Plantation, died June 5 at home.

He was born in Norton, Kan. He was a graduate of the University of Colorado, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. During World War II, he served in the 417th Infantry as a private first class.

He retired after 35 years with Ralston Purina Co., where he was director of manufacturing. He was a golfer and first president of Oyster Reef Golf Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Benita H. Raymond; sons, Kirk A. Raymond of Vevey, Switzerland, and Dr. Kent H. Raymond of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Dianne R. Morrison of Iowa City, Iowa, and Debra R. Prince of Teaneck, N.J.; a sister, Betty Nordman of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church.

TOWNSEND -- J.A. "Chub" Rowe Jr., 72, died June 5 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.

The lifelong resident of McIntosh County attended the Church of God of Prophesy and was a retired employee of Altama Delta Corp. in Darien.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Amanda Branson Rowe of Townsend; a daughter, Sharon Armstrong of Townsend; a son, Jerry M. Rowe of Townsend; a sister, Myrtle Davis of Lake City, Fla.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Gordon-Harrison Funeral Home in Jesup.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of God of Prophesy in Townsend, burial in Young's Island cemetery in Townsend.

Sidney Smoot Jr.

Sidney Smoot Jr., 66, died June 5 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

He was born and educated in Demopolis, Ala., and lived in Savannah for five years. He was a retired police lieutenant and served with the Paterson (N.J) Housing Police Department for 27 years. He was a member of the United House of Prayer.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Beulah Smoot of Savannah; daughters, Wendy R. Lee of New Haven, Conn., and Wanda M. Lemons of Atlanta; a son, Sidney D. Smoot III of Los Angeles; a sister, Lizzie Mae Wilbur of Paterson; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Barbara H. Stafford

Barbara Hodges Stafford, 70, of Port Wentworth, died June 5 at Candler Hospital.

The Effingham County native was a member of Assembly of God Church and a homemaker.

SURVIVORS: four sons, Bubba Stafford of Clito and Ricky, Randall and Shawn Stafford, all of Port Wentworth; a brother, Wayne Hodges of Augusta; two sisters, Jeanette Evans of Newington and Gloria Smith of Guyton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel.

FUNERAL: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel, burial in Hillcrest Abbey West.

Lottie Barnes

WOODBURY, N.J. - Lottie Barnes, 87, died Oct. 10 at Greenbriar Convalescent Center.

A native of Yemassee, S.C., and resided there most of her life. She was the widow of Isiah Barnes. She was a homemaker and member of Pilgrim Ford Missionary Baptist Church in Yemassee and St. Mary's Chapter, No. 273, OES, in Ridgeland. For the past 20 years she resided with her granddaughter in Philadelphia.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Rosa L. Barnes of New York City and Charity Green of Philadelphia; a brother, Harold Grant of South Carolina; four grandsons, Marion Barnes of Covington, David Green of Philadelphia, Lawrence Bosket and Isiah Bosket, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Debra Barnes Johnson of New Jersey, Doris Frederick and Elaine Green, both of Philadelphia; 10 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and other relatives.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Young Funeral Home, Yemassee.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Monday at Pilgrim Ford Missionary Baptist Church, burial in Jackson Cemetery, Yemassee.

Freddie L. Barber

BAXLEY - Freddie L. Barber, 49, died Oct. 13 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Savannah.

He was a lifelong resident of Appling County and an Army veteran.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Vicky Barber of Jesup; his parents, Vernon Barber of Baxley and Christine Barber of Alma; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Nedies Barber, Leon and Gayle Barber all of Hazlehurst, and Terry Barber of Baxley; a grandchild and a nephew.

FUNERAL: 3 p.m. today at Swain Funeral Home, burial in Beckworth-Swinson Cemetery.

LYONS -- Don Ray Blaylock, 60, died Nov. 7 at home.

He was a native of Henrietta, Texas, and resided in Lyons the past three years. He was a salesman of mobile homes and a member of Lyons First Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Mabel Blaylock of Lyons; two sons, Don Ray Blaylock Jr. of Lyons and Brett Keen of Conway, Ark.; a daughter, Shannon Rae Lopez of San Antonio; two sisters, Betty Jo Brown of Pampa, Texas, and Mona Elaine Weatherly of Oklahoma; two brothers, Duane Hager of Arlington, Texas, and Delbert Simmons of Conway, Ark.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will held at a later date.

VIDALIA -- Mrs. Beatrice Kramer Dixon died Nov. 5 at Life Care Center of Orange Park, Fla.

She was born in Toombs County and was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Smith Street Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: a sister, Margaret Katherine Skelton of Keystone Heights, Fla.; three brothers, Theron L. Kramer of Ellabell, Tom Kramer of Oakdale, La., and W.H. Kramer of Jasper, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home.

SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday at Murchison Funeral Home, burial in Ferguson Cemetery.

Charlie Mae Albright

Mrs. Charlie Mae Albright, 68, died Jan. 30 at Candler Hospital.

She was born and educated in Savannah. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church in Thunderbolt.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Ruth E. Albright of Savannah; a son, Thomas Albright Jr. of Savannah; three grandchildren, Tonya Albright, Thomas J. Albright and Michael Dickens, all of Savannah; and seven great-grandchildren and other relatives.

VISITATION: 7-8 p.m. today at Bynes-Royall Funeral Home.

SERVICE: 3 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church in Thunderbolt, burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
