Donald Miller

Mr. Donald Miller, 77, of Alpharetta, passed away on September 30, after a short illness. He was born on December 18, 1924, in Sylvania. Mr. Miller served in the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah and served in the Army Air Corps. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He retired from both Southern Bell and Northern Telecom as a communications specialist. His career took him from Savannah to Waycross, to Atlanta, and to Honolulu, Hawaii. He was communications advisor for President Jimmy Carter. Mr. Miller was a member of the American Business Club in Savannah; member of the Windward Association of Retired Men in Alpharetta; president of the Mentally Retarded Association of Georgia; founding member of the Civatan Club of Sandy Springs; Junior Achievement Advisor in Sandy Springs; and a member and Deacon of Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta. Survivors: wife, Frances Donlevy Miller, formerly of Savannah; three daughters, Diane Miller Wright, Donnie T. Miller, and Chris M. Miller; five grandchildren, Susan Enkeboll of Auburn, AL, Angela Wright Clay of Atlanta, and Amanda, Tiffany, and Austin Miller; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p. m. Friday, October 4, at Roswell Funeral Home. Funeral: 10:30 a. m. Saturday, October 5, in the chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. David Bradley Hunter

David Bradley Hunter, 68, of McDonough, died Wednesday, October 2. He was the son of the late Charles and Susie Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a retired truck driver with Jones Truckline and was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in both the U. S. Army and the U. S. Navy. Survivors: his loving wife, Kitty Hunter; daughter, Patrice and David Curry of Dublin; stepsons, Thomas and Angie Wellbrook, Jr., of Forsyth and Robert and Joscelyn Wellbrook of Clayton, NC; brothers, Charles N. Hunter of McDonough, Joseph H. Hunter of Locust Grove, Harold P. Hunter of Dublin, and Jack Hunter of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Hunter and Summer Curry of Dublin. Hazlehurst - Mrs. Lois Youmans Crumpton, 73, died Wednesday at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Green and Susie Cobb Youmans. Visitation: 5:00-9:00 p. m. Susie James Stanley

Pembroke - Mrs. Susie James Stanley, 109, died October 1 at her residence. She was a native of Toombs County and had lived in Pembroke since 1955. She was a homemaker and an exceptional seamstress. She was the oldest member of the Pembroke Methodist Church and lived to see three centuries. She saw America go from the Horse-and -Buggy through the space age and saw Halleys comet twice. Survivors: two daughters, Janie Lou Rhoden of Montgomery, AL, and Frances Lane of Pembroke; two sisters, Thelma Thigpen of Reidsville and Lula Roberson of Glennville; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandson. Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p. m. Thursday. Funeral: 11:00 a. m. Friday at Morrison Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Roland Fall officiating. Burial: Northside City Cemetery. Lillie Mae B. Duncan

HAGAN -- Lillie Mae Bailey Duncan, 85, died June 6.

She was born in Bryan County and lived in Evans County the past four years. She was a former member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in the Black Creek community and a member of Coastal Baptist Temple in Jacksonville, Fla.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Maurice Duncan of Jacksonville; a son, Ralph Marion Bailey of Hagan; a stepson, Dale Duncan of Miami; two daughters, Joan Bailey Starling of Brooklet and Carolyn Elizabeth Bailey Wisniewski of Houston; a stepdaughter, Diane O'Neil of Jacksonville; five sisters, Bobbie Hodges of Rincon, Beulah Sims of Brooklet, Doris Conley of Faulkville, Virginia Miller of Denmark and Vivian Shuman of Pembroke; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at McLamb-Morrison Funeral Home, Pembroke.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Thursday at Olive Branch Baptist Church, burial in the church cemetery.

Jim R. Andrews

BRUNSWICK -- Jim Robert Andrews, 58, died Nov. 17 at his home.

He was a resident of McIntosh County and had been a resident of Glynn County for the past 31 years. He was a millwright at the Brunswick Pulp and Paper/Georgia Pacific Paper Mill for 33 years. He was a Vietnam-era U.S. Army veteran who earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and his M-14 Marksman Badge. He attended the Golden Isles Church of God.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Eloise Andrews of Brunswick; two daughters, Belinda D. Scott and Brenda G. Levesque, both of St. Augustine, Fla.; two sons, Gary A. Drawdy and Jerome T. Drawdy, both of Brunswick; two sisters, Pauline Nesmith of Darien and Corine Smith of Brunswick; a brother, Freddie Andrews of Darien; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday at Golden Isles Church of God, burial to follow in Arnett-Chapman cemetery in Brantley County.

William H. Blake

William H. Blake, 84, died Nov. 16 at his home.

He was born in Fairfax, S.C. and moved to Savannah at an early age. He received his bachelor's degree from Savannah State College and a master's degree from New York University. He served as a staff sergeant in WWII. He held a principalship in Guyton and retired as a teacher from Tompkins High School in Savannah. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, Tau Beta Sigma Chapter, and was a past president of Bricklayer's Union Local #1. He was also an elder of Butler Presbyterian Church for many years.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Janie L. Blake; two daughters, Dr. Tina Blake-Steele and Carlene Blake-Hudson; two sons-in-law, Rex Steele and Michael Hudson; a grandson, Rex Clayton Steele; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

VISITATION: 1-3 p.m. Monday at Butler Presbyterian Church.

SERVICES: 3 p.m. Monday at Butler Presbyterian Church, burial in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.

Misty Bohannon

HAZLEHURST -- Misty Bohannon, 15, died Nov. 15 in the Wolfson Children Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.

She was a native of Jeff Davis County, where she had lived her life. She was a student at Jeff Davis High School and was a member of the Jeff Davis Band. She was also a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Hazlehurst.

SURVIVORS: her parents, Jimmy and Belinda Bohannon; a sister, Michelle Bohannon; a brother, Will Bohannon, all of Hazlehurst; paternal grandparents, Howard and Margaret Bohannon of Hazlehurst; maternal grandparents Ed and Ruth Reagin of Douglas; her paternal great-grandmother, Laura Jackson of Lumber City; several aunts and uncles and cousins.

VISITATION: 2:30 p.m. today at Miles Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Southside Baptist Church, burial in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Ruth B. Cochran

ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Ruth Brunson Cochran, 67, died Nov. 16 at her daughter's home.

She was born in Allendale County and was a retired seamstress with K&M Manufacturing in Allendale. She was a member of Beech Branch Baptist Church near Luray. She had spent the last five years in Monticello, Fla. She was married to the late James L. Bowers and George Harvey Cochran.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Charles L. Smith of Monticello; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Gary Bowers, Ricky Bowers and Teresa and Andy Bowers and Annette, all of Allendale; a daughter, Patricia Williams of Allendale; a brother, Samuel Olin Brunson of Bluffton; two sisters, Georgia B. Bell of Savannah and Lois B. Lee of Bluffton; and eight grandchildren.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home, Allendale.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 2 p.m. Sunday in Beech Branch Cemetery.

Arthur J. Dempsey

ST. SIMONS ISLAND -- Arthur J. Dempsey, 69, died Nov. 16 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired attorney and member of the Knickerbocker Country Club of Terafly, N.J., the Sea Island Golf Club and the Hampton Club of St. Simons.

SURVIVORS: his wife of 39 years, Joan-Marie Dempsey of St. Simons; a daughter, Ellen M. Dempsey of St. Simons; a son, Brian J. Dempsey of Vashon, Washington; a grandson, Forest Dempsey of Vashon.

VISITATION: 2-4 p.m. Monday at the Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: to be held at a later date in New Jersey.

Dorothy B. Dewberry

Dorothy Berry Dewberry, 89, died Nov. 17 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.

She was born in Savannah. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company, having served as group chief operator. She was also a member of the Southern Bell Telephone Pioneers of America and was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Paul M. Dewberry Sr.

SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Paul M. and Susan Dewberry of Midway; a daughter, Dorothy P. Dewberry of Savannah; a sister, Mary Dietze of Savannah; three grandchildren, Kathryn Brodmann of Savannah, Betty Denise Leahy and Lisa Kegley, both of Hinesville; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.

Kenneth E. Drury

BRUNSWICK -- Kenneth E. Drury, 64, died Nov. 17 at his home.

He was born in White Oak. He was a truck driver for Schweman Trucking Company for 35 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Reba Drury of Brunswick; two daughters, Shelia Boatwright of Waverly and Patsy Douberly of Brunswick; three sons, Kenneth E. Drury Jr., William Wooten and Ralph Bell, all of Brunswick; a sister, Mary Bennett of Brunswick; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Glynn Rose Funeral Home in Brunswick.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday at the Glynn Rose Funeral Home Chapel, burial in Glynn Rose Cemetery.

Walcer E. Harper

Walcer Evans Harper, 86, of Savannah, died Nov. 17 in Tara at Thunderbolt Nursing Home.

He was born in Clio, S.C. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and retired from the sales department of Bill Kehoe Tire Company. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a United States Army veteran, having served as a sergeant major during WWII. During his tour he served as Acting Battery Commander. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, Army of Occupation Ribbon and Overseas Service Bar. He was the widower of Vernie Yarborough Harper.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, LaVern H. Riley and Betty Harper, both of Savannah; a son, Wayne E. Harper of Savannah; two brothers, Charlie Harper of Middleburg, Fla. and Covington Harper of Savannah; four grandchildren, E. Alan Riley III of Bloomingdale, Paul A. Riley of Conyers, Paige R. May of Richmond Hill and Brian E. Riley of Savannah; four great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Sipple Mortuary in Savannah.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of Sipple Mortuary, burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
