Lenora B. Patterson

Mrs. Lenora Hattie Bowers Patterson, 90, died May 9 at Savannah Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Blue Ridge and lived in Savannah since 1984. She was the widow of Arvil Lee Patterson and was a homemaker. She attended Bible Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: three sons and daughters-in-law, Hoyt and Dora Patterson of Savannah, Charles and Kathleen Patterson of Trenton, Mich., and Brite and Irene Patterson of Wyandotte, Mich.; a sister, Gaye Buchanan of Lizella; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 1 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, burial in Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Daisy Bell Alexander

HARDEEVILLE -- Ms. Daisy Bell Alexander, 58, died Aug. 14 at Hilton Head Hospital.

The Hardeeville native attended Jasper County public schools and was a graduate of Jasper High School. She moved to New York and lived there and New Jersey for 21 years. She graduated from nursing school in Harlem, N.Y., and moved back home in 1988.

She was a member of St. Philip Baptist Church and was church treasurer, a member of the Senior Choir and director of the Youth Choir. She was employed at Harlem Hospital, retiring in 1988.

SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Reginald W. and Deborah A. Alexander of Piscataway, N.J.; her mother, Isabelle Riley of Hardeeville; a sister, Carrie M. Outen of Columbia; two grandsons, Reginald L. Alexander II and Quintin P. Alexander, both of Piscataway; a host of nieces and nephews and two aunts.

William J. Anderson

STATESBORO -- William Jack Anderson, 73, died Aug. 13 at home.

He was a lifelong resident of Bulloch County and a member of Gospel Baptist Temple. He retired from Singer Sewing Machine Co. as a salesman.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Audrey M. Anderson of Statesboro; a daughter, Paulette Schneider of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Lenwell Anderson of Statesboro and Ernest B. Anderson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Jay Palmer, Ginger Steffen, Julie Palmer, Jarett Palmer, Amy Palmer, Katie Webb and Kenny Webb; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. today at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home, Claxton, burial in DeLoach's Cemetery.

George B. Aycock

BAXLEY -- George B. Aycock, 79, died Aug. 13 at Appling Nursing Home.

He was born in Appling County and returned to Appling County in 1983. He attended Baxley Church of God and retired from Tidewater Construction Co. as project manager.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Myrtle Perry Aycock of Baxley; two sons, the Rev. George E. Aycock of Bartow and Carl Jackson Aycock of Brookhaven, Miss.; two sisters, Nettie Aycock Campbell of Savannah and Clara Aycock of Baxley; two brothers, Calvin Aycock of Chincoteague, Va., and John W. Aycock of Baxley; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Swain Funeral Home, Baxley.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Baxley Church of God, burial in Holland cemetery in Surrency.

REMEMBRANCES: Central Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Aleph J. Chancey

OFFERMAN -- Mrs. Aleph Carol Jones Chancey, 67, died Aug. 13 at home.

She was born in Brantley County and lived in Offerman the past 36 years. She was a member of Offerman Baptist Church and Genesis Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and the widow of Hobson Chancey.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Helen Marie Shriver of Valdosta and Anna Chancey of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Robert Hobson Chancey and Fred Chancey, both of Offerman; five sisters, Louise Justice and Margaret Roberts, both of Hoboken, Nancy Thrift and Georgia Todd, both of Waycross, and Susie Deal of Bristol; two brothers, Perry Jones of Hoboken and Sammy Jones of Beach Grove, Tenn.; five grandchildren and other relatives.

SERVICE: 11 a.m. today at Offerman Baptist Church, burial in Offerman Cemetery.

Louis F. CornellLouis Fitz

Simons Cornell, 86, died Aug. 14 at Candler Hospital.

The native of Savannah was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and retired after 42 years as an outside superintendent with the city of Savannah. He was a member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, F&AM, York Rite and the Alee Temple, where he was a member of the Directors Staff. He was a charter and life member of the Coffee Bluff Marine Rescue Squadron.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Edna Holland Cornell of Savannah; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Cornell Gammage and Lon Gammage of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Dona Waters of Savannah; four sisters, Alice Cornell Brookshaw of Atlanta, Lucile Cornell Lott of Waycross, Dorothy Cornell Oliver of Savannah and Virginia Cornell Aldrich of Melbourne, Fla.; three stepgrandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Sipple Mortuary.

FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sipple Mortuary, burial in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Virginia R. Davis

CHARLESTON -- Virginia Rogers Davis, 80, formerly of Mullins, died Aug. 12 in Savannah.

She was born in Marion County and was the widow of John Preston Davis. She was a homemaker and a member of Cherokee Methodist Church in Charleston.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Ann Whitaker and Donald Whitaker of Savannah; four grandchildren, Lynette Messer, Eric Wahl and Kelsey Strouse, all of Savannah, and Pamela Blackburn of Charleston; three stepgrandchildren, William and Scott Whitaker, both of Savannah, and Alison Whitaker of Knoxville, Tenn.; and 15 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins, burial in Mayers Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donald A. Eddy

Donald A. Eddy, 93, died Aug. 13 at Hospice Savannah.

He was born in Willoughby, Ohio, and lived in Savannah for 64 years. He was employed in home repair and was retired. He was a member of Thunderbolt Men's Club.

SURVIVORS: two stepdaughters, Jean A. Henry of Thunderbolt and Lorraine Lozenberry of Atlanta; a stepson, Ernest Walton of Metter; two sisters, Ruth Heidelberg of Linesville, Pa., and Evelyn Meredith of Apopka, Fla.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10 a.m. Thursday in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Ida L. Greenway

TWIN CITY -- Ida Lane Greenway, 80, died Aug. 12 at Sunbridge Health Care Center in Statesboro.

She was born in Emanuel County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Swainsboro.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Ed Greenway of Twin City; a son, Royce Greenway of Augusta; a daughter, Joyce Hawkes of Olean, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Swainsboro.

MILLEN -- Martin Harris, 43, died Aug. 10 at University Hospital in Augusta.

He was born in Dade County, Fla., and lived in Millen most of his life. He was a member of Bethel AME Church and held a number of jobs, retiring while employed by Piggly Wiggly.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Hosley and M. Farrell Harris, both of Millen; a stepdaughter, Martina Herrington of Millen; his parents, Hosley B. Harris of Dublin and Ollie M. Harris of Millen; a brother, Michael Harris of Sylvania; six sisters, Rosa Robinson of Washington, D.C., Gloriden Davis of Indianapolis, Mary Robinson and Bernadine Crosby, both of Millen, Bonnie Gregory of Byron and Annie Shumake of Ewing, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

SERVICE: 3 p.m. today at Bethel AME Church, Millen, burial in New Millen Cemetery.

FLEMING -- Sean Austin Landon and Brett Adam Landon, infant twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Landon of Fleming, died Aug. 11 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

They were born in Savannah.
