William Greely Edenfield, 68

TWIN CITY--Funeral for William Greely Edenfield, 68, was held Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Bryant officiating. Burial was in Stillmore City Cemetery. He died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Edenfield was a native of Emanuel County and had lived here most of his life. He graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1953. He had retired from George J. Myers Company in Swainsboro and had served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife Elouise Edenfield of Twin City; two sons, Ralph Edenfield of Houston, Texas; and Michael G. Edenfield of Lexsy; a brother, Phillip M. Edenfield of Twin City; and Michael Edenfield of Twin City; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Benny Williams, Math Bennett, Rich Grover, Barney Marsh Jr., Kim Youmans and Anthony Jones.
Tomlinson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Cannady

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Robert L. Cannady was held Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at 12 noon at Greater St. James Baptist Church with Dr. Perry McNeal officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Sept. 13, 2003 at Claxton Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bobbie Cannady of daisy; seven daughters, Annie Ruth Hill and Diane Peters, both of Miami, Fla.; Emma Jean Byrd of Jacksonville, Fla.; Mary Ellen Denson of Belgrade, Fla.; Annie Mae Watts of Atlanta; and Betty Lee Smiley of Augusta; six sons, Robert Lewis Cannady of Statesboro; Charles Cannady of Swainsboro; Leroy Cannady of Augusta; Jack Cannady of Miamia, Fla.; Charlie Cannady of Vero Beach, Fla.; and Elder Robert Cannady of Miami, Fla.; two stepsons, James Robertson of Miamia, Fla.; and David Cross of Swainsboro; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Aaron Turner, Jason Turner, Willie Lee Way, David Turner, Den Brady, Chris Phillips and Vernon Turner.
Mosley's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Unakate Goins

WAINSBORO--Funeral for Unakate Goins was held Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at 4 p.m. at Church of Jesus Apostolic Faith with Pastor James Middleton officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Sept. 13, 2003 at Augusta University following an extended illness.
Ms. Goins was born Aug. 30, 1938 to the late Victoria Shedrick Rountree and Cardell Shedrick. She was a member of Faith Miracle Revival Church in Vidalia.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Goins of Swainsboro; a stepdaughter, Daisy Rountree of Swainsboro; a stepson, Ricky Worthen of Swainsboro; five sisters, Maggie Kelly and Pecolia Kelly, both of Swainsboro; Jewell Wadley of Atlanta; Rose Woods and Margaret Jordan, both of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews. Honorary pallbearers were William Worthen and Charlie Wiley.
Mosley's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Waldo L. Yeomans, 82

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Waldo L. Yeomans, 82, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with Rev. dr. Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Lexsy. He died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Yeomans was a native of Emanuel county and graduated from Stillmore High School in 1938. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton where he played baseball and basketball. He also played baseball while attending University of Georgia. He served in World War II with Army Air Corps. He retired with U.S. Department of Agriculture an was manager of Emanuel County ASCS office. He was a a member of Agri-Business Council, Emanuel County Farm Bureau, National Association of Retired Federal Workers and Swainsboro High School Athletic Booster Club. He had served as state president and was a national officer with the Exchange Club. He was husband of the late Evelyn Childs Yeomans and brother of the late J.C. Yeomans.
Survivors include three sons, Walt Yeomans and Dr. randy Yeomans of Swainsboro; and Ronny Yeomans of Dublin; a sister, Kathleen Griffin of Stockbridge; eight grandchildren. Eric Yeomans, Tyler Yeomans, Sammy Yeomans, Casey Yeomans and Nick Yeomans, all of Swainsboro; Kristy Yeomans of Atlanta; Dr. Michelle Brinsko of Naples, Italy; and Katie Yeomans of Boston, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor Reese Yeomans of Swainsboro; and James Brinsko of Naples, Italy.
Pallbearers will be Stanford Childs, Jerry Wiggins, Eric Yeomans, Jimmy West, Charles Harris and Donald Hooks. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Swainsboro Exchange Club and Progressive Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Nathaniel Lee, 65

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Nathaniel Lee was held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003 at 3 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses with Scott Weigl officiating. He died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 at Emanuel County Nursing Home following and extended illness.
He was born Oct. 17, 1937 in Statesboro to the late Roosevelt and Zula Mae Lee. Preceding him in death were two sons, Joe Nathan and Nathaniel Lee Jr.; and two brothers, Inman Lee and Julius Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Veolia Lee of Swainsboro; four daughters, Dorsie Turner of Swainsboro; Norma Lee, Joann Lee and Sarah Lee of Washington D.C.; a son, Randy Lee of Washington, D.C.; six sisters, Glennis Allston, Pamela Jenkins, Patricia Mobley and Linda Jones, all of Swainsboro; Antonette Lee of Statesboro; and Bernice Russell of Jacksonville, Fla.; five brothers, Roosevelt Lee Jr., or Detroit, Mich.; Felton Lee of Jersey City, N.J.; Carl Lee of Twin City; Louis Lee of California; and Van Wadley of Swainsboro; and nine grandchildren.

Milan E. "Bud" Clarkson, 86

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Retired Chief Warrant Officer Milan E. "Bud" Clarkson, 86, was held Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Father Vic Subb officiating. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery. He died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Clarkson was a native of Pacific City, Washington. He was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and was a POW-MIA. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Moose Lodge and Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Swainsboro.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Lee of Savannah; Harriett Lee Nunn and Carole Ann Arrington of Swainsboro; a son, Charles Clarkson of Swainsboro; two sisters, Lillian Coveney and Lolita Winch of Elmira, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Mary E. Durden Yarbrough, 96

ATLANTA--Graveside service for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Durden Yarbrough, 96, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Twin City cemetery with Rev. Dr. James F. Curl officiating. She died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at Haven House Hospice in Atlanta after an extended illness.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born in Graymont on June 19, 1907 to the late Fair and Carrie Dickson Durden. Her husband, H.B. Yarbrough an siblings, Ouida Durden, Ruth Boyd, Margaret Curl, J. Thomas Durden and R. Hardeman Durden preceded her in death. She held a degree in education from Georgia State College for Women and a master's degree from University of Georgia. She was an educator in the Fulton County School System for 48 years. She was a seventh grade teacher for 35 years and principal of Longino School in College Park for 13 years.
Mrs. Yarbrough possessed all the many desirable traits one expects of a classroom teacher. She was a kind and patient person who instilled in her students the highest ideals worth remembering and following. Be cause of her sincere interest and enthusiasm for her work, she endeared herself to the pupils and staff and was chosen Teacher of the Year. At her retirement the superintendent said, "To possess the ability to love and inspire children and youth as well as your educational peers is a God-given talent."
Survivors include three brothers and spouses, Gene and Jean Durden of Roswell; F. Dickson and LaNelle Durden of Twin City; Walter David and Priscilla Durden of Williamsburg, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gladys McCullough Wilcher, 92

LOUISVILLE--Funeral for Gladys McCullough Wilcher, 92, was held Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Hines Baptist Church near Midville with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial was in Hines Baptist Cemetery. She died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at Jefferson County Hospital in Louisville after an extended illness.
Mrs. Wilcher was a native of Emanuel County, a homemaker and a member of Hines Baptist Church near Midville.
Survivors include six daughters, Maxine Booker of Casey, S.C.; Bernice Brigdon of Sylvania; Betty Wells of Martinez; Anita Holland of Augusta; Christine Moore of Midville; and Patsy Haycraft of Wadley; two sons, M.L Wilcher and Ray Wilcher of Midville; 23 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Daisy Fulford Gignilliat, 85

TWIN CITY--Graveside services for Mrs. Daisy Fulford Gignilliat, 85, was held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Jim Hethcox and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. She died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at Metter Nursing Home.
Mrs. Gignilliat was born Jan. 15, 1918 to the late Burt and Daisy Tharpe Fulford. She was the wife of the late Ion O. Gignilliat and had retired from Emanuel County School System where she was a teacher and high school counselor. She was a member of Twin City Methodist Church and Georgia Retired Teacher Association.
Survivors include two sons, Mac Gignilliat of Sylvania; and James Calvin "Mickey" Gignilliat of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Ann Payne of Ringgold; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paul Fulford, Frank Fulford, Doug Fulford, Scott Gignilliat, Harry Payne and Michael Johnson.

James Allen Rountree, 57

TWIN CITY--Funeral for James Allen Rountree, 57, was held Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Grady Walden and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was in Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. She died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Rountree was born on Feb. 9, 1946 in Twin City, the son of Annie Louise Sconyers Rountree and the late George Ivy Rountree. He was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and a member of Ridgeway 104 Masonic Lodge in Garfield. He has also served in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Underwood Rountree of Twin City; his mother, Mrs. Annie Louise Rountree of Twin City; two daughters, Kelly Denise Rountree of Twin City; and Jennifer Marie Wheeler of Swainsboro; six brothers, George Robert Rountree and David Rountree of Twin City; John Emmitt Rountree, Elder Thomas Edward "Tommy" Rountree and Don Wright Rountree of Swainsboro; Roy Joe Rountree of Statesboro; two sisters, Gloria Ann Johnson and Mary Edith White of Twin City; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Joe Underwood jr., James Brown, John Robert Scott, Peppie LaFountain, Tommy Myers and Walter J. Wimberly.

Benjamin Edward Forbes, 79

KITE--Funeral for Benjamin Edward Forbes, 79, was held Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at Jacksonville Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Orange Park, Fla. He died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 at Emanuel Medical Center.
Mr. Forbes was born in Florida on Oct. 10, 1924 to the late Johnathan Edward and Nina Clark Forbes. He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include four sons, James Forbes of Jacksonville, Fla.; Wayne Forbes of McRae; David Forbes of Callahan, Fla.; and Gene Forbes of Swainsboro; three daughters, Joan Carroll of Kite; Deloris Preston of Kite; and Annette Roberson of Hillard, Fla.; two sisters, Ester Williford of Marianna, Fla.; and Ruth McCarthy of Kite; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Doris Hall Edenfield, 77

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Mrs. Doris Hall Edenfield, 77, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Dellwood Baptist Church with Rev. Williams H. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at Emanuel Medical Center.
Mrs. Edenfield was born May 7, 1926 to the late John J. and Maude McDaniel Hall. She had retired from Swainsboro Sportswear. She was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church and the wife of the late Otis Edenfield. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Edenfield.
Survivors include two sons, Don Edenfield and Cleve Edenfield, both of Swainsboro; two daughters, Shirley Henry of Adrian; and Jean Newsome of Thomson; two brothers, Buddy Hall of Dublin; and Junior Hall of Macon; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William Hall, Donald Hall, James Hall, Wayne Hall, Johnny Hall and Jamie Moxley.
