Alice Rowland Brady, 81
KITE--Funeral for Alice Rowland Brady, 81, was held Sunday, April 20, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Kelmer Durden and the Rev. Keith Ivey officiating. Burial was at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
She died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Johnson County Nursing Home.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Brady was the daughter of the late John Mack and Mollie Kersey Rowland. She was retired from Wrightsville Manufacturing Company and member of the Nazarene Faith.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Brady of Kite; one daughter, Geraldine "Geri" Brady Shirey of Perry; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dalton Bell, Roger Rowland, Randy Rowland, Harrison Rowland, Jerome Williams and Roland Williams.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Rev. Kenneth Willard Youmans, 81
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Kenneth Willard Youmans, 81, was held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Swainsboro Nursing Home.
A native of Wesley, Rev. Youmans was educated at Wesley Elementary School, Stillmore High School, Rhinehardt College, Mercer University and Southeastern Seminary. He was an Emanuel County Extension Agent before surrendering to the ministry in 1951. He was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1952 at First Baptist Church and pastored churches in Nunez, Summertown, Macon, Tifton, Warthen, Thomson and Swainsboro. In 1981 he became missionary of the east central area Baptist churches until his retirement in 1988. He was moderator of several Baptist associations and member of the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention. He was also on the Advisory Committee of 4-H Foundation and Emanuel Historical Society. He was a member of Swainsboro First Baptist Church and Progressive Sunday school class.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice P. Youmans of Swainsboro; three sons, James G. Youmans of Covington, Kenneth B. Youmans of Blue Ridge and E. Mitchell Youmans of Waynesboro; one sister, Frankie Youmans Keil of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Roscoe A. Youmans of Brunswick and George A. Youmans of Swainsboro; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews, P.O. Youmans Jr., Mike Youmans, Donnie Youmans, Ronnie Youmans, Andy Youmans, Danny Youmans, Ricky Youmans and George Youmans.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church, members of Progressive Sunday school class, 4-H Extension employees and all preachers and wives.

Dewey Larry Wilkes, 60
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Dewey Larry Wilkes, 60, was held Friday, April 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Alexander officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
He died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center.
A native of Treutlen County, Mr. Wilkes, formerly of Savannah, lived in Swainsboro the past 14 months. He was a Baptist and employed with Comcast Cable Television in Savannah.
Survivors include his mother, Cuba Douglas of Adrian; one brother, Perry Wilkes of McDonough; one stepsister, Janice Jackson of Sandersville; an aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Garland Stevens, Newborn Hutchinson, Kenneth Maddox, Steve Jones, and Roy McGhee.
Margaret Estelle Moore Brown, 85
AUGUSTA--Memorial services for Margaret Estelle Moore Brown, 85, were held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating.
She died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Jennings Healthcare Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Brown was retired from Morrison's Food Service and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Don Brown of Augusta; two brothers, Edward Moore of Oliver and Billy Moore of Savannah; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Nellie L. Dahl, 85
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Nellie L. Dahl, 85, was held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Osburn officiating. Burial was April 21, 2003 at Mountain View cemetery in Tacoma, Wash.
She died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Swainsboro Nursing Home.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Dahl was daughter of the late William Oscar and Ora Lee Johnson and wife of the late Cliff Dahl. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Ora Lee Kelly of Swainsboro, Shirley Johnston of Indiatlantic, Fla. and Dorothy Swearigen of Manhatten, Kan.; several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Carlton Eugene Sego
The Reverend Carlton Eugene ("Gene") Sego, died Sunday, April 13, 2003 in his Twin City residence after a brief illness.
The Emanuel County native, born June 27, 1929 in the Canoochee area, was the fourth of five children born to Myrtis Vera Grimes Sego and Hosea Douglas Sego. He attended many of the local schools including the prestigious "FrogPond University", but he received his real education at the "School of Kneeology" (in his office on his knees in prayer).
He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Marine Corps.
He was a retired Ordained Bishop of the Church of God having pastored for 47 years at the Twin City Church of God, one of the three churches he physically built and nurtured; the other two being the Church of God facilities in Millen and Wadley. He also served as District Youth Director for the Swainsboro, Dublin, Vidalia, and Statesboro areas during his ministry with the Church of God.
He was self-employed for 50 years as a Barber in Metter and Twin City. He served as a Volunteer Fireman in Twin City for 50 years and drove a School Bus in Emanuel County for 17 years before retiring. He was honored with the "Man of the Year" and "Outstanding Citizen for Largest Contribution to his Fellow Man" awards by the Woodmen of the World and The Masonic Lodge respectively.

His brother, Carl L. Sego (wife: Isabel Ward Sego) of Metter, GA;
His sister-in-Law, Ruby Sego of Twin City, GA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Twin City United Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. The Reverend Gregory L. Ely of the Sunnyside Church of God in Great Falls, Montana, The Reverend Franklin Sasser of The First Baptist Church of Twin City, and The Reverend Wayne MacDonald of the Twin City United Methodist Church conducted the service. Interment was at the Coleman Twin City cemetery immediately following the service.
The family received friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2003 at the funeral home of Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Swainsboro.
Pallbearers were Irvin Brinson, Phagan Watson, Lamar Archer, Clark Dixon, Alvie Faulkner, Don Rountree. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Neal, Billy Brown, George Archer, Sr., George Archer, Jr., Ronald Youngblood, Ronnie Collins.
Hugh Dorsey Reynolds Jr., 62
RINCON--Funeral for Hugh Dorsey Reynolds Jr., 62, will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rincon Cemetery.
He died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Reynolds was a 1958 graduate of Swainsboro High School. He served three years in the U.S. Army and was retired from Savannah Electric and Power Company. He was elected business manager of IBEW Local 1208 , was a mason with Roger Lacey Lodge in Savannah and founding member and officer of Lockner Creek Hunting Club. He also served on the Savannah Fire Department four years. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh D. Reynolds Sr. and son, Hugh D. Reynolds III.
Survivors include his wife, Charline Saxon Reynolds of Rincon; one daughter, Amy Roddenberry of Springfield; mother and stepfather, Tommie and Harry Cowart of Savannah; stepmother, Joanna Reynolds of Columbia, N.J.; one sister, Linda Gruber of Savannah; two brothers, Clifford Reynolds and Brantley Reynolds, both of Columbia, N.J.; and three grandchildren.

Billy Ray Fields, 51
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Billy Ray Fields, 51, was held Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. William Morris and the Rev. Morris Brantley officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Fields was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and worked with United Transport. He was a member of Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church and son of the late W.E. Fields.
Survivors include three sons, Jeremy Ray Fields, Justin Wayne Fields and Jason Fields, all of Swainsboro; his mother, Mary Ann Fields of Swainsboro; one sister, Gloria Kitchens of Swainsboro; four brothers, David Fields of Kite, Tommy Fields, Randy Fields and Toby Fields, all of Swainsboro; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Greg Newsome, Owen Bellamy, Glenn Chalker, Jeff Tapley, Ray Owens, Steve Screws, Earl Shirey and Albert Hall.

Charlie David McMiller, 78
SWAINSBORO--Memorial service for Charlie David McMiller, 78, was held Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Jones & Habersham Chapel with the Rev. James McMiller officiating.
He died Friday, April 11, 2003.
Mr. McMiller was born Oct. 17, 2003 to parents James and Jennie McMiller and at an early age attended Sand Hill Baptist Church of Wrightsville. He worked at a construction unit, Local 57, for the state penitentiary and retired in 1991 after several years.
Survivors include his wife, Annie W. McMiller of Philadelphia, Pa.; three sons, Albert McMiller of Dublin, Zebbie McMiller and Bobby McMiller, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; two daughters, Bevlon Brown of Swainsboro and Teresa Kelly of Philadelphia, Pa.; 26 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several other relatives.

Herbert Tillman, 74
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Herbert Tillman, 74, was held Saturday, May 24 at Smith Grove Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Benji Waters officiating and Rev. Robert Stevens assisting. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
He died Monday, May 19 after an extended illness.
Mr. Tillman was a native of Johnson County where he attended public schools, but he lived most of his life in Swainsboro. He was employed with Emanuel Medical Center for 51 years, worked with Reno Tapley Mortuary for many years, owned and operated a lawn service and was custodian at Swainsboro Social Security office. He was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Brooks Tillman of Swainsboro; three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Archer and Mrs. Helen Monroe of Swainsboro; and Mrs. Belinda McCray of Mirama, Fla.; two sons, Ricky Tillman and Prophet Randy Tillman of Swainsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Geneva Brooks and Mrs. Lena Lewis of Swainsboro; and Mrs. Adel Scott of Wrightsville; two brothers, Joe Louis Tillman of New Haven, Conn. and Hubert Tillman of Swainsboro; three sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
