Doyle Tyson Lanier Jr., 49

METTER--Funeral for Doyle Tyson Lanier Jr., 49, will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Doyle was a lifelong resident of Candler County and was employed with Pineland Telephone. He was a 1971 graduate of Metter High School and a Primitive Baptist. His father, Doyle Tyson Lanier preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Lanier of Metter; two sons, Michael Driggers and Allen Lanier, both of Metter; his mother, Dorothy Lanier of Twin City; five sisters, Barbara Jones and Debbie Singletary, both of Swainsboro, Becky Powell and Donna Scott, both of Twin City and Shirley Chance of Millen; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers are Johnny Goodman, Don Kitchens, Jessie Ray Collins, Joe Paul Williams, Jimmy Neal, Jimmy Lanier, James Lanier and Bruce Kitchens.
Honorary pallbeares are employees of Pineland Telephone Co.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Inc. of Metter has charge of arrangements.

Margie Burke Woodell, 67

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Margie Burke Woodell, 67, was held Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Twin City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Butch Taylor and Dr. Wayne McDonald officiated. Burial was at Twin City City Cemetery.
She died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Candler County Hospital in Metter after an extended illness.
A native of Jenkins County, Mrs. Woodell was a retired beautician and a member of the Twin City United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Woodell of Twin City; two daughters, Sonya Johnson of Twin City and Carol Sharpe of Vidalia; three sisters, Allene Bell of Twin City, Shirley Waters of Sylvania and Mary Elliott of Swainsboro; one brother, Lamar Burke of Millen; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Bell, Randy Bell, Bill Jones, Troy Waters, Derek Waters, Chris Waters and Chuck Elliott.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Lucille Lawson Smith, 94

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Lucille Lawson Smith, 94, will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church near Kite with Elder Woodrow Beasley and Brother Jerry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Johnson County and a homemaker. She was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church where she served as organist for about 75 years. She was the daughter of the late A.W. and Rosa Screws Lawson, wife of the late Arthur Thompson and William Jerdie Smith and mother of the late Wadie Watson. She was sister of the late Nona Bell Lamb, Carl Lawson and Alton Lawson.
Survivors include one daughter, Carlene Fries of Swainsboro; three sons, William Ray Thompson, the Rev. Roy Ed Thompson and Lawson Smith, all of Swainsboro; four sisters, Tina Welch and Ethelyn Harris, both of Kite, Georgia Flanders of Swainsboro and Bertha Riner of Adrian; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Pallbearers are nephews Don Flanders, Dorsey Flanders Jr., Harry Martin, John Martin, Jay Lawson, Dickey Harrison, Al Lawson Sr., Talmadge Riner and Doyle Kersey.
Honorary escorts are men of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Eloise Smith Bailey, 84

SUMMERTOWN--Funeral for Eloise Smith Bailey, 84, was held Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Summertown Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Tillman and the Rev. Bob Conley officiating. Burial followed at the Brinson Family Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Swainsboro Nursing Home.
Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Georgia Southern and Berry College and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was an English teacher at Swainsboro High School for 37 years and had been named Emanuel County Teacher of the Year. She was a member of UDC, DAR, Retired Teachers Association and The Summertown Homemakers Club. She also taught the adult Sunday school class at Summertown Baptist Church where she had been a member for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wallace Coleman Bailey.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Bailey Evans of Summertown; one grandson and several nieces, nephews and relatives.
Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro had charge of arrangements.

Nettie Joyce McGhee Braddy, 68

AUGUSTA--Funeral for Nettie Joyce McGhee Braddy, 68, was held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Homes-South Chapel with the Rev. Charles Peters officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002.
Mrs. Braddy was a native of Emanuel County and owner of Joyce's Sanitation of Augusta. She was also a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Sarah Ruth Wilkerson and Gennean Boutwell, both of Augusta, Laura Curl of Swainsboro and Diane Davis of Atlanta; two sons, James McGhee of Augusta and Wayne McGhee of Hephzibah; two sisters, Helen Wilkerson of Stillmore and Bessie Ruth Dukes of Wadley; one stepbrother, Wendell Curl of Swainsboro; one stepsister, Juanita Jones of Grovetown; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers were Vernon Weatherford, C.W. Mock, Travis McGhee, Wayne McGhee Jr., Ronnie Bedgood Jr., and Wayne Davis.
Poteet Funeral Home of Augusta had charge of arrangements.

Marion Payne, 58

CINCINNATI, OHIO--Marion Payne, 58, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002.
She was the wife of the late Bobby Payne.
Survivors include four daughters, Vickie Broeman, Kathy Schmitmeyer, Sherry Meyers and Debra Kunkler; her parents, Raymond and Kathryn Dinkelacker; one brother, Mark Dinkelacker and 14 grandchildren.

Betty Ruth Beasley, 53

CENTERVILLE--Funeral for Betty Ruth Beasley, 53, was held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Crest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Macon with the Rev. Kelmer Durden officiating. Burial followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon.
She died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Houston County Medical Center.
Mrs. Beasley was a native of Emanuel County and a member of Shurlington Church of God in Macon. She was also a member of AARP.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Beasley of Centerville; one daughter, Stephanie Hayes of Macon; two brothers, Robert Webb and Jack Webb, both of Macon; two sisters, Veresta Spires of Byron and Bobby Meeks of Kite; and three grandchildren.
Crest Lawn Funeral Home of Macon had charge of arrangements.

Lillian Madge Shepherd Pruitt, 87

VIDALIA--Funeral for Lillian Madge Shepherd Pruitt, 87, was held Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Ramah Baptist Church cemetery near Gordon.
She died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Bethany Home in Vidalia.
Mrs. Pruitt was a native of McIntyre and the daughter of the late Moses and Dora Hardie Shepherd. She lived most of her life in Columbus and later moved to Lady Lake, Fla. She was a Baptist and a resident of Bethany Home in Vidalia.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gussie Shepherd Womack and Jimmie Brooks; three brothers, Fred Shepherd, Walter Lavender and Homer Shepherd.
Survivors include two sisters, Avis Hartley of Lyons and Ruth Wood of Augusta; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Charles Goodroe, Tommy Brooks, Wayne Hartley, David Hartley, Lewis Hartley, Don Wood, Dr. Fred Womack, Jim Costlaw.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Charles Ray Harmon, 87

SWAINSBORO-- Charles Ray Harmon, 87, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Swainsboro Nursing Home. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Harmon was born in Augusta and lived in Swainsboro since 1925. He was retired from the Carrlee Grocery Co. and a member of Swainsboro First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 244.
Survivors include two brothers, John Marion Harmon of Decatur and George Pierce of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Kathleen Copeland of Bamburg, S.C. and Nanatte Smith of Springhill, Fla.
Tomlinson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Everett Cauley, 80

CLEWISTON, FLA.--Funeral for Everett Cauley, 80, was held Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Sammons Funeral Home Chapel in Soperton with the Rev. Richard Dobson officiating. Burial was at Old Smyrna/Chambers cemetery in Toombs County.
He died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002.
Mr. Cauley was a native of Treutlen County and son of the late David and Liddie H. Cauley. He was a retired commercial fisherman and a member of the Church of God in Bell Glade, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Chambers Cauley; three sons, Charles Cauley and John A. Cauley, both of Blountstown, Fla. and Cad Cauley of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters, Helen Whitehurst of Blountstown, Fla., Diane V. Cornette of Albany and Carol E. Berry of Ft. Campbell, Ky.; one brother, Emmitt Cauley of Swainsboro; 27 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Elton Jackson, Jeff Mason, Danny Mason, Earl Chambers, Barney Chambers and Mack Chambers.
Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton had charge of arrangements.
