Janelle Parker Grellman
Mrs. Janelle Parker Grellman, age 70, of Hampton, Georgia died April 6, 2008. Mrs. Grellman was born
in Clayton County the daughter of the late Ora Luana Johnson and Carl Jackson Parker. She was a divine Christian woman who enjoyed working with and corresponding with missionaries, she was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the choir with her beautiful alto voice before becoming ill. Mrs. Grellman enjoyed flowers and cooking.
Survivors are her loving husband of 52 years, Johnny Grellman of Hampton; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Arch McCleskey of Olalla, Washington ; grandchildren, April Collins Peck of Silverdale, Washington and Adam Collins of Kent, Washington ; great grandson, Johnathan Collins; siblings, Carl Parker (Betty) of Stockbridge, Myron Parker (Frances) of Tifton, Helen Steele (Angus) of Riverdale, Carolyn McCoy of Mc-Donough, Thelma Johnson of Hampton, Ethel Foster (William) of McDonough and Harold Parker (Grace) of Hampton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 9 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Henderson officiating. Interment Church cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Catherine Hightower Stroud
Mrs. Catherine Hightower Stroud, age 92, of McDonough, Georgia died April 6, 2008. Mrs. Stroud was born
in Henry County the daughter of the late Jessie Weems and Henry Clinton Hightower. She was a member of McDonough Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Stroud was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed her family and friends, reading and camping. Her husband, James Earl Stroud, Sr.; sister, Marie Hightower Copeland; brother, Clinton Weems Hightower preceded her in death.
Survivors are her children, Nancy (Tony) Moye, Jim (Jill) Stroud, Kay (Eddy) Smith all of McDonough; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Smith of Decatur, Michael (Lisa) Tew, Kristen (Brian) Peterson of Lilburn, Christopher Stroud of Jack-sonville, Kimberly Stroud (Scott) Tinsley of Senoia; great grandchildren, Owen Keller, Katherine Peterson, John Will Peterson, Emily Tinsley, and Abigail Tew.
Services were held April 8 at the McDonough Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dudley Rose and Rev. Rachael Knoll officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. Jewel Modena Vaughn
Jewel Modena Vaughn, age 99, of McDonough, Georgia died Sunday, April 6, 2008. She was born
in Terral, Oklahoma to the late George and Priscilla Winningham Johnson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of McDonough. Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Vestal Vaughn, Sr. and sons, Vestal Vaughn, Jr. and Kenneth Vaughn.
Survivors are her son, James (Darlyne) Vaughn of McDonough; daughter, Pamela Jo (Don) Bunker of Huntington Beach, California; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mary Joyce Harrison
Mary Joyce Harrison, age 71, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was born
in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Larry Taylor and Doris Kinney.
Survivors are her husband, Harold Harrison of Stock-bridge; son, Ross and Gloria Hughes of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Mitzi and Tommy Sams of McDonough; five grandchildren, Crystal Hughes, Melissa Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, Mitch Sams, JoDee Lyle; five great grandchildren, Hannah White, Messiah Dennis, Aleigha Sams, Tommy Sams III, and Austin Lyle.

James L. Whitaker
James L. "Jim" Whitaker, age 70, of McDonough, Georgia died April 8, 2008. He was born
in Hampton to Edna Huckaby Whitaker and the late James L. Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker was a Navy veteran. He loved to play golf and enjoyed gardening. But most important to him was his family; especially his grandson.
Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Foster Whitaker of McDo-nough; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Marty Maddox of Jackson; adored grandson, Ryan Spencer Maddox; mother, Edna Whitaker of Mc-Donough; sister, Joan Hall of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred Fowler Powell
Mrs. Mildred Fowler Powell, age 83, of McDonough, Georgia died April 10, 2008. Mrs. Powell was born
in Worth County the daughter of the late Alton G. and Argie Branch Fowler. She was a member of Flippen United Methodist Church. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon Powell; brothers, Ellis Fowler, Carson Fowler and Joseph Fowler.
Survivors are her children, Kathryn and Toby Turner of Valrico, Florida, Alvin and Yvonne Powell of Stockbridge, and Ernest “Ernie” and Susan Powell of McDonough; five grandchildren, James Turner, Karen Turner, Jason Powell, Crystal Bing, and Bryant Bond; three great grandchildren, Kameryn Powell, Jamie Turner and Alexandra Williams; sisters, Montez Giles of Jackson, Linda Gail Davis of McDonough; brother, Garvin Fowler of Sylvester; numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel Butler Ahler, Jr.
Mr. Daniel (Bud) Butler Ahler, Jr., age 90, died April 12, 2008. Bud was born
in Frankfort, Kentucky, the eldest of the six children of Daniel B. Ahler, Sr. and Caroline Margaret (Yagel) Ahler. Bud served in the Army Air Corps working as a pilot and then took these skills to the Bendix Corporation as field service engineer after being honorably discharged. Before retiring from Bendix in 1982, Bud traveled extensively lending his expertise to many projects, including the C-5A military transport’s landing gear and the SR-71 in the 1960s with Lockheed. Bud was a long time resident of East Point and a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hapeville, prior to moving to McDonough several years ago to be closer to his daughter Marian, who was his care giver in his final years. His wife, Mona Lee (Ware) Ahler, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother Harold Joseph Ahler of Frankfort, Kentucky, his sister Eileen Frances Ahler of Jackson, New Jersey, and his two daughters, Marian Eileen Ahler of McDonough, and Karen Lee Ahler of Louisville, Kentucky.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough April 17, at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Murphy officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery
