KANSAS CITY, Kan.--Ottis E. Williford, 778, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, following a brief illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Williford had lived in Kansas City 38 years. He had retired from the U.S. Army and was owner of a television cable construction company. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Otis A. Williford of Memphis, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Griffin Williford; four daughters, Deanna Drake of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Sandi Wood of Moody, Texas, Susan Delich and Janet Fahye, both of Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Geneva Waters of Vidalia, Margaret Foskey of Oak Park and Ruth Hall of Hinesville; six brothers, R.L. Williford of Ellaville, J.R. Williford of Jacksonville, Fla., Aubrey Williford of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Bobby Williford of Jesup, Rudolph Williford of Vidalia and Don Williford of Savannah; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

SWAINSBORO --Funeral for the Rev. James Eliston Jr. was held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2001, from Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Marcellus Hannah and the Rev. Benjamin Alston officiated. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
He died Sunday, July 8, in East Georgia Medical Center, Statesboro, following an extended illness.
A native of Tennessee, the Rev. Mr. Eliston was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was pastor of many churches in and around Emanuel County. The Rev. Mr. Eliston was a veteran of World War II in the Navy submarine services.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Wynn Eliston of Statesboro; seven sons, James S. Eliston III and Clayton Dixon, both of Swainsboro, Ricky Kelly of Atlanta, Leon Kelly of Statesboro, the Rev. Elgin Neal Dixon of Dublin, Gary Dixon and Steven Dixon of Adrian; four daughters, Talondria Wynn of San Antonio, Texas, Tameka Wynn of Swainsboro, Terra Dixon of Adrian and Theresa D. Jefferson of Detroit, Mich.; a brothers, Robert Eliston of Miami, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary Brown Thomas, 89
STILLMORE--Funeral for Mrs. Mary Brown Thomas, 89, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001, from Holly Spring Baptist Church in Rumulus, Ala. The Rev. W.E. Pitts officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She died Sunday evening, July 8, following an extended illness.
A native of Tuscaloosa County, Ala., where she lived most of her life, Mrs. Thomas was a member of Holly Spring Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Hannah of Northport, Ala., Mrs. Flossie Johnson of Stillmore, Mrs. Ola Hall of Amityville, N.Y., and Mrs. Betty Thomas of Ralph, Ala.; four sons, Clemmie Thomas of Northport, Ala., Early Floyd Thomas of Hemstead, N.Y., Lucious Thomas of Northport, Ala., and James Howard Thomas of Hemstead, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MILLEN--Graveside service for Caleb Dewayne Wilkerson, infant son of Travis and Angela Mons Wilkerson, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2001, from Long Branch Church Cemetery.
He died Saturday, July 14, in Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.
Survivors, in addition to the parents, include a sister, Amanda Lynn Wilkerson of Millen; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Mons of Millen; paternal grandmother, Myrtle Braddy of Swainsboro; paternal grandfather, Roy Wilkerson of Twin City; and maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Mons of Millen.

Mrs. Latrelle Dixon, 82
TWIN CITY--Funeral for Latrelle Dixon, 82, was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2001, from Hebron Primitive Baptist Church near Garfield. Elder Tommy Rountree and Elder Mannings Temples officiated. Burial was in Twin City City Cemetery.
She died Friday, July 13, in Meadows Memorial Hospital, Vidalia.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Dixon was a member of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Sara Garren of Kite and Edith Ford of Pearland, Texas; a son, Horace Wimberly Jr. of Waynesboro; a brother, Hugh Rountree of Twin City; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brian Rountree, Carey Rountree, Sonny Trapnell, Elbert McNair, W.J. Wimberly and Jerry Frymoth.

Walter Thomas Spence, 72
REIDSVILLE--Funeral for Walter Thomas Spence, 72, was held Friday, July 6, 2001, from the chapel of Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville. The Rev. Wayne Page and the Rev. Larry Spence officiated. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery in Toombs County.
Formerly of Emanuel County, Mr. Spence had lived many years in Ocala, Fla., and in Metter. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Spence served six years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Page Spence of Reidsville; two daughters, Janice Spence Raymond of Covington and Angela Spence Herrington of Twin City; and a son, Walter Thomas Spence Jr. of Jesup.
Pallbearers were Ralph Paige, Steve Paige, Larry Hadden, Keith Slater, Ashley Paige and Joey Parrish.
Thomas E. Sause, 74
SWAINSBORO--Service for Thomas E. Sause, 74, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, from the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary. Father Bill Smith officiated. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery, Swainsboro.
He died Thursday, July 12, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, and former resident of Emanuel County, Mr. Sause had resided in Ft. Meyers, Fla., 20 years before moving back to Emanuel County. He had retired from Automatic Sprinkler Company after 32 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Sause was the son of the late Frank and Geraldine Sause.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Gayan Sause of Swainsboro; two daughters, Diane Sause and Karen Hartmeyer, both of Swainsboro; two sons, Thomas Edward Sause Jr. of Bartow and Ronald James Sause of Iva, S.C.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alvin Festus Meeks, 86
VERO BEACH, Fla.--Graveside service for Alvin Festus Meeks, 86, was held at 12 noon Monday, July 16, 2001, from Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery near Summertown. Elder Tommy Rountree officiated.
He died Wednesday, July 11, at his residence.
A native of Johnson County, Mr. Meeks had moved to Vero Beach in 1935 from Swainsboro, being the first Meeks family to settle in Indian River County. He was a carpenter the entire time he lived in Vero Beach, except for 1945 to 1946 when he was with Vero Beach Police Department. Mr. Meeks had been a member of Carpenters Local #1477 since 1942.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Tomerlin of Columbia, S.C., and Lavelle Graham of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven sons, Austin Meeks, Johnny Meeks and Gerald Meeks, all of Vero Beach, Fla., Charles Meeks of Washington, D.C., Ronnie Meeks of Carlsbad, N.M., Edgar Meeks of Franklin, N.C., and Lamar Meeks of Fort Pierce, Fla.; 29 grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

SOPERTON--Funeral for Mrs. Bessie O. Williamson, 87, was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001, from the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary, Swainsboro. The Rev. Lamar Little officiated. Burial was in Corbin Family cemetery near Soperton.
She died Sunday, July 15, in Emanuel County Nursing Home, Swainsboro, following an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Williamson graduated from Oak Park High School. She was a member of Morningside Baptist and was the daughter of the late Neal Corbin and Dora Kirby. Mrs. Williamson was the widow of James Meadows "Jim" Williamson and was the mother of the late James Ronald "Ronnie" Williamson.
Survivors include a sister, Zelma Williamson of Soperton; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Richard J. Williamson Jr., James Williamson, Louis Bellamy, Ashley Corbin, Max Phillips, Chris Williamson, Greg Williamson and Allen Morris.

MILLEDGEVILLE--Funeral for Mrs. Edna Fountain Youngblood, 87, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, from the chapel of Williams White Columns Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Edwards officiated. Burial was in Snow Hill cemetery in Wilkinson County.
She died Tuesday afternoon, July 3, in a local hospital.
A native of Wilkinson County, Mrs. Youngblood had lived in Gordon most of her life and had lived in Milledgeville the past seven years. She was the widow of Joe M. Youngblood and daughter of the late Frank Fountain Sr. and the late Annie Lou Whitaker Fountain. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Washington County.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann Griffin of Milledgeville; a son, Jimmy Youngblood of Milledgeville; a sister, Mrs. Arrilla Hooks of Gordon; a brother, Dick Fountain of Swainsboro; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Raymond W. Holland, 61
JESUP--Graveside service for Raymond W. Holland, 61, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2001, from Plum Orchard Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, July 11, at his home.
A native of McIntosh County, Mr. Holland had lived in Darien before moving to Jesup three years ago. He was employed by Billy Love Trucking, Denmark, S.C.
Survivors include his wife, Ivy R. Holland of Jesup; two daughters, Roxanne Rozier and Cheyenne Rae Holland, both of Jesup; four sons, Wesley Holland of Swainsboro, Timmy P. Holland of Oak Hill, Fla., Michael Holland of Darien and Tony Rozier of Jesup; his mother, Robbie Holland of Eustis, Fla.; three sisters, Lanell Wiley of Umatilla, Fla., Martha Holland and Wanda Patterson, both of Eustis; two brothers, Alfred Holland of Phoenix, Ariz., and Glenn Holland of Mims, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
