Beuna Carter

Stephens County native

Beuna Ethel Walters Carter, 90, of Clermont, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Clermont.

Born May 3, 1914, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late William and Etta Dodd Walters. She had lived most of her life in Toccoa and resided in Florida for the past 10 years. She was a charter member of Clavary Baptist Church in Toccoa and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carter, and a son, Jack Carter.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 22, from the graveside in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Leroy Phillips officiated. Interment followed in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Hazel House of Clermont, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Debra Carter of Toccoa; two brothers, Hugh D. Walters of St. Cloud, Fla., and Chaffin Walters of San Miguel, N.M.; two sisters, Betty Williams of Winter Garden, Fla., and Katie Romanello of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; seven grandchildren; a number of great- and great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Al Carter, Sammy House, Doug Carter, Justin Carter, Clay Carter and William Stephens.

Memorials may be made to Stephens County Gideons, P.O. Box 663, Toccoa, GA 30577.

Unie Wilkinson Farmer

Homemaker

Unie Wilkinson Farmer, 102, of Toccoa, widow of Glen Davis Farmer Sr., died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at the Toccoa Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 16, 1902 in Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Maggie Holcomb Wilkinson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vertie Lovin and a son, Glen Farmer Jr.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 22, from the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary. The Revs. Bill Evans and Jerrell Beatty officiated. Interment followed in Stephens Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include a son, Avery Farmer of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Ronnie and Teresa Lovin of Toccoa, Edward and Jackie Loden of Hampton, Mike and Mary Farmer of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Danny Farmer of Florida, Deyrell "Bo" Farmer of Atlanta; one sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Buck Parsons of Cornelia.

Pallbearers were Steve Tilley, Tommy Farmer, Gene Wilbanks, Glen Farmer, Travis Owens and Robert Shapiro.

Whitlock Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

James "Jimbo" McDaniel

Fulton County native

James "Jimbo" McDaniel, 41, of Martin, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at his home, following a sudden illness.

A native of Fulton County, he was a former resident of Dawson County for 20 years. He was formerly employed by Martin Marietta and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Neal McDaniel, and step-father, Aubie D. "Mac" McKenzie.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Dawsonville Methodist Church. Pastor Ricky Stepp officiated. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Fritz of Dawsonville; daughter, Dannielle McDaniel of Dawsonville; sons, Ray Kennedy of Paducah, Ky., Josh Kennedy of Dawsonville, Kirk Kennedy of Hubert, N.C.; mother, Clifford A. "Cliff" McKenzie of Martin; sisters, Charlotte Dietrich of Dawsonville and Lynn Phinney of Auburn; brothers, Glenn McDaniel of Dawsonville, Bill McDaniel of Dawsonville, Tommy McDaniel of Martin, Dan McKenzie of Buford; and, a number of other relatives.

Bearden Funeral Home, Dawsonville, was in charge of arrangements.

Shirley T. Kubek

Florist

Shirley Ann Todd Kubek, 63, of Toccoa, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at the Hospice of Atlanta.

A daughter of the late Arlo and Gladys Dodd Todd, she was born Dec. 21, 1940, in Habersham County, where she had lived most of her life. She owned and operated a florist in Clarkesville for a number of years and later worked with East Currahee Florists in Toccoa. She also was a school bus driver for the Habersham County School System for a number of years and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casimer "Casey" Kubek, and by a sister, Helen Todd Walters Davis.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 16, at Antioch Baptist Church. Layman Doug Franklin and the Rev. Brian Stephens officiated. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Ann Harwood of Roswell; one son, Anthony C. Kubek of Acworth; three grandchildren; one brother, Ernest V. Todd of Auburn; three sisters, Lois Baron and Betty Heaton, both of Mt. Airy, and Jo Blakenship of Kennesaw; and, a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ed Walters, David Blankenship, Mike Blankenship, Joey Heaton, Richard Barron, Russ Todd, Carlton Walters, and Doug Heaton.

Acree -Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lossel Mace

Heavy equipment operator

Lossel Mace, 70, of Toccoa, husband of Lunie Jones Mace, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Stephens County Hospital.

Born June 7, 1934, in Jackson County, N.C., he was a son of Newt and Sarah Shook Mace and had lived in Toccoa for 25 years. He was a member of the New Testament Holiness Church and was a heavy equipment operator.

Graveside services will be held today, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. at Roselane Cemetery. The Revs. Larry Cooper and France Pitre will officiate. Interment will follow.

Survivors include his wife, Lunie Jones of the home; two sons, Billy Mace of Eastanollee and David Mace of Toccoa; two daughters, Cathy Blythe and Diane Poe, both of Toccoa; two brothers, Larry Mace and Jim Mace, both of Sylva, N.C.; one sister, Helen Mace of Sylva, N.C.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Whitlock Morturay is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Marvin Willis Sr.

Former pastor of Liberty Hill Baptist Church

The Rev. Marvin Hunter Willis Sr., 79, of North Carolina, formerly of Eastanollee, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home.

He was a native of Rutherford County, a son of the late Stokes and Ilia Willis. He was a former pastor of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Eastanollee. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Keith Willis, and brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held today, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of Gastonia. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. from the Southern Baptist Church cemetery in Rutherfordton.

Suvivors include his wife, Patricia Deter Willis; son, Marvin Willis Jr. of Raleigh; daughter, Rachel Neal of Lawrenceville; and, three grandchildren.

Ward Funeral Home of Gastonia, N.C., is in charge of arrangement.

Beatrice G. Crocker

Retired Grand Union cashier

Beatrice G. Crocker, 73, of Lavonia, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Anderson area Medical Center, Anderson, S.C.

Born April 27, 1931 in Beaumont, S.C., she was the daughter of the late David W. Garrett and Gladys Beatrice Branch Garrett. She was a retired cashier for Grand Union and was of the Protestant faith.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the chapel of Hamby Funeral Home. The Rev. Al Clements officiated. Graveside services were held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park.

Hamby Funeral Home of Lavonia was in charge of the arrangements.

Faye Farmer

Stephens County native

Faye McFarlin Farmer, 86, of Tucker, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at North Lake Gardens Care Center in Tucker.

A daughter of the late Carl and Pearl Garner McFarlin, she was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Stephens County where she lived most of her life having lived in Aiken, S.C., for 25 years and in Tucker for the last three years. She was a graduate of Toccoa High School and Perry Business College. She was a member of Toccoa First Baptist Church, Truth Seekers Sunday School Class and the senior citizens group of the church. She was also a former member of Toccoa Women's Club and Stephens County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Farmer, and a son, Bob Farmer.

Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Jim Nelson and the Rev. Dr. Henry Fields will officiate. Interment will follow in Toccoa City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ben Farmer, Bobby Farmer, James Farmer, John Moseley, Howard Farmer Jr. and Mike Kandrach.

Joseph R. Beyrle

506th reunion founder

Joseph R. Beryle I died Dec. 12, 2004, in Toccoa. He was born in Muskegon to William and Elizabeth (Smith) Beyrle on Aug. 26, 1923. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1942 and joined the Army in Sept. 1942. He was a member of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborn Division and served in Europe, participating in D-Day, 1944. He worked as a supervisor at the Brunswick Corporation for 28 years, retiring in 1981. He was a past national president of the 101st Airborne Association, a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and of the VFW Post 3734, DAV, American Legion, Rotary Club, Eagles, Elks, Mona Lake Boat Club and was active in many community groups. He also was former chairman of the Muskegon County Veterans Commssion and formerly served on the Norton Shores City Commission.

Funeral services will be held today, Dec 17, at 11 a.m. at Clock Chapel in Muskegon, Mich.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnne (they celebrated their 58th anniversary last September); daughter, Julie, and husband, Jack Schugars; son, Joe II, and wife, Kathy Beyrle; and son, John, and wife, Jocelyn Beyrle; grandchildren, Amanda and husband, Matthew Lynn; Eric Schugars; Joseph III; Victoria; Christopher Beyrle; Alison and Caroline Beyrle; great-grandson, Alexander Beyrle; and, one sister, Cecila. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
