MITCHELL, Ga. - Funeral services for Mr. Jerold Lynne Tucker B.K.A. "Booke-Man" age 38, of Mitchell were held on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, Mitchell, with the Rev. Louis Neal, officiating. Interment was in Sandy Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Mitchell.
Survivors include three sons, Demetrius Tucker, Jeremy Tucker and Herman Fordham, all of Wrens; a godson, Xavier Brown, Wrens; father, James T. Tucker, Mitchell; a brother, James B. Tucker (Rita) Stockbridge; three sisters, Pamela Cummings, Wrens, Tanya (Troy) Winfrey, Mitchell, and LaTonia Tucker (Ryan), Thomson; grandmother, Agnes Tucker, Mitchell; special friend, Alice Lane, Wrens; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. William Allen Howell, Retired Barber
MITCHELL, Ga. - Mr. William Allen Howell, 82, died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Burial followed in the Jewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Howell, a native and life long resident of Warren County, was a retired barber and owner of Howell's Barber Shop. He was a member of Jewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and teacher of the Adult Men's Sunday School class. He was a writer and poet and regularly contributed to The Warrenton Clipper.
Survivors include one sister, Evelyn H. Shelton, Mitchell, Ga.; two nephews, Allen M. Howell, Mo., and Billy Shelton, Wrens; four nieces, Mary May, Warthen, Ga., Henrietta Guy, Thomson, Cathy Kitchens, Mitchell, Ga. and Gracie Costello, Mitchell, Ga.

GIBSON, Ga. - Mr. J.W. Braswell, 76, loving son of the late Walter and Cora Lee Braswell, entered into rest Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the V.A. Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Gibson Union Methodist Church with Rev. Griffin Thompson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Braswell was a native of Jefferson County, a member of the Gibson United Methodist Church and an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the Lily Cup Factory for 22 years and at the J.M. Huber Chalk Company for 19 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mrs. Sybil Neal Braswell; two sons, Mike Braswell and Joan of Gibson and Larry (Marcia) Braswell of Mesena; one brother, Bobby (Mary Ann) Braswell of Stapleton; four grandchildren, Jason Braswell, Tara (Paul) Searcy, Travis Braswell and Ray Hill; one great-grandchild, Payton Amy Searcy. He was preceded in death by sister, Inez Kitchens and a granddaughter, Amy Braswell.
Pallbearers were Bruce Logue, Richard Kitchens, Jack Crunkelton, Jeff Crunkelton, Matt Knoeferl, Ross Rabun and Eric Braswell.

MITCHELL, Ga. - Mr. Bill Reese, 71, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Patsy Reese, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Roper St. Francis Hospital, in Charleston, S.C.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Ramsey and Rev. Mike Cook officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Reese was a native of Kite, Ga., but had lived in Thomson and Mitchell for many years. He attended the First Baptist Church of Thomson and The First Baptist Church of Gibson. He was a retired business owner.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Patsy Reese, Mitchell, Ga.; his daughter, Karen Reese, St. Petersburg, Fla.; his son, Kendel and his wife Cristie Reese, Atlanta; a sister, Patsy, and her husband, Roy Russell, Thomson; two brothers, Teddy, and his wife, Rebecca Reese, Thomson, Edward Lee Smith, Kite, Ga.
Mr. Reese was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Reese.

Mr. James Rhea Lyle

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. James Rhea Lyle, beloved husband of Avis Ann Rollins, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Betty Louise Lyle of Aiken; son, Paul R. Lyle and grandson, Byron R. Lyle of Martinez; brothers, Edward Lyle of Aiken, and Robert Coy (Cheryl) Lyle of North Augusta; and many special friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 3 p.m. in the Belair Road Chapel of Platt's Funeral Home with Gene Sawyer, Ted Stephens, and Gerald Stephens, Elders of North Augusta Bible Chapel, presiding. Interment was at Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Lyle, son of the late G. C. Lyle, was born in Madison, Tenn., and raised in Aiken. He was a graduate of Aiken High School and attended the University of South Carolina Aiken and Phillips College, graduating with a degree in accounting. Mr. Lyle had a penchant for business and showed his entrepreneurial spirit at an early age by becoming the local paper delivery boy at 7 years of age. One of his earliest jobs, Manager at Southern Eye Clinic, laid the groundwork for two of his successes in life - introduction to his beloved wife, Avis Ann, and introduction to the Richmond County Medical Society where he was hired to serve as its Executive Secretary and held that position for nearly 30 years. From this, Mr. Lyle was able to highlight his affinity for business by starting his own successful consulting firm, Healthcare Consultants of America. As CEO of HCCA, Mr. Lyle became a highly sought after consultant and public speaker, having delivered well over 1000 workshops and seminars across North America on topics such as medical billing, coding, and practice management throughout his career. Mr. Lyle also authored many practice management guides and numerous articles for magazines and medical society bulletins. He was recognized as a medial coding expert and was known to have read the CPT code book on a daily basis. To many, he was a walking encyclopedia of medical practice management. Through HCCA, he aligned himself with several associations in the medical community, becoming Executive Director of the Georgia Association of Pathologist, Georgia Gastroenterological and Endoscopic Society, Georgia-South Carolina Society of Nephrology, Alabama Association of Pathologists, Louisiana Pathology Society, RCMS Project Access, Inc., Georgia Colon Cancer Coalition, and Mississippi Association of Pathologists. He also founded Physician Billing Services in Augusta, providing billing services to doctors throughout the state. Both companies were eventually sold to MAG Mutual Healthcare Solutions in Atlanta, making way for Mr. Lyle to begin yet another venture by founding The Bureau of Medical Economics, an association management company. As CEO of the Medical Bureau, Mr. Lyle concentrated his efforts on continuing to serve as Executive Director of various medical organizations, and through RCMS Project Access, had a determination to assist the uninsured in our community by working to make healthcare available to these citizens. He was a Charter and Life Member of the National Association of Health Care Consultants, a member of the American Association of Medical Society Executives and the Georgia Society of Association Executives, and a Life Member of the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants.
Mr. Lyle was a very active member of the community, serving as a little league coach, on the Community Development Council for St. Joseph Hospital, and on the Thomson-McDuffie Board of Tourism. He was also a graduate of Leadership McDuffie. Mr. Lyle had a great devotion to Rotary International and its many programs. He joined the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club in 1975 and served as its President from 1979 until 1980. He also served a term as Secretary and on the Board of Directors. In 1992, Mr. Lyle volunteered to go to Russia to assist the new country with establishment of private practice medicine after the fall of the USSR. The trip was sponsored by Rotary International and the new Russian government. Mr. Lyle met often with the Mayor of Moscow, Mr. Yuri Luzhkow, and the Russian Minister of Health in the Kremlin, formatting better ways to deliver quality healthcare. Mr. Lyle lectured several times at the Moscow Medical Academy (a 3,000-bed hospital) as well as one-on-one contacts with the physicians. In 1995, Mr. Lyle participated in a Rotary Peace Forum in Senegal, West Africa, where he helped provide equipment and expertise to hospitals in need. Also in 1995, Mr. Lyle was elected Governor of Rotary International District 6910 in Georgia at its annual convention in Nice, France. Mr. Lyle served as District Governor from 1995-1996. During his term he helped organize a Rotary Peace Forum between Athens, Greece, and Athens, Ga., during the 1996 Olympics. As District Governor, Mr. Lyle allocated funds to help establish a Rotary District Office that has served all Rotary Foundations. He was also a Will Watt Fellow and has a named scholarship fund to the Georgia Rotary Student Program. My Lyle served as an Endowment Trustee for the GRSP for nearly 10 years.
An avid pilot for nearly 40 years, Mr. Lyle joined the U.S.A.F. Civil Air Patrol as a Cadet in 1963 and remained a member until his death. During his career he obtained the rank of Captain and served his squadron as its Finance Officer. In addition, he was a fully qualified Search & Rescue Pilot in the State of Georgia. In 2000, Mr. Lyle purchased the Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at the Thomson-McDuffie Regional Airport and oversaw many improvements at the airport, including installation of an Instrument Landing System (ILS), ramp and runway improvements, a new terminal building, and a fire station. Mr. Lyle sold the FBO in 2005. Mr. Lyle has owned and flown more than 40 different aircrafts of all types. He also holds the USA and World Speed Record for Single Engine Aircraft "Speed" over a recognized course.
Mr. Lyle was awarded many distinctions throughout his life, being named a Jaycees Outstanding Young Man in America, listed in Who's Who of the South and Southeast. He also received the Distinguished Service Award from the Richmond County Medical Society in 2002 and received the Non-Physician of the Year, Distinguished Service Award by the Medical Association of Georgia in 2004.
Mr. Lyle was a son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and special friend. He touched many people throughout his life and had an impact on everyone he met. He was a very generous and caring individual, not only with his family, but also his friends and employees. He has left a legacy of love and will be missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers were Terry Cook, MD, Bill Brooks, MD, Butch "Alton" Garrison, MD, Joe Bailey, MD, J. David Roper, Kyle Graham, and Tom Harley. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Richmond County Medical Society and Members of the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club.

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. A.E. "Bud" Gray, 60, entered into rest Friday, April 11, 2008, at his residence.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Monday evening at Sheppard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Adrian Burrell officiating.
A native of Warren County, Mr. Gray lived in Glascock and Richmond Counties for most of his life. He was an electrician by trade.
Mr. Gray's family would like to extend their heart felt thanks to the staff of Trinity Hospice, Dr. Paul Bilodeau, and his caregiver, Mrs. Florence Jefferson for all they did during his illness.
He is survived by his loving mother, Mrs. Ethel Gray Hinton; stepfather, Paul Hinton; two brothers, Wayne Gray of Augusta and Mark (Pam) Gray of Warrenton; five sisters, Pat (Rick) Rios of Augusta, Linda Barrow of Gibson, Kathy Benson of North Augusta, Wanda (Mel) Jobes of Thomson and Cindy (Murphy) Harrell of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Atwell E. Gray, Sr. and his sister, Judy Purvis.

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Michael James Register, 72, widower of Mrs. Mary Jean Register, died Friday, May 2, 2008, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Thomson First United Methodist Church with Revs. Tom Kerr and Liza Marler officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Register was born in Rentz, Ga., and lived in Macon before moving to Thomson. A retired Human Resources Manager for J.M. Huber Corporation, a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church. Scout Master of Troop 125, Mr. Register served on the Advisory Committee of the Boy Scouts of America. He won the Silver Beaver Award which is the highest award given in scouting.
Survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey M. (Elaine) Register, Macon, Timothy J. (Angel) Register, Atlanta, and Jonathan A. (Rosemary) Register, Thomson; his mother, Mrs. Helen Register, Macon; a sister, Brenda (Barry) King, Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Ted (Lisa) Register, Forsyth; three grandsons, Brandon M. Register, Steven L. Register, Anthony L. Langham; five granddaughters, Lauren Register, Anna Marie Register, Mallory Register, Jamie Lee Register, Kristy E. (Jefferson) Rabun' a great-grandson, Joshua W. Rabun; and his beloved pet, Scout Register.

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. George A. "Ollie" Brown, 73, husband of Jackie Brown, entered into rest Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Doctors Hospital.
Mr. Brown was a native of Lincolnton and a lifetime resident of the Augusta area. He was retired after 33 years from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Brown owned Rhodes-Murphy Tax Office Franchise in Lincolnton. He was a Baptist. He was a longtime, loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed gardening.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters Kim Robinson (Tommy) of Martinez, Rene Suggs (Dale) of Thomson; sons Keith Brown (Dani) of North Augusta, Kevin Brown (Karen) of Martinez; grandchildren Stephanie Robinson (Stephen), Michael Robinson, Jason Robinson, Jaime Putnam (Eli), Sean Suggs, Kailyn Brown, Ramsey Brown, Blake Moore, Anne Cevales; three great-grandchildren; brothers Lanier Brown, Ed Brown and sisters: Brenda Mercer (Tommy) and Judy Barber.

Aunt Sallie, as she was affectionately known, leaves to cherish her loving and giving memories a self-appointed daughter (niece) Amy Lee Benson of Thomson; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Beard of Thomson, and Mrs. Grocie Curry of Ft. Meyers FL; one brother, Mr. Sammie Shank of Atlanta.
Services were held Wednesday, February 6, at 1:30 p.m. First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Appling with Rev. Roscoe Perry officiating.
