Mrs. Sarah Rogers Clements

WRENS, Ga. - Mrs. Sarah Rogers Clements, 89, the beloved wife of the late Phillip Clements, and the daughter of the late Earl and Julia Weeks Rogers, entered into rest Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Gibson Health & Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday April 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Wrens Baptist Church, with Rev. Julian West and Rev. Stan Littleton officiating. Burial followed at Wrens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Clements was a member of Wrens Baptist Church where she was member of Agnes Martin Sunday School class and also was a member of Wrens Keenagers.

Survivors include her children, Raley (Mary Ann) Clements, Wrens, Emory (Dale) Clements, Wrens, Jeanette (Charles) McCorkle, Dearing, Gene (Katie) Clements, Thomson, Vera (Edward) Kennedy, Warthen, Ga., Harold (Janice) Clements, Matthews Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Vic Clements, Vance Clements, Greg Clements Lisa McDonald, Michael McGahee, Kevin McGahee, Nancy Morgan, Becky Olomon, Cathy Key Woods, Hal Clements, and Chris Clements, 17 great grandchildren, sister, Elizabeth Davis, Wrens, and a brother, James Rogers, Augusta.

Mrs. Clements was preceded in death by her son John Gregory Clements, Brothers, Earl Rogers and John Leslie Rogers, a sister, Minnie Newsome, and a grandson, Tony Kitchens.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Alzheimers Association, Diabetic Association or Gideons International.

James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ronnie Darrell Love

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Ronnie Darrell Love, 56, entered into rest April 13, 2008, at the Downtown V.A. Hospital.

Memorial services were held from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors today, Tuesday, at 6 p.m. with the Rev. George A. Holcombe, Jr. officiating.

Mr. Love, a native of Thomasville, Ga., was a son of the late Charles J. and Idether Vickery Love and had lived in the Harlem area most of his life. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Love was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Faye Love.

Survivors include his children, Rebecca York and Melissa Price both of Thomson, Jerry Taylor and Joseph Peebles both of Waynesboro; brothers, John Love of Augusta, Eugene Love of Harlem, Terry Love of Augusta, Gary Love of Grovetown, James Love of Dearing, George Cooper of Gibson and Josh Love of Harlem; sisters, Patricia Malpass of Thomson, Darlene Watts of Blythe and Ann Webber of Dearing; grandchildren, Steven Alleva, Christopher Alleva, Cody Alleva and Joseph York.

Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rutherford Ralph Baldwin, Jr.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Funeral services for Mr. Rutherford Ralph Baldwin, Jr., were held on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, in Appling, with the Rev. Roscoe Perry officiating. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery.

Survivors are a loving mother, Christine Baldwin, Augusta; two stepdaughters, Ebony Lovett and Tiffany Lovett, both of Augusta; a stepson, Antwon Lovett, Augusta; a step-granddaughter, Jayla Meminger, Augusta; two godsons, Everett Bradshaw, Jr. and TreVaughn Burton, both of Augusta; three sisters, Brenda Smith, Theresa Caraway, and Valarie (James) Dexter, all of Augusta; a best friend, Ricky Bradshaw, Augusta; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carl Davis Newsome

WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. Carl Davis Newsome., 68, entered into rest May 1, 2008, at University Hospital.

Mr. Newsome was the beloved husband of 44 years to Carolyn C. Newsome, son of the late, Fred E. Newsome and Mary Lou Smith Newsome.

He survived by his children, Cheryl and Dick Williams, Carl Newsome Jr., and Melissa and Simon DiMaggio; three sisters, Louise Norris, Betty McDonald and Dorothy (Jake) Akins; and grandchildren, Kyle and Cody Ewest, Zoe and Simon DiMaggio, and Todd Williams; and his beloved pets, Scooter, Bandy, Buddy and Lucy.

Mr. Newsome is preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Newsome, Jr., Morgan Newsome, Roy Newsome and Mack Newsome.

Mr. Newsome was a member of Mesena United Methodist Church, retired truck driver for Bowman Trucking Co. He also served our country in U.S. Navy.

Funeral service was held Sunday May 4, 2008, at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Chance and Rev. Peter Strals officiating. Burial was at Jefferson Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Benji Cranford, Carey Cranford, Eddie Newsome, Roy Newsome, James Newsome, Billy Newsome, Jason Cash and Chase Braswell.

Honorary pallbearers were Warren Hart, Rudy McCorkle, J.C. Jones, Charles Chalker, Larry Forrester and Luke Wood.

If so desired, contributions may be made to the Pallaitive Care Unit, University Health foundation 2100 Central Ave. Augusta Ga. 30904 ear mark for family care suite.

Ms. Amanda Appling Piercy

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Amanda Appling Piercy, 27, entered into rest March 29, 2008.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Martin. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Amanda was born in Valdosta, Ga., but lived in Thomson most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons: Christian Piercy, Kansas, Devon Barrow, Thomson; daughter: Heidi Barrow, Thomson; mother: Rhonda Jackson, Sulfur, La.; father: Pat Wilson, Americus, Ga.; sister: Kelly Appling, Thomson; grandparents: Robbie and James Appling, Thomson; fiance': Timothy Barrow, Boneville.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ernest E. "Bo" Fellers, Jr.
Retired Liberty Life Insurance
GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, March 27, 2008, in Gainesville, Ga., Ernest E. "Bo" Fellers, Jr., 93, of Gainesville, formerly of Augusta and husband of the late Clennice Usry Fellers.

Mr. Fellers was a native of Columbia, S.C., was born March 4, 1915, but had lived the majority of his life in Augusta and had moved to Gainesville three years ago with his late wife. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in the US and Europe, retiring at the rank of Major. Mr. Fellers was also retired from the Liberty Life Insurance Company and also as a bailiff of the Richmond County Court System. He was a member of the Retired Military Officers Association and the John H. Davidson Masonic Lodge. He was also a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, where he was a member of the Crusader Sunday School Class, a Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years and was a past church moderator. Family members include his sons and daughters-in-law: Ernest E. Fellers III and Eleene Fellers of Gainesville, Ga., Richard H. Fellers and Kay Fellers of Thomson, and grandchildren: Sharon (Bo) Brownlow and Ashley Fellers.

Mr. Fellers was preceded in death by his wife: Clennice Usry Fellers and granddaughter: Lauren Kay Fellers.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Augusta. Interment followed Monday, March 31, 2008, at 9 a.m. in Westover Memorial Park with full military honors.

Ms. Elizabeth Cooper, Wal-Mart Employee

STATESBORO, Ga. -Ms. Elizabeth Cooper, 26, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in the Jenkins County Hospital.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.

Ms. Cooper was a native of Richmond County, but had lived in Statesboro for several years. She was employed at a Wal-Mart Distribution Center.

Survivors include her father and mother, John William and Tammye Pope Sr., Harlem; her mother, Sarah Pope, Hephzibah; four sisters, Winter Stevens and Jennifer Whitaker, both of Augusta, Sarah D. Pope and Rachel Kelley, both of Metter; and four brothers, Jonathan Cooper, Augusta, Jason Whitaker Sr., Hephzibah, Jonathan William Pope, Harlem, and John William Pope, Jr. Savannah.

Mrs. Kathy Yearwood Mixon

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Kathy Yearwood Mixon, 50, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the University Hospital.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rich Bowen officiating. Burial was in the Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Mixon was a native of McDuffie County. She was a former para-professional with the McDuffie County School System. She was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Jay Mixon, Thomson; her son, Kevin Mixon, Thomson; and her mother, Mrs. Betty Yearwood, Thomson. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Joe Yearwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 3715 Northside Pkw, 400 Northcreek, Suite 300, Atlanta Ga. 30327. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Thomas Denton
Truck Driver
GIBSON, Ga. - Mr. James Thomas Denton, 69, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, in Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 15, 2008, with Rev. Charles Reese officiating.

Mr. Denton was a native of Glascock County. He was a truck driver.

Survivors include two daughters, Tiffanie Denton Porter, Lincolnton, and Ashley Nicole Denton, Thomson; and three grandchildren, Dylan Denton, Dominique Porter, and Nathan Porter.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Charlene Newsome Bridges

STAPLETON, Ga. - Mrs. Charlene Newsome Bridges, 45, wife of Don Bridges, of Stapleton, Ga., entered into rest on Tuesday, January 15, 2008.

Funeral services were held from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors on Friday, January 18, 2008, at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Matthew Nelson officiating. Interment followed in Steadman Cemetery.

Mrs. Bridges, a lifelong resident of the Augusta area, was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Other survivors include her mother, Lee Ellen Carroll of Augusta; father and step-mother, Walter Frank and Edna Newsome; sons, James Randy Cook, Jr. of Augusta, Charles Bridges, II of Wrens, William T. Bridges of Appling; daughters, Candie Davis of Augusta and Christie Tarr of Wrens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Garland Newsome, Sr. of Hephzibah, Emmett and Katy Rhodes, Jr. of Evans, Steve and Mychele Rhodes of Thomson, Larry Joe and Marcie Newsome of Lyons, Ga.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Emanuel Story

Mr. James Emanuel Story, of Thomson, died Saturday January 4, 2008.

He is survived by six children: Joyce Austin of Waldorf, MD, Nancy Wright and Perry Story of Thomson, Larry (Cynthia) Story, Augusta, Angela Hannah, Richmond, Va., Mary Bailey of Charlotte, NC.; two sisters, Lucille Wright and Marie Walker, both of Thomson; one sister- in -law, Ruby Story, Atlanta; one brother-in-law, J.T. Williams of Thomson; 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Ms. Vera Reese.

Services were held Saturday, January 9, at Lithonia Baptist Church in Camak, with Rev. Kenneth Elder officiating.

Pinkston-Roberts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
