DEARING, Ga.- Mr. Timothy Paige Evans, 42, of Dearing, entered into rest July 20, 2004, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Debra Jones Evans.
Mr. Evans was born in Battle Creek, Mich., and has lived in McDuffie County for over 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Jones Evans of Dearing; five sons, Brett Hollis Evans of Dearing, Taylor Raye Evans of Thomson, J.R. Daniels of Michigan, Joshua and Christopher Willis of Dearing; one daughter, Elena Rivera Hodges of Louisiana; his mother, Geraldine Neal Evans (Marion)Young of Dearing; his father, James Hollis (Shirley) Evans of Battle Creek, Michigan; two brothers, James Taylor (Sylvia) Evans of Dearing and Rev. Tony (Starla) Evans of Macon, one sister, Tori Colleen (Tim) Waller of Harlem; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Kitchens officiating. Interment followed in the Neals cemetery in Dearing.
Pallbearers were Stevie Poss, Tommy Poss, Ricky Johnson, Tim Cosby, Eddie Boyd and Danny Dean.

Mr. Wayne Langham

THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Wayne Langham, 51, of Thomson, entered into rest July 26, 2004, at University Hospital after an extended battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Lessie Rogers Langham.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larron Pilgrim officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Langham was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Thomson most of his life. He was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church, a member of Thomson Country Club and was a retired clerk with CSX Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Lessie Rogers Langham of Thomson; daughter, Nikki Langham of Thomson; three brothers, Lawrence Langham, Sandersville, Linton (Nyra) Langham, Warrenton, and Tim (Kathy) Langham, Conyers; and three sisters, Dot (John) Thigpen, Thomson, Betty (Kenney) Conner, Pitts, and Carolyn (Ernest) Wilkerson, Thomson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy Langham and Mary Lou McCoy Langham, and two brothers, Eugene Langham and Johnny Langham.
Pallbearers were nephews.

NEWARK, N.J.- Mrs. Bertell Frails Lee of Newark, N.J. entered into rest Saturday, July 17, 2004.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 26, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Good Neighbor Baptist Church, Newark, N.J. with Rev. Dr. George Blackwell officiating. Burial was held in Newark, N.J.
Survivors are one son, James E. Mr. Jackson E. Malcom, Sr.

THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Jackson E. Malcom, Sr., 73, of Thomson, entered into rest July 22, 2004 at his residence.
The funeral was held at 11a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004 at Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Westview cemetery with Masonic Rights.
Mr. Malcom, a resident of North Augusta for 25 years was a native of Thomson. He retired as Chief of the Construction Budget at the Savannah River Plant after 35 years federal service and was a realtor. He served on the Augusta-SRP United Way, the CSRA Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and was President of the SRP Federal Employees Recreational Association. He graduated cum laude in Accounting from the University of Georgia in 1956 and received a Master's degree in Finance from the University of S.C. in 1970. He was elected to Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigm a honor societies and to Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. He was a member of First Baptist Church and its Men's Bible Class. He served as Missions Chairman during the Raysville Mission startup, Usher, Finance Committee Member, Teacher and on Repair Teams to Baptist properties. Mr. Malcom was a 32 degree Mason in the Augusta Scottish Rite, a member of the Harlem Masonic Lodge, A.J. Miller Masonic Lodge and Chief Ambassador in the Savannah Alee Shriners. He was appointed from 1993-99 on the Greenville Shriners Childrens Hospital Board of Governors and from 1996-1998 on the Atlanta Scottish Rite Hospital Child Care Committee. He was named Alee 1996 Shriner of the Year. He was a President of Thomson Shrine Club, member of Augusta Shrine Club and an Honorary Life Member of the Tybee Lite Shrine Club. He served five years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War including three years on the administrative staffs of flag officers and was a member of the Destroyer Sailors Association. He was a Comma nder of Admiral Hawes VFW Post 7778 and Ga. 10th District VFW Judge Advocate. Mr. Malcom was President of the Thomson Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was designated as Guiding Lion for chartering of the Thomson Camellia City Lions Club. He also served as Charter Vice President for the New Ellenton, S.C. Jaycees. He was Legislative Officer of the local chapter of NARFE-National Association for Retired Federal Employees. He was on the Executive Board of the Georgia-Carolina Boy Scouts Council and served as National Scout Jamboree Chairman and as a Scout Troop Leader and Red Cross Swimming Instructor. He was a Little League Coach and served as a leader in the YMCA Indian Guide and Princess Program. Mr. Malcom was a graduate of Leadership McDuffie and served on the Human Relations Commission and as a Voting Precinct Poll Manager. He received a special award in 1997 from the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities citing his related volunteer work that had made a significant impact on the lives of others and this work especially that for children is the way that he will be remembered.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Ansley Malcom; two daughters, Donna Malcom Barnhill and Pamela Malcom Graziano; a son, Jackson E. Malcom, Jr.; sister, Mary Reese and three grandchildren, Brittany Barnhill, Brooke Barnhill and Kylie Malcom.
Pallbearers were nephews. Honorary pallbearers were members of the First Baptist Men's Bible Class, members of the Masonic fraternity and members of the CC Lions Club.

Mrs. Willie Mae Miles
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Willie Mae Miles, 69, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 in the St. Joseph Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in the Dearing Full Gospel Church with the Revs. Jerry Rockefeller and Eddie Renew officiating. Burial was in Walker Cemetery.
Mrs. Miles was a native of Sylacauga, Alabama, but had lived in Thomson for several years. She was a homemaker and a member of Dearing Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include her husband, Clifton Pressley; four daughters, Sandra Noggle, Norma Faye Piachek and Angela Lokey, all of Thomson, Kim Miles, Dearing; three sons, Ronnie Welch, Dearing, Ray Miles and Richard Miles, both of Harlem; two sisters; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bobby Gene Phillips, Glenn Hayes, Michael Coulson, Jason Welch, Derrell Welch and Wayne Newsome.

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mrs. Emma Mae Mills, 75, wife of the late William R. "Will" Mills, entered into rest Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Beverly Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Mills was a native of Elberton, Ga. but lived in Augusta for the last 52 years. She was retired from Carol Fabrics after many years of service as a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and making ceramics. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie Elaine and William Shaw of Martinez; sons and daughters-in-law, William Alvin and Virginia Mills of Thomson, Ga., Larry Douglas Mills and Cheryl McNab of Augusta; grandchildren, Leslie and husband, Timothy Wise, Haley Mills; great-grandson, Jack Wise; sister, Belle Harrison of Elberton; brother, Walter "Bo" Evans of Elberton. She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Shaw.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lloyd Green officiating.

LINCOLNTON, Ga.- Mr. Paul Watson Prater, 58, of Lincolnton, died Wed. July 21 at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, Tenn.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 23 at 6 p.m. at Goshen Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Robert D. Adams officiating. Mr. Prater, a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, was a dairy nutritionist and cattle farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. Mr. Prater, a member of Goshen Baptist Church most of his life, was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. His father, Fred Robert Prater and his son, Cullars Reed Prater, preceded Mr. Prater in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alicia Reed Prater; daughter, Mrs. Hugh Alan (Elizabeth Prater) Arthur, Jr., Lincolnton; mother, Mrs. Frances Cullars Prater, Lincolnton; sister, Mrs. Kathryn Prater Robinson, Washington; brother, Page Robert Prater, Thomson; grandson, Hugh Alan Arthur III.

GROVETOWN, Ga.- Retired LTC Duane O. Ready, 78, husband of Doris Buffington Ready, of Grovetown entered into rest July 20, 2004 at University Hospital.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday July 23, 2004, in the Westview Cemetery, Thomson, Georgia, with full military honors.
Mr. Ready, a native of Franklin, Nebraska, was a retired Lt. Col. U.S. Army and had retired as Supervisor of Logistics Division with Civil Service at Fort Gordon, Ga. He served two tours of duty in Germany, two tours in Vietnam, and two tours in Korea. He was a graduate of Stromsburg High in Nebraska and had earned his bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. He was a member of the Officers Club and the Forest Hill Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Buffington Ready; three sons, James Ready, Junction City, Kansas, Duane Ready II and William Ready, of Savannah; two daughters, Patricia Waters , Junction City, Kansas and Debra Ready, Long Beach, California; two stepsons, Douglas Hallford, Dearing and Joey Hallford, Hephzibah; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter and one brother-in-law, Leon Buffington.

Mrs. Christine Ansley Friedmann
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Christine Ansley Friedmann, 96, of Spring Mount, Pa. and a resident of Thomson Manor entered into rest July 3, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gordon Crumpton officiating. Interment followed in the Camak Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry McCord, Kenneth Ansley, Carlton Norris, Charles Pate, Charles Paulos and Pete Hinnershitz.
Mrs. Friedmann, a native of Warren County and the daughter of the late Tom and Josie Ansley, had lived in Spring Mount, Pa. for many years. Before moving to Spring Mount, she lived in Upper Darby, Pa. She was a retired waitress, service 33 years at Collegeville Inn. She was a Baptist and baptized at Camak Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carol Ashley of Douglasville, Pa.; a son, George W. Kahmer, Jr. of Pennsauken, N.J.; a brother, Dr. James R. Ansley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

GIBSON, Ga.- Mrs. Louise Gregory Hadden, 85, loving wife of the late Woodrow 'Dig' Hadden, entered into rest Friday, July 9, 2004, at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Lamb officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hadden was a native of Jefferson County, but lived in Glascock County most of her life. She was a member of the Gibson Church of God, Gibson.
Mrs. Hadden was a devoted mother to her three sons, Lester Hadden and his wife, Barbara, Charles Hadden and his wife, Elizabeth, both of Gibson and Jerry Hadden, Sr., of Augusta; two sisters, Frances Coxville of Gibson and Ella Mae Guy of Augusta; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Lane Hadden, David Williams, Gregg Kelley, Bayne Kelley, Daniel Rodgers and Ryan Phillips.
Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson, was in charge of arrangements.
