Mr. James W. Larson
THOMSON, Ga- Mr. James W. Larson, 74, entered into rest Oct. 23, 2004, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Louviere Larson.
Memorial services were held at a later date.

Mr. Larson was born in Peoria, Ill. He was the son of the late Leroy Larson and the late Etta Carroll Larson. Mr. Larson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the Railroad System and served as a police officer with the New Orleans Police Department. He was also a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and lived in Thomson for over 10 years.

Mr. Sedric V. Pearson
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Sedric V. Pearson, 84, of 1729 Warrenton Hwy., Thomson, entered into rest Oct. 20, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Augusta. He was the beloved husband of Marie Boney Pearson.
A private memorial service was held at a later date.

Mr. Pearson was born in Rogers, Ark., and was the son of the late William Pearson and the late Ethel McLard Pearson. He served in the U.S.Army during World War II, was a POW for three years and released a year after the war was over. Mr. Pearson was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Boney Pearson, Thomson; two daughters, Lynn Butler, Thomson, and Kathy Brophy, Garner, N.C.; two brothers, Lowell Pearson, Katy, Texas, and Russell Pearson, California; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Betty H. Simons
Retired Insurance Agent
WARRENTON, Ga.- Mrs. Betty H. Simons, 72, beloved wife of Mr. Thad Simons Sr., died Saturday, October 30, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 1, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Sue Meehan and Robert Reese officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Simons was a native of Columbia County, but had lived most of her life in McDuffie and Warren County. She was a retired insurance agent and was a member of the Mesena United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Simons.

She is survived by her husband, Thad Simons Sr., Warrenton; her daughter, Brenda Austin, Reidsville, N.C.; her two sons, David Simons, Milledgeville and Thad Simons, Jr., St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Louise Reeves, Dearing, Jane Mather, Augusta and Frances Reid, Avera; three grandchildren, Kenneth Simons, Ellen Simons and Angela Austin.

Pallbearers were Junior Thompson, Curtis Smith, Kevin Wren, Steve Power, Allen Wood and Kevin Mather.

Mrs. Deborah Louella Chancellor

THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Deborah Louella Chancellor, 52, beloved Wife of Robert Chancellor died Monday, October 25, 2004, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating.

Pallbearers were Billy Elmore, David Lampp, John Bivins, Jamy Bullard, Jaye Jones, Chad Hadden.

Burial followed in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

A native of McDuffie county Mrs. Chancellor was a Paralegal with a Dallas Law firm for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church and a member and secretary of Woodman of the World Lodge 1401 in Thomson.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Gaynell Grant Lonergan and is survived by husband, Robert Alec Chancellor of Thomson; daughter, Evelyn Virginia (Jenny) Chancellor of Thomson; father, James W. Lonergan, of Appling; two sisters: Linda Volner of Harlem and Judy Bullard of Winfield; two brothers: Ralph Johnson of Harlem, and Ricky Lonergan of Appling, several nieces and nephews.

Deacon Charles Lee Fowler Sr.
WARRENTON, Ga.- Deacon Charles Lee Fowler Sr., of Warrenton, Ga., died Oct. 17.
Mr. Fowler was born October 24, 1950 to the late Mr. James Fowler, Sr. and Mrs. Lizzie Mae Johnson Fowler in Warren County. He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Lois Jackson on Dec. 26, 1971. To this union three children were added: Charle Lee Fowler, Jr. and Marcus Keith Fowler, and Michael Evans Fowler who preceded him in death.

Mr. Fowler attended Warren County High School. He attended Augusta Area Technical College and Savannah Technical College and earned degrees in Automotive Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years and completed his military career in the U.S. Army Reserve with 25 years in February 2004. He received the Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Armed Forces Services Ribbon. During his career, he worked with the Warren County Road and Public Works Department, Johnson Motor Co., Thomson, Pan American and managed the Fort Gordon Automotive Craft Shop. He ended the highlight of his career as a heavy mobile equipment repairman at Fort Gillem.

In addition to his wife, Mary Lois Jackson, children, Charles Lee Fowler, Jr., Marcus Keith Fowler and mother, he leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, James Fowler, Jr., Johnny B. Fowler (Gracie); four sisters, Charlene Delores Engram (Michael), Lizzie Ann Pounds (Tony), Gloria Brogsdale (Richard) and Janet F. Harris McNair (James); his mother-ion-law, Mary Frances Pitts; one brother-in-law, Alfred Jackson (Patricia); two sisters-in-law, Gladys Hill (Walter), Joyce Sheffield (Alvester); five grandchildren, Jasmine Dawson, Jamal Dawson, Jeremy Norris, Jamaia and Jaquavis Fowler; two godsons, Jonathan Ficklin and James Shivers; three aunts, Ms. Susie Williams, Ms. Roberta Fowler and Mrs. Alice Fowler; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and special friends.

Funeral services were held 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Strong officiating.

Crawford Pinkston Roberts Funeral Home was in charge.

Mr. Billy Greene
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Billy Greene, 71, beloved husband of Mrs. Faye Greene, died Thursday, October 21, 2004, in Columbia, S.C.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2004 in the Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Greene was a native of McDuffie County. He was retired from the Transportation Department of the McDuffie County Board of Education. He was retired from the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Leroy Sunday School Class. He was also a devoted R.A. leader for many years. He was preceded in death by his son, Rev. Rick Greene and his brother, Mr. Douglas Greene.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Greene, Thomson; his daughter, Kim Grant, Columbia, S.C.; his son, Nat Greene, Benton, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Greene Smith, Grayson, Ga.; a sister, Gwen Smith, Thomson; a brother, Marion (Jenna) Greene, Thomson; and two granddaughters, Kelly Greene and Courtney Greene, both of Grayson; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Michael Greene, Mark Greene, Doug Smith, Chad Smith, Otis Harrison, and Britt Hammond.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Thomson First Baptist Church Capital Campaign.

Mr. James Gibson Guillebeau
USAF MC Retired
TYLER, Tex.- A memorial service for Mr. James Gibson Guillebeau, M.D., Col. USAF MC (Ret.) 75, of Tyler, will be conducted at a future date.
Dr. Guillebeau passed away on October 18 in Tyler. Dr. Guillebeau was born on March 13, 1929, to James William and Elanor Jones Guillebeau in Thomson. He received his education and training from Thomson High School, the University of Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia and the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of WW II and the Vietnam Conflict and retired after 23 years of service, having served as pathologist and orthopedic surgeon until March 1976. He then practiced in Tyler until December 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann, by his sons, Kirk, Peter & Paul Guillebeau; brother, Ned Guillebeau; his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His lasting wishes are good will and peace among you destined for the future.

Mrs. Linda Gail Hurt
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mrs. Linda Gail Hurt, beloved wife of Mr. Tommy Hurt of Augusta and daughter of the late Joseph Sherman Wilson, entered into rest Thursday, October 21, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2004 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard Sanders officiating. The burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Additional survivors include her son, Clayton Hurt and his wife, Sherrie of Anchorage, Alaska; her daughter, Jennifer Lynne Hurt and her fiance, Chris Williams of Augusta; two brothers, Carlton Purks, Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Tommy Wilson of Thomson; two sisters, Ollie W. Tolbert and her husband, Cecil, of Dublin, Ga. and Sarah Parks of Gracewood, Ga.; one grandchild, Tiston Hurt of Anchorage, Alaska, and a very special nephew, Chuck Musgrove and his special friend, Nancy Greer.

A native of Augusta, Mrs. Hurt was a devoted wife and mother. She retired after 13 years of service with Ramada Plaza and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Rd., Augusta, Ga. 30904.

Pallbearers were Chris Williams, Joe Musgrove, Trey Morris, Allen Hurt and Pete Williams.

Mr. John F. Ricketson, Jr.
AVERA, Ga.- Mr. John F. Ricketson, Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at his residence after a bout with lung cancer.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel of James Funeral Home in Wrens with interment following at 2:30 p.m., in the Warrenton City Cemetery. The Rev. Marvin Goodman officiated.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Walden's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1760 Walden Church Rd. Avera, GA 30803 or to St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Rd. Augusta, GA 30904.

Mr. Ricketson was born October 21, 1926 in Warrenton, the only child of Alma (Darden) and John F. Ricketson, Sr. He attended Warrenton High School, Georgia Military College, and The University of Georgia. He was most proud of his service to his country in the South Pacific Theater as a naval artillery fire controller on the light cruiser USS Oklahoma City during WW II. A natural born salesman, he sold directory advertising for Southern Bell until 1967 when he founded the first of three flourishing businesses in Macon. In 1976, he became associated with Hearthstone Log Homes and for many years was the most successful Distributor in the nation. After retiring, he lived in Warrenton and Avera. He was a member of the Warrenton American Legion and the VFW in Thomson. He sang for many years in the choir at Cross Keys UMC in Macon. A trustee of Walden's United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. An avid sportsman, he taught his boys to hunt, to fish, and to love the outdoors and all of the natural gifts the Lord gave us. He taught his daughter the love of song and music. Having a wonderful tenor voice, he sang at countless weddings and funerals over the years.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia F. Ricketson; children, John F. (Deana) Ricketson, III of Macon, Jack D. Ricketson, and Laurie R. (Harry) Faircloth, of Juliette; stepchildren, Mikel (Caren) Skinner of Avera, Cindy (Junie) Greene of Jackson, S.C., Kelly (Tammie) McNeely of Sandersville, and Sam (Donna) McNeely of Thomson; grandchildren, Capt. Theodore (Ruth) Roberts of Nellis AFB NV, Anna Hayden of Gray, Brian Ricketson, and Aubriann Ricketson of Juliette; seven great-grandchildren and 16 step-grandchildren.

Mr. Lenzie Leron "Ronnie" Sinkfield
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Lenzie Leron "Ronnie" Sinkfield of Thomson, entered into rest October 17, 2004.
Mr. Sinkfield, a native of McDuffie County, was born April 11, 1950, to the late Mr. Robert Sinkfield, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ida Florence Archer Sinkfield. At an early age he joined Springfield Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Cynthia (Dennis) Burley of Thomson, Rotonda (Fiance, Eugene Alls) Sinkfield of Atlanta, Octavia Brown of Augusta; two sons, Dean Winfrey, Thomson, Manuel Brown, Harlem; four sisters, Joyce (Charles) Brinkley, Carolyn (Daniel) Brown of Thomson, Kim (Milton) Sharpe of Marietta, Deborah Sinkfield of Atlanta; three brothers, Robert (Christine) Sinkfield Jr., Danny Sinkfield, Charles Sinkfield, all of Thomson.

Services were held October 21, 2004 at Springfield Baptist Church, with Rev. F.D. Favors officiating. Internment was in the family cemetery.
