Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2004 at St. Luke Baptist Church with Rev. S. T. Thompkins officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Genetta Hines, Lincolnton; a son, Tracy Hines (Jacquelyn) Washington; a daughter, Gloria Hines, Lincolnton; fie brothers, David Hines (Edity), Thomson, Ralph Hines, Macon, Sidney Cullars (Marie), Washington, Bennie Hines (Barbara), Mt. Dora, Fla., Larry Hines (Mary), Orlando, Fla., four sisters, Elaine Brown, Thomson, Elizabeth Bird, Zellwood, Fla., Pearl Miller (John), Far Rockaway, N.Y., Sylvia Ross, Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Jennie Louise D'Antignac
DEARING, Ga.- The funeral for Mrs. Jennie Louise D'Antignac, 70, of Dearing, was held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Piney Grove Baptist Church, Dearing, Ga. Rev. Mark Downs, Pastor, officiating, interment was in the Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery, Harlem, Ga.
Survivors are two daughters, Mary (Marvin) Sanders, Dearing, And Paulette (Johnny) Rolland of Harlem, Ga.; three sons, Ronald (Martha) Hampton, Harlem, Ga., Donald (Lizzie) Hampton, Augusta, Ga., Jessie (Denise) D'Antignac, Martinez, Ga.; one stepson, Charles (Joann) D'Antignac, Martinez, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Brenda (Crawford) Tanksley, Harlem; two brothers John (Albenia ) West, Jr., Augusta, Willie (Ophelia) West, Augusta; one sister, Mary Davis, Hephzibah, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Kendrick
WARRENTON, Ga.- Mr. James Kendrick of Warrenton, answered God's call to eternal rest on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the University Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at William Grove Baptist Church, Warrenton, Ga. with Rev. Leroy Hudson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kendrick was a member of William Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Usher Board. He was educated in the Glascock County School System. He began employment with JEBCO and later owned and operated Kendrick Q in Warrenton.

His cherished memories shall always linger in the hearts of his wife, Trisha Kendrick, two sons, James Kendrick and Jason Kendrick; three sisters, Ella Barnes, Sparta, Mary Bell and Marion Harris, Warrenton; four brothers, Clarence Grier, Lakeland, Fla., Eddie Kendrick, Thomson, Jerry Ivey and Alexander Ivey of Mitchell.

Dawson's Mortuary was in charge of services.

Mr. Carl Michael 'Mike' Lanier
Musician/Composer
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mr. Carl Michael "Mike" Lanier, age 49, of Augusta, entered into rest on Thursday evening, November 11, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area, living for many years in Grovetown. Mike was currently working as a Steam Plant Operator at Gracewood State School and Hospital. He was an accomplished musician and composer who will be remembered for his natural talents to perform in many capacities including lead guitar, backup and keyboards. He had performed and recorded with many area groups and enjoyed sitting in wherever and whenever needed. He had attended the Fort Creek Baptist Church and various area churches. He was a U.S. Naval Veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He is preceded in death by: his father, Mr. Jimmy Lanier, who passed away in 1994.

He is survived by: his mother, Doris Blackwell and her husband, Jimmy, Augusta; five children, Clay Lanier, Columbia, S.C., Daniel Lanier, San Diego, Ca., Aaron Lanier, Meghan Lanier, Lydia Lanier, all of Dearing; one brother, Monte Lanier and his wife Jane, Aurora, Col.; one sister, Martha Gunn and her husband, Edwin, Dearing; two grandchildren, Julian and Alexis Lanier; an aunt, Joyce Jaksch, Augusta and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 am, Monday, November 15, 2004, from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home in Martinez with Dr. C. Don Manning, officiating. Interment followed in Bellevue Memorial Gardens in Grovetown.

Pallbearers were Lee Hawkins, Jerry Bullard, Dennis Bullard, Ellis Miller, Roy Wireman and Ricky Culpepper.

Mr. Ernest (Jank) Morris
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Ernest Morris, 91, of Thomson, entered into rest on Nov. 5, 2004, at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m. at Whiteoak Grove Baptist Church, Thomson, with Rev. Johnny Few officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Morris was born on April 15, 1913 in McDuffie County to the late Mr. Will and Mrs. Hattie Williams Morris. He was married to the late Arlene Morris. He was a member of Whiteoak Grove Baptist Church. He was a carpenter and farmer and lived his entire life in Thomson.

Survivors include a son, Augustus Morris Sr., Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Addie Sue Stephens, Albany, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Ola Morris, Thomson; four grandchildren, Augustus Morris Jr., Catherine Ann Morris, Linda Marie Morris and Michael Steven Morris, all of Dayton, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, all of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Michael B. Pyle
BOSTON, Mass.- Entered into rest November 10, 2004 at the Jordan Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Michael B. Pyle, 51, of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Services were held Monday, November 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Starling Funeral Home in Harlem with the Reverend Matt Judd and Melissa Weathers officiating. Interment was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta.

Mr. Pyle was a native of El Paso, Texas and a Navy Veteran. He was a computer Operator and Region Manager in Plymouth, Massachusetts with Entergy Company.

Survivors include three sisters, Benita E. Pyle, Thomson, Pat McCullough, Harlem, Donna K. Pyle, Grovetown; and a nephew, B. McCullough of Harlem; also Michelle Shelby, devoted friend of Abbyville, Ma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, Georgia 30384-9410.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Perline Jones Ramsey
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Perline Jones Ramsey entered into rest on Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Lake Crossing Nursing Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Ethel Garnett, Dearing; a son, Clinton Ramsey, Winfield.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ramsey were held Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at Simonia Baptist Church, Grovetown, with the Rev. Ernest Turner, officiating.

Mr. Claude Edward Rhodes
Retired iron worker
LINCOLNTON, Ga.- Mr. Claude Edward Rhodes, 70, of Double Branches Rd. died Wednesday, November 3 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 5 at 3 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Ficklen Guin officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rhodes, a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, was the son of the late John W. and Eula Walker Rhodes. He was retired from the Iron Workers 709. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Kay Rhodes, Wade and Karen Rhodes, all of Lincolnton, Kelly Rhodes, Athens; long time friend, Cecile Quarles, Lincolnton; grandsons, Chase, Logan, and Hunter Rhodes; brothers, Bobby Rhodes, Augusta, Cecil Rhodes, Augusta; sister, Ellender Rhodes Brown, Augusta.

Mr. Lawrence Daniel Ruley, Sr.
STAPLETON, Ga.- Mr. Lawrence Daniel Ruley, Sr., 74, entered into rest Friday, November 5, 2004 at his residence.
Memorial services were held Sunday, November 7, 2004 at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home.

Ruley was retired from the U.S. Army. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all.

Ruley is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Charlotte Ruley; two sons, Lawrence Ruley, Jr., and William Dan Ruley, Fredericksburg, Va.; five daughters, Aleta Ruley, Norwich, N.Y.; Laura McTier, Thomson; Debbie Haywood, Warrenton; Cindy Holland, Lakeland, Fla.; and Teresa Purcell, Warrenton; 15 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Portsbridge Hospice, 1227 Augusta West Parkway, Augusta, Ga. 30909 or the Georgia Sheriffs Childrens Home, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, Ga. 30281.

James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. John K. "Steve" Stevenson, Sr.
BEECH ISLAND, S.C.- Funeral services for Mr. John K. "Steve" Stevenson, Sr., 83, of Beech Island, S.C., who died November 7, 2004, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 a.m. from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Dr. Paul B. Fowler officiating. Interment was in Westview cemetery in Thomson with Military Honors. Masonic Rites were conducted at the graveside by the Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 AFM.
Mr. Stevenson was a native of Durham, North Carolina having made Beech Island his home for the past 50 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, a US Navy Veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Stevenson attended Duke University and was retired from E. I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 AFM where he was Past Master and a 32nd Degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Hall Stevenson; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Terry Stevenson, Jr., Evans; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Thomas Bates, North Augusta and Sara and Dean Lanier, Augusta; five grandchildren, Nick Gavalas, Margaret Baumer, Sara Leslie Youngblood, Adam Youngblood and Anne-Marie Stevenson; four great-grandchildren.

Honorary and Active Pallbearers were members of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 AFM.

Mrs. Mary Jane Winfrey Story
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Mary Jane Winfrey Story, of Thomson, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Story, 108, was the mother of six generations. Survivors include daughters Emmie Lucielle Wright, Marie S. Walker, son James E. Story, son-in-law J. T. Williams, all of Thomson and daughter-in-law Ruby Story, of Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Story is also survived by a host of 36 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren, 95 great great grandchildren, four great great great grandhildren, relatives and friends.

Homegoing services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Lithonia Baptist Church, Camak, Ga. officiated by Reverend William Evans.

Mrs. Lena Thomas
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Lena Thomas,85, of Thomson, died Monday in North Carolina.
Mrs. Thomas was a McDuffie County native, a retired teacher with the McDuffie County School System and a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.

Survivors are one son, Agar Thomas (Michelle) of North Carolina; daughter, Vera Thomas, Thomson; goddaughter, Debra Thomas Stephens and granddaughter, Shelia Butler, both of Thomson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson. Rev. F. D. Favors, Pastor, officiating. Funeral services were in North Carolina on Su

Mrs. Idelle Sheppard Chalker
GIBSON, Ga.- Mrs. Idelle Sheppard Chalker, 94, of Gibson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Gibson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Griffin Thompson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Idelle was a lifelong resident of Glascock County, she was an active member of the Gibson United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist until this past year. She worked many years in the garment industry and several years at the Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Clark of Hiawassee; a son, Jacky Ray Chalker of Gibson; seven grandchildren, Mike Clark, Madonna Pittard, Lisa Warren, Patricia White, Kelly Chamlee, Douglas Chalker and Jennifer Gay and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Idelle was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Chalker and two sons, Jerome and Jimmy Chalker.

Pallbearers were great-grandsons. The family ill receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Glascock County Concerned Citizens, in care of Mrs. Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Rd., Gibson, Ga. 20810.

Master Sgt. Raymond Barnard Engelke

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Master Sgt. Raymond Barnard Engelke, US Army Retired, entered into rest Monday, November 8, 2004 at the residence.
Family members include his wife, Mary Scee Engelke of Watertown, N.Y.; sons, Ronald and Joan Engelke of Naples, Fla., Vincent and Peggy Engelke of Evans, James Engelke, Thomson, the late Stephen Douglas Engelke and daughter-in-law, Lynne Engelke; daughters, Mary Coultas of Thomson, Ellen and James Kiser of Paris, Ky., Martha and Robert Lappe of Martinez; sisters, Diann Carlisle of Alabama; grandchildren, Thomas Engelke, Scott Engelke, Nathan Lappe, Donald Hensley, Cherie Bohler, Dorothy Brandon, Sarah Lappe, Ginger Dean , Rachel Lappe, Naomi Lappe, Paul Engelke; step children, Donna Gardner, Trudy Scee, Juanita Washer, Ronald Scee.

Mr. Engelke was a native of Joliet, Ill., but had lived in Augusta since 1957. He retired from the US Army after 28 years of military service in the Signal Corps. He was stationed in Panama, Germany and twice in Korea. Mr. Engelke wanted everyone to know that he liked Kimchee. He survived three plane crashes, one with a former Attorney General of the United States. He was a military pilot also, but lost his wings as a result of flying under the Sault St. Marie Bridge. He attended the Lakemont Presbyterian Church Men's Group and wanted the group to know that he "wished them well."

Funeral services were held Friday, November 12, 2004 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Jack Jagoditsch officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.
