John Harvill
Mr. John Harvill, age 52, of McDonough, Georgia died June 30, 2008. Mr. Harvill was born
in Montgomery, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Virginia Harvill and sister, Diane Harvill.
Survivors include his son, John Harvill of Locust Grove; father, Johnnie Harvill; sister, Betty Abercrombie; nephew, Chris Abercrombie; and niece, Jessica Abercrombie, all of McDonough.
Services were held July 8 at Avalon Church with Rev. Clarence Craven officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Abelardo Montejo
Mr. Abelardo Montejo, age 51, of McDonough, Georgia died June 30, 2008. He was born
in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Mr. Montejo was a member of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church. He was a Corrections Officer for the past year and was also an internationally known dog trainer for over 30 years. He had a great love and a great passion for working with dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Vilma M.(Gomez) Montejo; daughters, Erica Montejo and Monica Montejo, all of McDonough; and parents, Angel and Gladys (Iglesias) Montejo of Miami, Florida.
Services were held July 3 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Jose Kochuparampil officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Patti Lunsford
Mrs. Patti Lunsford, age 59, of McDonough, Georgia died July 1, 2008. Patti was born
in Henry County to Nellie Patrick Thomp-son and the late Jerrell Leverne Thompson. Patti was employed with Henry Medical Center for 29 years and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Chad Lunsford.
Survivors include her husband of almost 30 years, Russell Lunsford of McDonough; children, Terry Lunsford of Stockbridge, Rhonda (G.W.) Wright of McDonough, Stacy
(Tina) Lunsford of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Amber and Justin Lunsford of Sparta, Kimber and Elizabeth Lunsford of Concord, Stacey Michelle Wright of McDonough, Katy, Cody, and Jon Lunsford of Locust Grove; great granddaughter, Anita Lucas of McDonough; mother, Nellie Thompson of McDonough; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 4 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Preston Bridges and Chaplain Steve Austin officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Patti. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Chris Jones
Chris Jones, age 45, of McDonough, Georgia died July 2, 2008. He was born
in Waynesville, North Carolina to the late Marvin Eugene and Judith Carlene Conner Jones. He was a member of Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church. Mr. Jones, a 1981graduate of Briarcliff High School in Atlanta, was quarterback and captain of his high school football team and received a college scholarship to play football for Jacksonville State College in Alabama. He and his Dad started a trucking business after college and he worked in the furniture industry for many years as a sales representative. Chris met and began dating Sheryl in 1984 and they were married
in 1991. In 1995 they moved to McDonough so Sheryl could start her medical practice and their family. They have two sons, Christopher, born
in 1995, and Connor, born
in 1997. In 2002 he opened The Culinary Doctor (a corporate catering enterprise) and the Family Restaurant and Grill in Jonesboro. He then opened The Southern Skillet (a family style restaurant) located on Hudson Bridge Road in 2004 and The Magnolia House (special events facility) on Jodeco Road in 2006. Chris loved history and would debate politics all day long. (He will probably be on Heaven’s version of “Meet The Press” with Tim Russert). He was the ultimate salesman and storyteller and excelled in sports. Chris loved golf, baseball, football and second only to his family, boating. He was always the life of the party and a friend to everyone. He was a dedicated family man and loved being a father. Above everything, his wife and children meant more to him than life itself.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Sheryl Simpson-Jones of McDonough; sons, Christopher Daniel Jones and Connor Thomas Jones, both of McDonough; sisters, Elena Saucier of Dacula, Kelly Jones of Lawrenceville, and Julie Jones Phillips of Santa Monica, California.
Services were held July 7 at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Dowdy officiating. John Earnest Matthews
John Earnest Matthews, age 86, of Stockbridge, Georgia died July 3, 2008. He was born
in Villa Rica to the late Fred Alvin and Fanny Clotile Tolbert Matthews. Mr. Matthews served in the U.S. Marine Corp in WWII. He retired from Atlanta Gas Light Company in 1988. Mr. Matthews was also preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Carter Matthews, daughter, Carol Lorraine Heard, and brothers, Billy Matthews, James Edgar Matthews and Kenny Boy Matthews.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda Gail Blair of Jackson and Gloria Ann Richardson of Stockbridge; six grandchildren, Allen Heard, Susan Hamm, Ricky Thompson, Becky Gray, John Heard and Lisa Cannon; ten great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Gwostz of Gwinnett County; brothers, Gene Matthews of Loganville, and Larry Matthews of Fulton County; and several nieces and nephews.

Harry Leslie Nutter
Mr. Harry Leslie Nutter, IV, age 19, died July 4, 2008. Harry was a graduate of Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy where he excelled as an athlete in baseball. He attended Reinhardt College in Waleska, Georgia and was a rising sophomore. He was the starting shortstop for his college baseball team and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Harry is survived by his parents, Harry and Sue Nutter of Jonesboro; sisters, Heather (Rodney) Workman of Charlotte, North Carolina and Rachel Nutter of Jonesboro; grandparents, Jack and Louise Chaney of Ravenswood, West Virginia; nieces and nephews, Kylee, Ethan, and Anna Greer, Suzie and Samuel Carter; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ellen Wood Dubson
Mrs. Ellen Wood Dubson, age 65, of Hampton, Georgia died July 7, 2008. She was born
in Richmond County to the late Charles Cecil Wood. She was a charter member of Valley Hill Baptist Church and a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. She retired after 30 years with Valley Hill Baptist Church and the Atlanta Association of Southern Baptist Churches. Ellen enjoyed crafts, quilting, and cooking. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her step father, Leonard Swearingen.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Richard Dubson of Hampton; mother, Elizabeth Swearingen of Augusta; daughters, Suzanne Gamel of Griffin, Barbie (Jeff) Hedges of McDonough; grandchildren, Matt, Kristen, Jordan, and Blake Gamel, Amanda and Brandon Griggs; great grandson, Bowen Adams; brothers, Charles (Linda) Wood of Evans, Robert (Jan) Swearingen of Augusta, Jimmy (Debbie) Swearingen of Augusta; step-children, Rosemary Brown of Ft. White, Florida and Jerry Swearingen of Augusta.
