Greg Garner of Covington, passed away September 19, 2007 in Covington. Born July 7, 1962 to Jean Bowen Garner and the late Rev. Guy Garner, he was the owner and operator of East Metro Tire Service for 32 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was involved in charity motorcycle rides as well as the March of Dimes. He had a food ministry which supplied food to people in need. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Guy Garner, brother, Jamie Garner, and sister Elizabeth Jane Garner.
Mr. Garner is survived by daughters, Terri Garner of Covington, Kimberly Garner of Newborn, Courtney Garner of Conyers, Autumn Garner of Social Circle; grandchildren, Chastity Garner, C.J. Cobb, Jada Reed; mother, Jean B. Garner of Covington; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Jody Drake of Covington; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Christi Garner of Marietta; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Garner will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Pastor Gavin Moon officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Willie B. Stapp
Willie B. Stapp, of Mansfield, died peacefully at his home October 5, 2007, at the age of 42. Mr. Stapp was employed with the City of Mansfield and attended The Church at Covington. He loved working in the yard, model cars, fishing, working on lawnmowers and anything that pertained to the outdoors. Mr. Stapp was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Johnson Stapp.

Charles "Dick" Schwinne
Charles Dick Schwinne, of Covington, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the age of 76. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Schwinne was preceded in death by parents, Charles Albert and Mary Minerva Wiener Schwinne, and wife, Angela Mary Parrish Schwinne. Mr. Schwinne was retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service and from the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary after 11 years of service. Mr. Schwinne enjoyed traveling, meeting people, loved Ohio State, and following the Atlanta Braves. Most important, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
Mr. Schwinne is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Larry Newkam of Suwanee, Susan and Mark Zielenske of Covington; son, Paul Schwinne of Peachtree City; six grandchildren, Melissa, Kevin, Lisa, Michael, Allison and Megan; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Neva Schwinne of Stone Mountain; best friend and soul mate, Katherine Pickett; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary L. Martin, 42, of Oxford, died May 7, 2009. Son of the late Eddie Michael and Mary Marie Swyers Martin, he enjoyed watching wrestling, and being with his friends in the band, “The Ultimate Addiction”. His passion was Harley Davidson motorcycles, working on cars, and his Rottweiler dogs. Most important to him was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Robyn Martin; daughters and son-in-law, Tabitha Fuller of Covington, Amber and Rusty Wyrick of Jackson, KY, Jenna Martin of Oxford; grandchildren, Brooke Burden, Sylar Burden, Nycolas Fuller; sisters, Debbie, Beverly, Shirley, all of MO; brothers, Terry, Eddie, Richard, Donnie, Art, Gene, and Billy.

Mrs. Kimberly Lynn Hood, of Covington, passed away May 9, 2009 at the age of 41. She was a graduate of University of Central Florida and a FFA Alumni. Mrs. Hood enjoyed skating, was an avid reader and loved her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Pamela Mann.
Mrs. Hood is survived by her husband, Jack Hood, Jr. of Covington.; sons, Drew Hood, Kyle Hood, Adam Hood all of Covington; step-father, Gene Morris; sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvette and Mike Wilson, Missy and Bryan Jacobs, Heather Collins and Frank Lott; brother, John Morris; grandmothers, Paula J. Mann and Dorothy B. King all of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Hood will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009, 3:00 P. M. at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA. M. Grace Grantham, of Covington, died May 15, 2009, at Abbey Hospice, at the age of 66. Daughter of the late Junior Elmer Mosher and Margaret Gillespie Henderson, she enjoyed shopping, gardening and crocheting. Mrs. Grantham was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Clara McCurdy Dennis, 97, of Fort Payne, Ala., died Dec. 23 in Crossville, Ala. She was a member of the Hawkins Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents Blaine and Julie Rebecca Lacy McCurdy; husband Floyd C. Dennis; son Bill Dennis; daughter Dora Estill; brothers Joe, Mack and Brown McCurdy, Lee Wilburn; and sister Betty Day. Survivors include son Lanor Dennis, Henagar, Ala.; sisters Mildred Hulgan, Fort Payne, Ala., Jean Stephens, Valley Head, Ala.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Jimmy Price, Wildwood; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Diane Foster, Wildwood; son-in-law Tommy Lowery, Wildwood; sisters Betty Carter and Evelyn Miller, both of Trenton; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with minister Frank Parker and Wayne Miller and Lamar Hulvey officiating. Interment was in Hooker Cemetery. Charles Edward Gilley, 60, died Dec. 24 in Nashville V.A. Hospital. He operated an auto body shop in Trenton for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany. He was preceded in death by parents Jim and Hazel Gilley and brother Bennie Gilley. Survivors include brothers Jimmy Gilley, Jacksonville, Fla., Glenn Gilley, Rising Fawn and George Gilley, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
