Mr. Geoffrey Earl Ward, age 40, of McDonough, Georgia died Wednesday, July 16, 2008. He was born
in San Pedro, California to James Earl and Jacqelyn Marva Fielder Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Stacey Diane (Stroud) Ward of McDonough; his parents, James and Jacqelyn Ward; and sister, Jocelyn Richardson, all of Compton, California.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Harrison-Ross Funeral Home in Compton, California with Rev. Charles Ward officiating. Interment Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Miles Gary LaPoint
Mr. Miles Gary LaPoint, age 56, of Conyers, Georgia died July 19, 2008. Mr. LaPoint was born
in Plattsburgh, New York, the son of the late Edith Pauline LaFave and Donald Frank LaPoint. Mr. LaPoint loved his family, enjoyed playing the guitar, TV Westerns, Louie Lamour books, guns, trains, and Dairy Queen. He served his country in the US Navy, was a member of the Henry County Moose Lodge and worked as a technician for IBM. A sister, Jane Dutcher, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth LaPoint of Conyers; children, Michelle Doyal (Kenneth) of McDonough and David Miles LaPoint (Kimberly) of Covington; grandchildren, Sean Farkas and Leah Michelle LaPoint; sister, Cynthia Kline of Pennsylvania : several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held July 23 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Alvie Rodgers officiating. Interment Georgia National Cemetery
in Canton. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mai Rose Harper
Mai Rose Harper, age 77, of Stockbridge, Georgia died July 20, 2008. She was born
in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to the late Melvin Oline and Catherine Louise Mathias Bowers. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and former member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church, Conyers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Harper, son, Michael L. Harper and sister, Louise Zuehlke.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her daughter, Teresa Sorrells, Lawrenceville; sisters, Frances Collins, Portland, Tennessee, Alberta Groves, Covington, Brenda Halberg, Cocoa Beach, Florida, Vickie Jenkins, Covington; and three grandchildren.
Services were held July 23 from the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Rick Statham officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Melvin Kidd
Mr. Melvin Kidd, age 70, of Stockbridge, Georgia died July 8, 2008. He was born
in Atlanta to the late Louie Calhoun and Edith Elizabeth Williams Kidd. Mr. Kidd served in the US Army and was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Kidd is survived by his wife, Nicole Kidd of Stockbridge; children, Joanne (Tony) Witzl of Stockbridge, Beatrice (Jeff) Willett of Kennesaw, Ronald Kidd of Stockbridge, Alan (Cynthia) Kidd of Stockbridge, Steven (Terri) Kidd of McDonough; and 13 grandchildren.

Nannie Ruth Ferrell Petty
Mrs. Nannie Ruth Ferrell Petty, age 86, of Stockbridge, Georgia died July 8, 2008. Mrs. Petty was born
in Troup County, the daughter of the late Roxie Robertson and Ben Hill Ferrell. Mrs. Petty was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing and talking politics. Her husband Walter Boothe Petty and several siblings preceded her in death.
Survivors include children, Carol Kinney (Ben) of McDonough, Pat Sponable (Dave) of McDonough and Mike Petty of Johnson City, Tennessee; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Turner of LaGrange; brothers, Milton Ferrell of McDonough, Lawrence Ferrell of Carrollton and Ben Ferrell of California; several nieces and nephews.

Eduardo Ferrer
Mr. Eduardo Ferrer, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia died July 9, 2008. Mr. Ferrer was born
in Zambales, Philippines, the son of the late Petra Carpio and Benito Ferrer. He was a member of Eagles Landing Baptist Church, retired from the US Navy with 20
plus years of service, retired as an executive chef, enjoyed his family, church, fishing, cooking and ice carving.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys (Nancy) Ferrer of McDonough; children, John Ferrer (Katey) of MacClenny, Florida, Michael Ferrer (Trish) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Steven Ferrer (Leigh Ann) of McDonough, Jeff Ferrer (Leslie) of Knoxville, Tennessee; Corazon Cowart (Carl) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, two brothers from the Philippines; several nieces and nephews.

Nancy Mathews Wilson
Mrs. Nancy Mathews Wilson, age 54, of Hampton, Georgia died July 9, 2008. Nancy was born
in Floyd County, the daughter of the late Mary Walker and Robert Shivers Mathews. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, stock cars, her Mustang, was an avid Georgia Tech fan, and a member of the Henry County Women of the Moose. Nancy was preceded in death by her cat, Waldo.
Survivors include her husband Willard Lee Wilson Jr., of Hampton; sons and daughters-in-law, Shannon L. and Shannon Wilson of McDonough, Brent L. and Margaret Wilson of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Brianna, Shanna, Hayden Wilson, Cole Beaber, Kylin Wilson and Jaclyn Wilson; brother, Robert S. Mathews of Covington.
Services were held July 12 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Mike McCoy officiating. Interment Sallie Hill Cemetery
