Charles Erath, Jr.

Mr. Charles G. Erath, Jr. Mr. Charles G. Erath, Jr., formerly of New Orleans, LA, and more recently residing in Newnan, GA died on Thursday, February 7. There will be a funeral mass for Mr. Erath on Monday, February 11 at 11:00 AM at St. George Catholic Church in Newnan. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street on Monday morning between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. A memorial service in New Orleans for family and friends there will be announced later. Mr. Erath will be interred in Greenwood cemetery in New Orleans. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a contribution be made to Countryside Hospice 37 Calumet Parkway Suite G202 Newnan, GA 30263. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Yvonne Sicard Erath; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Lesa of Newnan and Michael and Carolyn of Abilene, TX; grandchildren Amanda, Chas and Michael; brother, Harold; and, sisters, Bertha Lightell and Patricia Sagnibene. Charles was born on August 23, 1922, the oldest of seven children, in New Orleans. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans where he played on the school football team. He enlisted and served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He attended Loyola University of the South where he studied business administration and built a career in the cotton and soybean processing industry. He ultimately held and retired from an executive position with ConAgra Foods where he was responsible for the distribution and sale of agricultural commodities. He was an active member at St. Gabriel the Archangel and at St. James Major Catholic churches in New Orleans. Charles and Yvonne moved from New Orleans to Newnan after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and while in Newnan have been members of St. George. McKoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson Street Newnan, Georgia 30263.

Jerry Ogan
9/27/1937 - 2/2/2008

Jerry Dee Ogan was born on September 27, 1937 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and passed away unexpectedly at Piedmont Newnan Hospital on February 2, 2008. He is the only child of the late Walter Dee and Nola Painter Ogan. Jerry met and fell in love with his best friend Shirlene. They married on June 30, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had the privilege of traveling to many places within the states and overseas. Jerry is a 1960 graduate of The University of Tulsa with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. He later completed his M.A. in Practical Ministry in 2005. He was employed by Aramark as the Director of Facilities for Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was a member of many professional organizations. Jerry was an amateur photographer. He enjoyed hunting and sports, particularly golf. He enjoyed playing the Tenor Saxophone. He was active in his church community with teaching Adult Sunday School and, on occasion, the Sunday sermon. He wrote and published three books: Eternity—Where?, God Wants You, and Amazing Jesus. His most important accomplishment in life was to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Jerry is survived by his sweetheart, Donna Shirlene Hardin Ogan; his son, Kevin Dee (Jennifer Taylor) Ogan; and his daughter Kathlene Kryn Ogan (Royce) Qualls. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Jacob Dee Ogan, Allison Collene Qualls, and Reese Barrett Qualls. Jerry’s desire was for others to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the missionary fund at Grace Community Fellowship, 75 Roscoe Road, Newnan, Georgia 30263. A Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Greene officiating. Shirley Stigall Dudley, 77, of Newnan died Saturday, February 02, 2008 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. She was born February 14, 1930 in Louisville, KY to the late Charles & Grace Ranser Stigall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Doris Stigall Walker and brother, Paul Rasner Stigall. The memorial service is Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Newnan Presbyterian Church with Dr. Harry Barrow & Rev. Meg Jackson Clark officiating. Edith Jones Lowery, 82, died peacefully at her home in Senoia, GA on Friday, February 1, 2008. She was born February 4, 1925 in Chambers County, AL to the late Herbert & Lilly Barber Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James F. Jones & Guy Jones; sister, Mildred Jones Saxon. Edith loved children and her many pursuits benefited them. She was a children’s Sunday School teacher,a member of Senoia United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Senoia Library Board. Kirby Holt

Mrs. Kirby Cora Holt of Forest Park, Georgia, died at Southern Regional Medical Center on January 29, 2008. She was born in Potosi in Wayne County Missouri and was the daughter of the late Freeman and Bernice Lawson Ramsey. She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Holt. Surviving Mrs. Holt is her daughter, Brenda Cureton of Moreland, Georgia; her grandchildren, Glenda Kittles and Sandy Waddell. Her great grandchildren are Kayla Shannon, Kelci Kittles and Jacob Woodruff. Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan where the funeral service for Mrs. Holt will be on Thursday evening January 31, 2008 at 7:00 PM with Reverend Frank Eldred officiating. James Hardy

James David “Dave” Hardy, 59, died Monday, January 28, 2008 peacefully at his home in Newnan. He was born January 2, 1949 in Johnson City, TN to the late James S. Hardy & Charlotte Emma Phillips Hardy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Elizabeth Hardy. Dave was the Service Manager at Mike Fitzpatrick Ford Lincoln Mercury in Newnan for over 10 years. He was a mentor who exhibited a kind, quiet guidance to his coworkers, friends, and family. Leading by example was a trait that he didn’t preach but lived by. The funeral is Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Griffith officiating. Sara Craven

Mrs. Lurline Owen Craven, age 81, of Newnan died on January 27, 2008 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mrs. Craven was born November 21, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Solon Young and Sara Frances Carden Windom. She also was preceded in death by Lester Eugene Owen. Mrs. Craven was well-known to her customers and friends through her association with The Belk Company in LaGrange where she retired after being a faithful employee for many years. Mrs. Craven is survived by her husband, Walter Lee Craven; her children, Delores O. Glore and her husband Ronald of Tallapoosa, GA, Harvey L. Owens of Woodland, Al, JoAnn Robinson and her husband Bill of LaGrange, GA. She was the proud grandmother of seven and great grandmother to 9. Also surviving are her brothers J. E. Windom and his wife Sue and Jerry Windom and his wife Willie, all of Newnan. Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street where the funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Reverend David Craven and Reverend Alton Stamey officiating. Interment will be in Southview cemetery in Moreland.
