HARLEM -- Mrs. Evie Louise Smith, 85, of 1647 Hinton-Wilson Road, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Mausoleum with the Rev. John A. Christmas officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Johnson County, was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Jackie Smith, Harlem; one daughter, June Vik, Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Fred Brantley, Aiken; two sisters, Mary Hudson and Peggy Gaulke, both of Augusta; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Belair Road.

Mr. James Reeves

Announcement dated June 25, 1998

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mr. James Wesley Reeves, 66, of 805 Halcyondale Road, died Monday, June 22, 1998, at Sylview Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spring Head United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Reeves, a native of Screven County, was a member of Spring Head United Methodist Church where he served on the Usher Board and was a member of the junior and senior choirs.

Survivors include two brothers, Willie V. Reeves, Milwaukee, Wis. and Clarence Reeves, Fort Lawn, S.C.; two sisters, Daisy L. Burns, Savannah, and Martha Benton-Zeigler, Sylvania.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Leo Zeigler's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jack Rayner

Retired pipe fitter

BLACKVILLE, S.C. -- Mr. Jack Holloway Rayner, 77, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, in Barnwell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mole Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Mew officiating. Burial will be in Barnwell County Memory Gardens cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Rayner, a native of Laurel, Miss., was a retired pipe fitter with the Savannah River Plant. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Blackville First Baptist Church and a member of Local 150 Pipe Fitters Union of Augusta.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie S. Rayner; one son, Edwin Jack Rayner, Blackville; one foster son, Pete Frickling, Barnwell; one daughter, Jackie R. Thomas, Barnwell; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the home of his daughter, 1985 Main St., Barnwell.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. .

Mrs. Grace Morris

Department of Corrections retiree

TENNILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Grace Underwood Morris, 81, of 206 Smith St., died Monday, June 22, 1998, at the Washington Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today in the E.K. May Funeral Home with the Revs. Mark Jones and Robert Whatley officiating. Burial will be in Zeta cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris, a native of Johnson County, had retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections Youth Development Center. She was a member of Tennille Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Philip Morris, Athens; one daughter, Kathleen M. Hodges, Oconee; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Philip Morris Jr., Michael Morris, Daniel Morris, David Morris, Greg Hodges, Rodney Warren and Ben Walters.

Memorials may be made to the Zeta cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery Trust Fund.

BELVEDERE -- Mrs. Melva Louise Casey Lotspeich died Tuesday, June 23, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home, Fernandina Beach, Fla., with the Rev. Danny Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Bosque-Bell cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Lotspeich, a native of Brunswick, Ga., was a retired salesclerk with Allan's Department Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach. She was a member of the Business Women's Night Circle of the Missionary Union and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, William ``Billy" Lotspeich, North Augusta, and Audry Lacewell Lotspeich, Las Vegas; two daughters, Genearle Hughes, Lake Jackson, Texas, and Mary Julia Stovall, San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Charlotte Gritman

MARTINEZ -- Mrs. Charlotte Gritman, 41, of 339 Lamplighter Lane, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at her residence.

Mrs. Gritman was a native of Fort Riley, Kan.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Gritman; one daughter, Heather Gritman, Martinez; her parents, Eugene Bryant and Martha Johnson Bryant, Augusta; two brothers, Michael Bryant and Byron Bryant, both of Augusta, and one sister, Phyllis Alger, Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Mike Henson, Chuck Kirkey, Jerry Pollard, Terry Turner, Randy Deers and Bobby Boyd.

Mrs. Helton, a native of Jefferson County, was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she was a church hostess and a member of the choir.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar Helton; five sons, Randy Helton, Sandersville, Don Helton and Dean Helton, both of Tennille, Wendall Helton, Milledgeville, and Larry Helton, Gray; one daughter, Pauline Lewis, Tennille; two brothers, Lester Simons, Augusta, and Benny Simons, Goose Creek, S.C.; two sisters, Louise Thigpen, Augusta, and Vivian Newsome, Port Wentworth; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Randy Helton, Don Helton, Dean Helton, Wendall Helton, Larry Helton and Cecil Lewis.

Miss Cason, a native of Port Wentworth, was a bookkeeper with Inglett and Co. She was of the Catholic faith.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at D'Antignac Street Church of Christ, Augusta, with Richard Williams officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mr. Guthrie, a native of Walnut Grove, was retired from Henry Ford Hospital and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Guthrie.

Pallbearers will be brethren of D'Antignac Street Church of Christ.

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Wendell Dean Rogers, 43, of 208 Fairview Ave., died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at his residence.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home with the Revs. Lee Krom and Phillip Hamilton officiating.

Mr. Rogers, a native of Augusta, was a truck driver for Southeastern Truck Lines. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Brett Rahner Rogers, Belvedere; two daughters, Cameron Leigh Rogers and Leslie Deanne Rogers, both of Belvedere; his mother, Dorothy B. Rogers, Belvedere; two brothers, Walter D. Rogers, Grayson, Ga., and Stephen P. Rogers, Belvedere.
