Mr. Thomas Oscar Groover, 72, of 2616 Shalimar Drive, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.
Mr. Groover, a native of Lake City, Fla., was a retired self-employed commercial painter and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Hogue, Augusta; three brothers, James R. Groover, Orange City, Fla., Edwin D. Groover, Augusta, and John A. Groover, Summerville, S.C.; two sisters, Mildred McGee, Augusta, and Ann Lewis, San Antonio; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Richard Grove, Charles Grove, Walter Groover, Johnny Grove, Bill Akins and Chuck McGee.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- Mr. Charlie M. ``Suga" Crawford, 56, of 241 N.W. 28th Ave., died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson, with the Rev. Tommy Burgess Jr. officiating. Burial will be in First Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Appling.
Mr. Crawford, a native of McDuffie County, was a self-employed plasterer and a member of Trinity Assembly of God, West Palm Beach. He was a 1961 graduate of McDuffie County Training School.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Crawford; two sons, Marion L. Crawford, West Palm Beach, and Charlie Crawford, Fort Myers; two daughters, Rosemary Hart and Belinda Hart, both of Boynton Beach; six brothers, Robert Crawford, Daniel Crawford Jr., John E. Crawford Sr., Melvin Crawford and George Crawford, all of Thomson, and Lawrence Crawford, Pittsburgh; three sisters, Frances Springer and Louise Burgess, both of Thomson, and Juanita Dickerson, Fort Myers; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.

RAYLE, Ga. -- Mr. David Thomas Blackburn, of 837 Bartram Trace Road, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at his residence.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Washington, with the Revs. Albert Huyck and John Mark Carpenter officiating.
Mr. Blackburn, a native of Texas, was retired as vice president of show productions with Six Flags Inc., where he produced the live shows for the theme parks and consulted on special performances and promotional shows. He served in the Army under Gen. Douglas MacArthur in Tokyo and was a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a degree in journalism. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Washington.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Mills Blackburn; three sons, Gregory Blackburn, Dallas, Stephen Blackburn, Chicago, and Charles Blackburn, Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Dicks, Salley, and Alonzo Dicks Jr., Aiken; her father, George Childs, Manning; her mother, Bessie Childs, Williston; three brothers, Jerome Jerry Childs and Spann Billy Childs, both of Williston, and George Childs Jr., Graniteville; and four sisters, Beatrice Childs and Gloria Ann Childs, both of Windsor, and Gertrude Martha Childs and Diane Childs, both of Williston.

Mr. Lewis, a native of Emanuel County, had retired as a farmer, electrician, and as co-owner of Swainsboro Freezer Locker Co. He was a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and was a 1944 state 4-H champion in farm machinery and animal husbandry. He donated property for the building and expansion of Empire Expressway Industrial Park. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and he was a Baptist.
The family said he was a descendent of Emanuel County's founding families.
Survivors include his wife, Oris Ridgill Lewis; three sons, Jimmie Neal Lewis, Swainsboro, Gary Lewis, Byron, and Mickey Lewis, Warner Robins; a daughter, Melanie Jan Lewis Johnson, Swainsboro; a sister, Elizabeth Palmer, Swainsboro; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, Keith Johnson, Mike Ridgill, Lee Page, James Palmer, Joshua Lewis Jr., Carroll Clifton and Samuel E. Flanders.
