Mrs. Lena Turner

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mrs. Lena Ouzts Turner, 77, of 1006 Circle St., died Thursday, April 23, 1998, in Saluda County.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Eastview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Chrisco officiating.

Mrs. Turner, a native of Edgefield County, was a retired textile worker and attended Edgefield Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Enlow, Trenton, and Gail Combs, Johnston; three brothers, Jack Ouzts, John Ouzts and David Ouzts, all of Edgefield; and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call at the residence or Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bertha Boles

PHILADELPHIA -- Mrs. Bertha Smith Boles, 85, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at Penna Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Furse Mill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Millette, S.C., with the Rev. Eddie C. Williams officiating.

Mrs. Boles, a native of Old Barnwell County, S.C., was a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church, Philadelphia.

Survivors include a sister, Pinkey S. Johnson, Martin, S.C.

Cave Funeral Service, Allendale, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rudolph Bredow

Retired grocery store manager

Mr. Rudolph ``Rudy" Bredow, 67, of 3341 Elegans Drive, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road, with a military chaplain officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Bredow, a native of Saginaw, Mich., had retired from Piggly Wiggly as a store manager after 18 years and was a former employee of Lowes Building Supply. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, and had retired with the rank of sergeant first class after 22 years. He was a Lutheran.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley E. Bredow, Augusta; four brothers, Gordon Bredow, Grand Rapids, Mich., Fred Bredow, Louiston, Mich., Gilbert Bredow, Santee, Calif., and Kenneth Bredow, Durand, Mich.; and four sisters, Millie Johnston, Grand Blanc, Mich., Shirley Huntoon, Henderson, Mich., Marie Zuck, Pontiac, Mich., and Janet Nott, Gregory, Mich.

Pallbearers will be members of an Army honor guard.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Building 300, Fort Gordon, GA 30905.

Friends may call at the residence or the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sudie Caldwell

Homemaker

UNION POINT, Ga. -- Mrs. Sudie Freeman Caldwell, 95, of 809 Dolvin Ave., died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Greene Point Health Care.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenlawn cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Rev. David Key officiating.

Mrs. Caldwell, a native of Franklin County, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Union Point.

Survivors include a son, James R. ``Bob" Caldwell, St. Louis; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Newsom, Ricky Newsome, Joe Newsom, Harold Finch, Gene Lindsey and Ed Dingler.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Callaway Funeral Home.

Megan Chavis

Infant

WILLISTON, S.C. -- Megan Chavis, infant daughter of James Andrew Chavis and Melissa Still Chavis of Springfield Road, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Williston cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Additional survivors include her paternal grandparents, O'Neal Chavis and Beverly Chavis, Aiken; maternal grandparents Freddie Still and Rozanne Still, Williston; paternal great-grandparents Parker Hancock and Peggy Hancock, Aiken; and her maternal great-grandmother Frances Jordan, Williston.

Folk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vera Coulson

Homemaker

HARLEM -- Mrs. Vera Coulson, 84, of 6700 Green Plantation Road, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vaugham-Guynn Funeral Home, Hillsville, Va. Burial will be in Mona-Vista Memorial Gardens, Galax, Va.

Mrs. Coulson, a native of Carol County, Va., was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Rita Coulson, Harlem; three brothers, Paul Bowman and Ernest Bowman, both of Austinville, and Glenn Bowman, Dublin; two sisters, Etheleen Robinson, Woodlawn, Va., and Nannie Sizemore, Galax; a stepsister, Cathleen Beasley, Roanoke, Va.; and four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Starling Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sylvia Cribbs

Homemaker

BLYTHE -- Mrs. Sylvia Jeanette Cribbs, of 1460 Etterlee Road, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Starling-Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. Jerry Redmond officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mrs. Cribbs, a native of Orangeburg, S.C., was a homemaker and a member of Keysville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jordan Cribbs; four sons, Jimmy Cribbs and Robbie Cribbs, both of Hephzibah, Charlie DeLoach, Harlem, and James Cribbs, Blythe; a daughter, Sandra Hollinsworth, Savannah; three brothers, John Oglesby, Macon, Robert Oglesby, Symra, Fla., and Belver Oglesby, Atlanta; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Frybergen, Charles Davis, Noah Boone, Lonnie Hopkins, Johnnie Dodd and Ricky McDonald.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Louise Garner

Retired cashier

Mrs. Louise Chavis Garner, 78, of 2120 Virginia Ave., died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Lake Crossing Nursing Home, Appling.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Revs. Len Chavis and Jim Stady officiating. Burial will be in West View cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Garner, a native of Randolph County, N.C., had lived in Augusta for 57 years. She had retired from A & P Grocery Stores as a cashier. She was a member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Lenard Chavis, Augusta, and Lenzo H. Chavis, Norfolk, Va.; a brother, William Gains, New York; a sister, Helen Buckner, Dallas; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Vardia Brewer, Bob McAmis, Gene Standard, Billy Harris, Charles Cowart, John Sheridan and Bubber Willis.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frances Hochel

Retired nursing aide

AIKEN -- Mrs. Frances Cmerek Hochel, 80, of 830 Laurens St. N., died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Hochel, a native of Georgetown, Texas, had lived in Aiken since 1981. She had retired from Sherman Hospital as a nursing aide. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies' Auxiliary and St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Paul Hochel, Algonquin, Ill., and Robert C. ``Bob" Hochel, Aiken; a brother, August Cmerek, Miles, Texas; a sister, Angeline Sladicek, Grainger, Texas; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus Seminarian Fund, 1003 Spalding Drive, Aiken, SC 29801, or to St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, P.O. Box 438, Aiken, SC 29802.

A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, and the family will receive friends after the wake until 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Willie Jones

ELIZABETH, N.J. -- Mr. Willie Jones, 75, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hampton, S.C., with the Revs. B.J. Burison Sr. and William Gedd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Jones, a native of Barbour County, had worked for Elizabeth Heating and Plumbing for 35 years. He was a member of Pleasant View Church.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Jones; two stepdaughters, Sandy Boles, Early Branch, S.C., and Sharon Carroll Franklin, Elizabeth; two brothers, David Jones and Leroy Jones, both of Mount Dora, Fla.; four sisters, Elizabeth Jones and Catherine Taylor, both of Mount Dora, Johnnie Mae Jones, Apopka, Fla., and Elaine Cannady, Florida; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Riley's Funeral Home, Hampton.
