Trudean Butler Thomas
Mrs. Trudean Butler “Trudy” Thomas, age 69, of McDonough, Georgia died November 7, 2008. Trudy was born
in Greenwood, South Carolina on August 21, 1939. She graduated from Fulton High School in Atlanta in 1957 and retired from Wachovia Bank. She married
the late Farrell S. Thomas on June 29, 1957, who died on September 10, 1991.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Timothy F. (Wanda M.) Thomas; granddaughters, Natalie Gayle, Rebekah Jill, and Meredith Hope; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 10 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Al O’Quinn and Rev. Chuck Shepard officiating. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park. Billy R. Kent
Mr. Billy R. Kent, age 78, of Jackson, Georgia died October 28, 2008. Billy was born
in Atlanta to the late Barney Jefferson and Ella Laura McCoy Kent. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired after serving 28 years with the City of Atlanta Fire Department; was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, collecting lighthouses, and trains.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Kent of Jackson; children, Dianne Gilmore of Bradenton, Florida, Jefferson (Laura) Kent of Jackson; grandchildren, John, Joseph, and Cindy Gilmore, David, Anna, and Emily Kent; two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held November 1 at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in memory of Mr. Kent. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833, in charge of arrangements.
Doris Johns Thomas
Mrs. Doris Johns Thomas, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia died Friday, October 31, 2008. She was born
in Villa Rica to the late Carl and Jewell Swafford Johns. Doris had many interests, sewing, gardening, puzzles, crafts, baking, fishing, camping and reading. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and she loved her church; but most important to her was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Thomas.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Fowler of Locust Grove, Gary Thomas of McDonough, Joan Britt of Senoia, and Douglas Thomas of Forest Park; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services were held November 4 in the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. James Ward and Dr. Bob Halstead officiating. Interment Melrose Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Martha Jean Barrett McMillan
Mrs. Martha Jean Barrett McMillan, age 76, of McDonough, Georgia died November 1, 2008. Mrs. McMillan was born
in Forsyth, the daughter of the late Carrie Beatrice McGinnis and Jackson DeWitt Barrett. Mrs. McMillan was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed her family, caring for her grandchildren, her grandchildren’s sporting events, country music, celebrity gossip, and eating out. She was known for her outgoing personality and never meeting a stranger she could not talk with. Her husband, Bethel McMillan Jr. and a brother, Jack Lanier Barrett preceded her in death.
Survivors are her children, Lori (Ron) Ridenour of Lawrenceville, Mike McMillan of Norcross and Keith (Charlotte) McMillan of Covington; grandchildren, Caryn, Jason, and Kylie Ridenour, Michael and Stephen McMillan, and Courtney and Brooke McMillan; great grandchild, Patrick Ridenour.

Cheryl P. Pounds
Mrs. Cheryl P. Pounds, age 52, of Hampton, Georgia died November 1, 2008. She was born
December 10, 1955 in Cherokee County, the daughter of the late Ralph Payne. Mrs. Pounds was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest T. Pounds of Hampton, daughter, Crystal Ralph of Hampton; two sons, Steven Hamrick of Jasper and Donald Ralph of Hampton; his mother, Mrs. Flo Weaver of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Jesilyn, Katilyn, Joseph and Ashley; two sisters, Melba Young of Fairmount and Sandra Stapleton of Chatsworth; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were held November 4 at Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Mike D. Henderson officiating. Interment Mt. Zion Independent Methodist Church Cemetery. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper in charge of arrangements.
Hanneloure “Hanni” Boehss LaQuay
Mrs. Hanneloure “Hanni” Boehss LaQuay, age 57, of Hampton, Georgia November 2, 2008. Mrs. LaQuay was born
in Schwerin, Germany. Hanni enjoyed reading, children, and her cats. She was preceded in death by her father, Darwin LaQuay and a sister, Claudia LaQuay.
Survivors include her husband, Harold LaQuay of Hampton; and mother, Edith Weigert LaQuay of Stockbridge.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Alvie Rodgers officiating. The family will receive friends just prior to the service. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833, in charge of arrangements.
Frances Elizabeth Baughman Lockwood
Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Baughman Lockwood, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia died November 3, 2008. Mrs. Lockwood was born
in Sylvania, the daughter of the late Daisy Burch and John McGowan Baughman, Sr. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed her family and grandchildren, crocheting, and cooking. Mrs. Lockwood attended Jodeco Road United Methodist Church. Her husband, Donald J. Lockwood and several siblings preceded her in death.
Survivors are her daughter, Susan Tuggle of McDonough; grandchildren, John E. Tuggle, Jr. (Jenny) of Indiana and Sarah Tuggle of McDonough; sister, Corine Zittrouer of Savannah; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Sheffield officiating. Interment College Park City Cemetery.
