Virginia Davis
Mrs. Virginia Davis, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia died December 6, 2008. She was born
in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Charles A. Stephens and Miriam B. Stephens. Mrs. Davis graduated from Bradford College in Massachusetts. She enjoyed pleasure riding on her Paso Fino horses, loved golf, oil painting, playing bridge and watching the Braves. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Ron L.) Bass; son, William C. Davis, both of Stockbridge; grandsons, Jeffrey R. (Sharon) Cash, Jason H. (Kristy) Cash; great grandchildren, Virginia, Brandon, Courtney, Hunter, and Ava; and sister, Barbara (Lew) Erwin.
Services were held December 8 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dudley Rose and Rev. Rachael Knoll officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Roger Carl Oakes
Mr. Roger Carl Oakes, age 57, of Stockbridge, Georiga died Decem-ber 7, 2008. He was born
in Rocky Mt., Virginia. He was a member of First Christian Church in Stockbridge. He worked for Rich's/Macy's for 38 years. He loved fishing, Nascar, football, basketball, and traveling. But most important to him was his family and his church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Bowles Oakes and brother, Jerry Oakes.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Dianne Oakes of Stockbridge; son, Jason Carl Oakes of Stockbridge; daughter, Rachel Denise Worthan of Marietta; grandchildren, Emily Nicole Payne and Dylan Chase Payne; father, Jack Oakes of Ruffin, North Carolina; siblings, John Oakes, William Oakes, Tim Oakes, Rita Adkins, Rosie Cohran, June Williams; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held December 10 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Reverend Jim Van Winkle officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Mary McDaniel
Mrs. Mary McDaniel, age 82, of McDonough died December 7, 2008. She was born
in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Pauline Cartae Vincoli. She was a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano, arts, crafts and bingo. She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Keffer, Jennie Guidry; brothers, James and Vincent Vincoli and a grandson, Brandon Dennis Partain.
Survivors include children, Dianne Miller of McDonough, Marcus Harrison of Stockbridge, Brenda (Dennis) Partain of McDonough; grandchildren, Kim Miller of Marietta, Lisa (Kevin) Kersey of McDonough, Steven (Lori) Miller of McDonough, Christopher (Jennifer) Harrison of Stockbridge, Brittany Shay Harrison of Stockbridge, Heather Partain of Locust Grove; great grandchildren, Kyle, Cameron, Kadin, Kylie, Brayden and Lilly; brother, Frank Vincoli of Douglasville.

Lorraine Olga Shaffer
Mrs. Lorraine Olga Shaffer, age 65, of Locust Grove, Georgia died December 7, 2008. She was born
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Fredrick and Olga Devuono Fortunato. She was a member of the Pentecostal church and enjoyed catalog shopping.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Robert C. Shaffer, Sr. of Locust Grove; children, Dawn Leary of Broward County, Florida, Bob Shaffer, Jr. of Carson City, Nevada; grandchildren, Christine and Frank Leary; brother, Joseph Fortunato of Boca Raton, Florida.

Martha Etoil Nelson
Mrs. Martha Etoil Nelson, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia died Sunday, November 23, 2008. She was born
in Detroit, Alabama to the late Walter Jackson and Clara Anne Latham Rye. Ms. Nelson was a member of New Covenant Church of God where she was a Sunday School teacher. She retired from Georgia schools after twenty plus years of service.
Survivors include sons, Otis Cook of Louisville, Kentucky, Ralph Cannon of Molena, Bob Cannon of Jesup, and Victor Cannon of Coral Gables, Florida; daughter, Faye Moody of Riverdale; and sister: Naomi Sanderson of Birmingham, Alabama; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 29 at Cooper Cemetery

Gerald S. Fowler, Sr.
Mr. Gerald S. Fowler, Sr., age 76, of Hampton, Georgia died November 24, 2008. He was born
in DeKalb County to the late Rubin Samuel and Era Exa Fields Fowler. Gerald served his country in the United States Army and was retired after 27 years with Prudential. He attended The Village Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his grandchildren’s sports activities. He was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Jones, Louise Bishop and by brothers, Harold and Marvin Fowler.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Fowler of Hampton; children, Cathy (Carlton) Chatman of Hampton, Stewart Fowler of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren, Craig Chatman, Cindy DuBose, Corey Chatman, Tina Shaffer, Travis Fowler; great grandchildren, Cierra, Chelie, Dylan, Malachi Chatman, Emma and Bowden DuBose, Christina Palowski, and Brittany Shaffer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held November 28 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Cook officiating. Interment Westview Cemetery

Julie Karen Rogers
Ms. Julie Karen Rogers, age 54, of McDonough, Georgia died November 26, 2008. She was born
in Lakeland, Florida. Ms. Rogers was a member of McDonough Christian Church. She was a graduate of Lakeland Business College and Atlanta Christian College and was a former Rainbow Girl and Eastern Star. She owned Creative Classics Commercial Embroidery and Sewing, participated in Civil War re-enactments, and was an active member of the Stone Mountain Hog Group. She was preceded in death by her mother, Constance Alta Rogers.
Survivors include her father, William Ellis Rogers of Lakeland, Florida; sister, Sherrill Fulton of Fernandina Beach, Florida; brothers, Glen D. Rogers of Snellville, and Robert "Bob" Rogers of McDonough; nephews, David Preston Fulton, Jr. of Irving, Texas , David Elijah Rogers and Ashur H. Rogers, both of Snellville, Ryan A. Rogers of Lakeland, Florida; nieces, Andrea L. Rogers of Lakeland, Florida and A. Shanna Rogers; grandnephew, A.A. James Rogers of Winder; and grandniece, Tiliah M. Rogers of Lakeland, Florida.
