Mrs. Emily Harvley

WADLEY, Ga. -- Mrs. Emily Raines Harvley, 89, of Moxley Community, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Glendale Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moxley Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Raines and Don Lumpkin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Harvley, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Moxley Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth May, Louisville, Ann Smith, Bartow, and Linda Claxton, Statesboro; a brother, Donald Raines, Evans; and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Allen May, Mitch Smith, Brad Smith, Brooks Banks, Jay Smith and William Banks.

Friends may call at the residence of Sid and Ann Smith, 2953 Moxley-Bartow Road, Bartow.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Lonnie Hawes

Logger

LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mr. Lonnie Norman Hawes, 69, of 2183 Elberton Highway, died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Wills Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy D. Andrews officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Hawes, a native of Lincolnton, was self-employed as a logger. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of American Legion Thomas Lane Post No. 597, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Joe Otis Hawes and Peyton Hawes, both of Lincolnton, and Herman Hawes, Hampton, Va.; and four sisters, Melba Nunnally and Arlesia Hawes, both of Lincolnton, and Helen Sutton and Ella Hamp, both of Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Richard Stokes, Rico Tutt, Dernek Hamp, Patrick Hawes, Gabriel Hawes, Isaiah Trumpler Jr., Keith Hawes, Lakendrick Jones and Samuel Jones Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

Friends may call at the residence or after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Wright and Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lee Hughes

Retired farmer

AVERA, Ga. -- Mr. Lee Roy Hughes, 80, of 1237 Eddie Beasley Road, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Gibson Rest Home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Clark officiating.

Mr. Hughes, a native of Jefferson County, had retired as a farmer. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Hughes Jr., Thomson, and Richard Hughes, Louisville; a brother, Calvin Hughes, Byron; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence or Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. John Sease

Retired material handler

AIKEN -- Mr. John H. Sease, 89, of 542-C Chesterfield St. N.E., died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Bowser Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Sease, a native of Ehrhardt, had retired from M & M Supply as a material handler. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Otis Sease, Washington; and a sister, Eartha Lee Preston, Camden, N.J.

Pallbearers will be friends and officers of the church.

Friends may call at the residence of Willie J. Johnson, Warrenville.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Miller's Funeral Home.

Mr. Daniel Seigler

Retired carpenter

GUYTON, Ga. -- Mr. Daniel K. Seigler, 68, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sand Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Royce Hendrey and Stacy Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Seigler, a native of Richmond County, had retired as a carpenter. He was a member of the Pineland Hunting Club and Sand Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Anne Johnson Seigler; three sons, Johnny Seigler and Donald Seigler, both of Ellabell, and Ernest Seigler, Blichton; a daughter, Dorothy Edwards, Guyton; a brother, Wallace Roland, Augusta; a sister, Barbara Robbins, Savannah; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Sand Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 221 Allison Road, Guyton, GA 31312.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Thomas C. Strickland Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Raymond Shelton

Commercial trucker

AIKEN -- Mr. Raymond A. Shelton, 60, of 261 Good Hope Farms Road, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Vision Worship Center, Warrenville, with James R. Harter, Lee Benson and the Rev. Thomas Mason Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Graniteville.

Mr. Shelton, a native of Aiken, was a commercial trucker for 35 years. He was a member of Ray and the Boys Band, Chatterbox Laryngectomy Club, and New Vision Worship Center, where he was a member of the Praise Team.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Kitchens Shelton; a son, James A. Shelton, Savannah; three stepsons, Mark Barkley and Michael Farmer, both of Augusta, and Christopher Barkley, Clearwater; three brothers, W.T. Shelton, Beech Island, Allen Shelton, Travelers Rest, and Paul Shelton, North Augusta; and three sisters, Eloise Benson and Fannie Simmons, both of North Augusta, and Jean Shelton, Aiken.

Pallbearers will be Randy Peterson, Jeff Benson, Len Day, Kevin Hobbs, George Shelton and Rex Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be former members of Ray and the Boys Band.

Memorials may be made to Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center, 690 Medical Park Drive, Aiken, SC 29801.

Mrs. Mary Strickland

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mrs. Mary Leona Cawley Strickland, 66, of 5375 Lexington Ave., died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harlem Memorial cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Harlem, with the Rev. Michael Wiles officiating.

Mrs. Strickland, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker. She had worked at Methodist Hospital, Jacksonville, as a licensed practical nurse from 1973 to 1978. She was a Catholic and a church volunteer.

Her family said she was a loving mother.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Edward Strickland; two sons, Bobby Strickland and Frank Strickland, both of Jacksonville; two daughters, Sarah Mobley and Mary Strickland, both of Jacksonville; her mother, Mary Alice Kennedy Clements, Jacksonville; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Strickland, Frank Strickland, Ray Phelps, Shawn Mobley, Shane Campansion, Edward Kennedy and Bill Clements.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem.

Mr. James White

Carpenter

BEAUFORT, S.C. -- Mr. James Edward White, 47, died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Pineland. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. White, a native of Pineland, was a carpenter and painter. He was educated in Jasper County schools and was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Keyon White, Liberty, N.Y.; his stepmother, Rosa Jane White, Pineland; and four sisters, Sara Fields and Elouise White, both of Liberty, Ruth A. Youmans, Allendale, and Delma Laurel, Middletown, N.Y.

Friends may call at Riley's Funeral Home, Fairfax.

Mrs. Corrie Baxley

BLACKVILLE, S.C. -- Mrs. Corrie Ferguson Baxley, 87, died Monday, March 23, 1998, in Barnwell.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mole Funeral Home, Barnwell, with the Rev. Alfred Still officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Barnwell.

Mrs. Baxley, a native of Barnwell County, was a homemaker and a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband R.J. ``Jack" Baxley; four sons, Ernest Davis and James C. Davis, both of Bloomingdale, Ga., Jesse R. Davis, Ellaville, Ga., and John W. Davis, Blackville; one daughter, Lois D. Williams, Blackville; one brother, James Albert Ferguson, Savannah; two sisters, Adell Flakes, Savannah, and Jessie Mae Winn, Jacksonville, Fla.; and 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
