Mr. Roy Barnwell

TWIN CITY, Ga. -- Mr. Roy J. Barnwell, 79, of Fifth Avenue, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at El Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Sego, Earl Ash and Lamar Little officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Barnwell, a native of Banks County, was a retired machine operator and a member of El Bethel Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three daughters, Fannie Lou Bouttier, Twin City, Marie Tyler, Dublin, and Sandra Fowler, Macon; three brothers, Charlie Barnwell, Savannah, Garney Barnwell, Metter, and J.C. Barnwell, Monticello, Fla.; one sister, Estell Chittwood, Fitzgerald; and 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons of El Bethel Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary, Swainsboro.

Mr. Clarence Bentley Jr.

Retired farmer

LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mr. Clarence Gross ``Bubber" Bentley Jr., 77, of 1243 Amity-Woodlawn Road, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Thomas Manor.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Mason officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Bentley, a native of Lincoln County and lifelong resident of the Woodlawn community, was a retired farmer and logger and was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and chairman of the deacon board. He was retired as owner and operator of Bentley Logging Co. and had served as the supervisor of the Lincoln County Soil and Water Conservation District and on the Rayle EMC Board of Directors, where he served as president. He was a former member of the board of directors of Oglethorpe Power Co. and a former director of the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services.

Survivors include his wife, Trudelle Parks Bentley; two sons, D. Gross Bentley, Lincolnton, and Alton K. Bentley, Dalton; one daughter, Trudy B. Edmunds, Lincolnton; three sisters, Dorothy Bentley and Jane Justice, both of Lincolnton, and Josephine Corbin, Houston; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Bentley, Gary Bentley, Lewis Bentley, Jimmie Justice Jr., Larry Justice, Richard Foreman Jr., Barney Aycock Jr., Ralph Bentley, Taylor Ramsey, Shelley L. Small, Arthur Beard, James Lee Garnett and Edwin Burgess.

Memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, c/o Alvin Cox, 2476 Leathersville Road, Lincolnton, GA 30817.

Friends may call at the residence or from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Beggs Funeral Home.

Mr. Allen Davis

Electrician

Mr. Allen Davis, 49, of 3226 Kevin Drive, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Kingdom Life Center with the Rev. Roy Holliman officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Davis, a native of Augusta, was an electrician and a member of Faith Kingdom Life Center. He was a 1966 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and a graduate of Augusta Technical Institute.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gale Davis; two sons, Allen Davis Jr. and Alvin Alex Davis, both of Augusta; three daughters, Shannon Yvette Davis, Carol Denise Davis and Crystal Gale Davis, all of Augusta; his father, Leroy Davis, Hope Mill, N.C.; his mother, Annie L. Scott; one brother, Terry Lee Davis, Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Frances Davis Taylor, Augusta; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be members of the Lucy C. Laney High School Class of 1966.

Friends may call at the residence or at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Willie Lawson

Retired construction worker

THOMSON -- Mr. Willie Lee Lawson, 69, of 306 Ellington Ave., died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cody Grove Baptist Church, Warrenton, with the Rev. Larney Henry Washington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Lawson, a native of Warren County, was a retired construction worker with Knox and Rivers Co. and a member of Cody Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, H.B. Hudson, Thomson, and Jimmy L. Lawson, New York; three daughters, Tywanna Lawson and Sarah Wilburn, both of Thomson, and Janice Lawson, Warrenton; one stepson, Colon Paschal, Thomson; two stepdaughters, Carol Bussey and Willie Mae Wright, both of Thomson; one brother, Willie H. Turman, Thomson; one sister, Thelma Mayes, Thomson; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wilburn, James Wilburn, Terell Martin, James Wright, Lester Taylor and David Ivey.

Friends may call at the residence or Thomson Funeral System.

Mr. Jessie Seeby

Retired maintenance worker

GLOVERVILLE -- Mr. Jessie Franklin ``Frank" Seeby, 68, of 467 Whalen St. Extension, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Windermere Nursing Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at George Funeral Home, Whiskey Road, Aiken, with the Rev. Roy L. Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Warrenville cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Warrenville.

Mr. Seeby, a native of Steifeltown, was retired from Aiken County School District as a maintenance worker and was a Protestant. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Survivors include one brother, William Seeby, Aiken; and two sisters, Elise Redd, Couchton, and Audrey Gunter, both of Aiken.

Friends may call at the residence of Louise Geib, 214 Surrey Circle, Aiken.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Larry Thompson

Retired shoe repairman

CLEVELAND -- Mr. Larry Thompson died Sunday, March 8, 1998.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Nazarene Baptist Church, Fairfax, S.C., with the Rev. B.J. Burison Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Allen Chapel cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Allendale County.

Mr. Thompson, a native of Allendale County, was a retired shoe repairman and an Army veteran. He was a member of Nazarene Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include one son, Larry Thompson Jr., Cleveland; and one sister, Frances Eady, Cleveland.

Friends may call at Riley's Funeral Home, Fairfax.

The family will receive friends today at the funeral home.

Mr. Benson Davis

Truck driver

WAGENER -- Mr. Benson Russell Davis, 51, of 120 Carriage Lane Drive, Apt. 2-F, died Monday, March 9, 1998, in West Columbia.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Union Hill Baptist Church, Salley, with the Rev. Monroe Danley Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Davis, a native of Wagener, was a truck driver with Wagener Manufacturing and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. He attended A.L. Corbett High School.

Survivors include two daughters, Lakeshia S. Williams and Marion S. Jones, both of Wagener; one brother, David Wallace, Wagener; three sisters, Blondell D. Steaman, Salley, and Bernice D. Portee and Eva Mae Cohn, both of Walterboro; two stepbrothers, Jasper Jackson and Johnny Jackson, both of Columbia; and four stepsisters, Eartha Oliver, Eartha Renee Jackson, Eartha Bell Davenport and Johnnie Mae Staley, all of Wagener.

Friends may call at the residence of Mattie S. Williams, 192 Center St., Wagener.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at J.H. Robinson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Daisy Evans

Mrs. Daisy Taylor Evans, 94, of 1210 1/2 Central Ave., died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Heritage Inn Nursing Home, Barnesville, Ga.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Blythe Methodist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Blythe, Ga.

Mrs. Evans, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and had been a member of Blythe Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth T. Swint, Orchard Hill, Ga., and Jerry Pevy, Jacksonville, Fla.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stephanie Hannah

WRENS, Ga. -- Mrs. Stephanie T. Hannah, 30, of 201 Baltimore Drive, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, in Lawton, Okla.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Wrens Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ella Mae Smiley officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Hannah, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Wrens Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the choir and served as an usher and a youth director.

Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Hannah, Atlanta; one son, Cornelius Hannah; her parents, Stanley and Deanne Thomas, both of Wrens; one brother, Cecilio Thomas, Atlanta; and her grandmother, Rosetta Habersham, Wrens.

Pallbearers will be the Wrens High School Class of 1987.

Honorary pallbearers will be officers of Wrens Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mamie Holland

Homemaker

SARDIS, Ga. -- Mrs. Mamie Ruth Lee Holland, 81, died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Jenkins County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, Sylvania, with the Rev. Willard Godbee officiating. Burial will be in St. Marks cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Holland, a native of Sardis, was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie James ``Dimsey" Holland; three sons, Douglas A. Holland and Curtis Peterson, both of Augusta, and Tellie M. Holland, Sardis; one daughter, Brenda Gail H. Miller, Sardis; one brother, Albert Lee, Sardis; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Bessinger, Bobby Chance, Terry Lee, James Curtis Peterson, Ivey Miller, Herman Hamilton, Inman Miller and Allen Lee.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
