THOMSON -- Mr. Donnie Richard Proctor, 50, of 429 Shiloh Road, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Curtis Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Burial will be in Westview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Mr. Proctor, a native of Wilkes County, had lived in Thomson most of his life. He had retired from civil service.
Survivors include a daughter, Tonya Hawkins, Thomson; his mother, Rosa Irene Proctor, Thomson; a brother, Harold Proctor, Boneville; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Walden, Clayton Meadows, John Branch, Randy Walden, Houston Evans and David Wells.

Mrs. Margaret Scott

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Scott, 67, of 16 Jef Road, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with Sam Bowen, Manning Temples and Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.
Mrs. Scott, a native of Polk, Fla., had lived in Statesboro for three years and was a former resident of Ocala, Fla., and Ludowici. She was self-employed as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for 30 years. She was a former member of the Long County Library Board and a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, W.R. ``Bob" Scott; a son, John Scott, Statesboro; three daughters, Marilyn Runyon and Nancy Posey, both of Ludowici, and Rebecca Hart, Statesboro; two brothers, Joe Hennecy and Raymond Hennecy, both of Lakeland, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Raleigh Hart, Josh Runyon, Harold Long, Kasey Hendrix, Bobby Mallard, Kerry Chapman, Ken Deloach and Burney Fordham.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, and deacons and men of Shoals Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lizzie M. Tucker, of 1501 Clay St., died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Dr. Sam Davis officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker, a native of Hancock County, Ga., had retired from University Hospital. She was a member, usher and stewardess of Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Gordon Tucker; two sons, Cleo Tucker and Travis Tucker, both of Augusta; four daughters, Lizzie Faye Meyers, Elois Jones and Velma Tucker, all of Augusta, and Pansy White, Sandersville, Ga.; her mother, Emma Mae Rachel, Augusta; three sisters, Virginia Belton, Augusta, Kinnie Snell, Jacksonville, Fla., and Barbara Jean Hart, Thomson; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

WRENS, Ga. -- Mr. Billy James Wells, 59, of 1569 Georgia Highway 102, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harts Grove Baptist Church, Stapleton, with the Rev. Willie L. Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.
Mr. Wells, a native of Glascock County, had retired as a carpenter. He was a member of Harts Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Warren G. Wells and Mary Agnes Wells, Wrens; two brothers, Jimmy James Wells Sr., Wrens, and Willie Herman Wells, New Jersey; and four sisters, Shirley Jean Simms, Agnes Deloris Stone and Cynthia Ann Wells, all of Wrens, and Mozell Seabrooks, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Stone, Wayne Vaughner, Jimmy Wells Jr., Gene Stone, Charles Roberts and Charlie Johnson.

Mrs. Clara Cadle

Mrs. Clara Cadle, 87, of 2107 Reedale Road, died Monday, March 9, 1998, in Evans.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Revs. Marion Jay and Joanna Pence officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cadle, a native of Augusta, was retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a nurse's assistant in the nursery. She worked at Hollingsworth Candy Co. and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda T. Krause and Deborah Cadle, both of Augusta, and Jeanette C. Neal, Evans; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Clark, Kenneth Lamberth, Larry Hightower, Thomas Krause, Marcus Thompson, Trey Cosnahan, Brad Teal and Mike Cadle.

Dr. Edwin H. Flynn
Retired professor
Dr. Edwin Harvey Flynn of 208 Kings Chapel Road, retired Augusta College professor, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 72.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dr. Flynn, a native of Niantic, Conn., was a retired professor of business administration with Augusta College, where he taught from 1968 to 1993. He was a professor with the University of Tennessee from 1957 to 1968. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and Indiana University and was a Ford Scholar at Duke University.
He was a member of the Torch Club International, Friends of the Augusta Library, the American Economics Association, the American Finance Association and had served on the Department of Commerce Export Council, Savannah District.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Devine Flynn; and two sons, Patrick Flynn and Matthew Flynn, both of Augusta.

JOHNSTON, S.C. -- Mr. Charlie Mathis Jr., 69, of 986 McCreight Road, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Edgefield County Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. B. Williamson and C.W. Phinizy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.
Mr. Mathis, a native of Edgefield County, was a retired machine operator and a member of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the senior choir.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Geneva Perry Mathis; nine sons, Willie James Mathis, Johnnie Lee Mathis, David Thomas and Joseph Mathis, all of Johnston, Alvin Mathis and Randy Mathis, both of Saluda, Mark Mathis, North Augusta, Orlando Mathis, New York, and Joe Robert Mathis; four daughters, Virginia Mathis, Shirley Mathis and Sarah Mathis, all of Johnston, and Charlene M. Mason, Washington; his stepmother, Lelia Mathis, Johnston; eight brothers, James Mathis, Horace Mathis, Grady Pixley and Joe Nathan Pixley, all of Johnston, David Mathis, Philadelphia, Ernest Pixley, Saluda, Raymond Pixley, Greenville, and Richard Pixley, all of Atlanta; five sisters, Mick Pixley and Clara Pixley, both of Rochester, N.Y., Daisy Pixley, Greenville, and Haggie Pixley, Johnston, and Louise Pixley; and 34 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

WARRINGTON, Ga. -- Keneshia Sharia Medlock, 1508 East Garthright Road, died Thursday, March 5, 1998 at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Thomson Funeral System Chapel. Burial was in Williams Grove Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Warren County.
Keneshia was a native of Richmond County.
Survivors include her parents, Maxine Smith Medlock and Kenneth Medlock, both of Warrington; two sisters, Alexis Brinkley, White Plains, and Kennekia Battle, Sparta; paternal grandmother, Gladys Medlock, Warrington; and her maternal grandparents, William Smith III, Bayshore, N.Y., Alberta Smith, White Plains, and Ada Alexander, Greensboro.
Dr. Erskine Peters
Author and professor
Dr. Erskine Peters of 202 Inglewood Place, South Bend, Ind. , author and professor, died Monday, March 9, 1998, at his residence. He was 49.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rock of Ages Christian Methodist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Thompkins officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Peters, a native of Richmond County, was a professor with University of California, Berkeley and the University of Notre Dame. He was an author. His books include William Faulkner: The Yoknapatawpha World of Black Being, African Openings to the Tree of Life and The Lyrics of the Afro-American Spiritual.
He was a 1965 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and received his bachelor of arts degree from Paine College, where he was salutatorian of the 1969 class. He received his master's degree from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, and a doctorate in English and Afro-American studies from Princeton University, Princeton, N.J.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Peters-Browning; stepfather, Eddie Brown, Augusta; four brothers, George R. Peters Jr., Waynesboro, Ga., Alfred Peters, Macon, Ga., and Larry Peters and Spencer Peters, both of Augusta; three sisters, Gertrude P. Postell and Susie Stevens, both of Augusta, and Carolyn P. Dixon, Hephzibah.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Johnson Jr., Glenn Screen, Leon Carpenter, Carl McCoy, Edward B. McCoy and Kenneth Riley.
