Joseph Louie McLeod
Joseph Louie McLeod, age 80, of Hampton, Georgia, died January 12, 2009. He was born
in Moultrie to the late Mack I. and Martha Ellen Hall McLeod. Mr. McLeod served in the U.S. Army. He was president and CEO of his landscaping company for 35 years in Atlanta.
Mr. McLeod is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores Inez McLeod, Hampton; sons, Jerald L. McLeod, McDonough, Jesse E. McLeod,
Hampton, Joseph E. McLeod, Cartersville; daughters, Wanda Williams, McDonough, Debra K. White, Commerce, and Donna Carole McLeod, Atlanta; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers,
Luther H. McLeod, Braden-ton, Florida, Mack L. McLeod, Panama City, Florida; sister, Lois Leatha Johnson, Valdosta, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Helen K. Rogers
Helen K. Rogers, age 84, of McDonough, Georgia, died January 13, 2009. She was born
in Maryville, Tennessee, to the late Roy and Pearl Brewer Keller. Mrs. Rogers was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert L. Rogers; brothers, Daniel Keller and Ershel Keller, and sister, Imagene Wheeler.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her son, Danny Rogers, McDonough; granddaughters, Lo-ri Jackson and Kim Schwendinger, both of McDonough; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Ollie Keller, Maryville, Tennessee, and sister, Jeanette Grinstead, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Alma H. Browning
Alma H. Browning, age 71, of Morrow, Georgia died January 15, 2009. She was born
in Haleyville, Alabama, to the late Claude Noel and Edna Loraine Young Henry.
Mrs. Browning is survived by her son, Keith Browning, Morrow; daughters, Denise Poss, Jonesboro, Kelly Rogers, Hampton; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Mattox, Pace, Florida, and Betty Spake, Breman.

Lucile Brannan Foster
Lucile Brannan Foster was born
in McDonough, Georgia on April 18, 1911 and passed away on January 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Byron Foster. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn F. Martin; grandson, Brad S. Martin; granddaughter, Leslie M. Burrell; great-granddaughter, Ariel Burrell; two brothers, Aubery Lamar Brannan and Thomas Sherwood Brannan.
Graveside services will be held at Flippen United Methodist Cemetery, McDonough, on January 21 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Tim Emmett officiating. Clifford Wayne Turner
Clifford Wayne Turner, 69 of Stockbridge, GA, died Dec-ember 31, 2008. He was born
March 25, 1939 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was the son of the late Frederick Wayne "Captain" and Hallie Reid Turner of Unionville, Virginia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Joan Ellen Turner of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Claudia Turner Monteith of Meyers, California.
Mr. Turner attended Orange County High School in Orange, Virginia and received his GED from the state of Colorado. He was an Airman in the US Air force from 1958 - 1962 and worked in Orange County many years before moving to Georgia. He retired from the State of Georgia as a correctional officer. He served many in his community by volunteering his support in the founding and continued operation of the Hands of Hope Clinic, as well as generously volunteering his time and talents with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Morrow.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Hull Turner of Stock-bridge, two sisters, Barbara "Bobby" Turner Marshall and Harriet Turner Booze of Unionville, Virginia, three step-sons and their families; Randy, his sons Lane and Logan Lohr of Chesapeake, Virginia, Marty, his wife Beth, and children Stuart and Rebecca Lohr, of Richmond, Virginia, and Jody, his wife Joy, and children, Jordan and Jackson Lohr, of Fishersville, Virginia, a step-grandson Justin Jones, and a step-great-granddaughter, Madyson Jones of Sonora, California. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He leaves a life-long friend, Paul Steigler of Lithonia; a very special young friend next door, Krista Anderson; and his pet cat, Hallie. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., on January 24, at the First Baptist Church of Morrow at 1647 Lake Harbin Rd. Morrow. Pastor Thomas Quisenberry will preside. Burial will be private. Robert David Townsend
Robert David "Rod" Town-send, age 63, of Jonesboro, GA died Thursday, January 8, 2009. He was born
in Blairsville, GA to the late James An-drew and Elizabeth Stephens Townsend.
Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife, Brenda Townsend, Jonesboro; daughters, Angie (Tre') Mock, McDonough, Kellie (Reeves) Mock, Sherrie (Wayne) Everett, both of Stockbridge; 7 grandchildren, Teyler, Hayden, Avery, Mallory, Mason, Colton, and Casen; brother, Tom Townsend, Cumming; sisters, Sarah Roberts, Buford, Betty Orr, Gainesville, Grapelle Thompson, Winder, Jeanette Vest, Blairsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 11, at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Barry Kirkwood officiating. Interment at Westminster Memorial Gardens. George McDuffie Upton
George McDuffie Upton, age 81, of McDonough, GA passed away January 11, 2009. Mr. Upton was born
in Jefferson, GA the son of the late Roxie Lamar and Thatcher Upton. He was one of 14 children and is preceded in death by several siblings.
Mr. Upton worked as an operator and engineer for Capital Construction for 30 plus years and was a member of the Operator/Engineer Local Union #926. He was a loving husband, father and Papa who enjoyed fishing, gardening and making birdhouses. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church for 41 years. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict for two years.
Survivors are his wife of 50 plus years, Betty Upton of McDonough; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Art Krytus of Forsyth, Marianne and Fred Land of Hampton, and Susan Upton of Forsyth; grandchildren, Heather Shortt, Tiffany Shortt, Nicholas Williams, Cody Land, and Hunter Land; great grandchildren, Taylor Shortt, Blaklee Shortt and Jordon Williams; sisters, Helen Tanajewski of Swainsboro and Jean Baird of Rome; brother, Stanley Upton of Wadley; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Upon will be Thursday, January 15, at 2 p.m. at Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Mack officiating. Entombment will be at Haisten/East-lawn Memorial Park in McDonough.
